Sometimes right before Will’s morning nap, we let him watch a video. He’s knows what is going to happen as soon as we grab the remote…and he sits down and smiles really big. Then he stares at the tube till the video comes on.
Sometimes I get the “what the heck is taking you so long mom? Don’t you know I’m waiting?!” look.
Sometimes it’s the if-I-stare-at-it-long-enough-without-blinking-it-might-happen look
Most times he refuses to look at the camera…he’s catching on that the tv is just a ploy for a still and very cute subject.
Still no sideburns.
And during the video there is a slew of different faces that he makes…this one is definitely a favorite. It has no name.
But by far, the most favorite face is this one because it means that someone is going down for a nap…and someone else is gonna be able to get their blog on…
You can see where he gets it from…

Oh, if I could set your sweet Will up with my precious Ella, but I know Clara has already claimed her man! 🙂 He is just a doll. I love those faces. I see my Ella make a few that are similar, making me think they are quite compatible. Truly, he is a beautiful boy. I tell my boys they are beautiful…no shame in being “ridiculously good looking.” And no need to save that word just for girls.
On another note….I LOVE the pillows on your couch in these shots. I think you have mentioned where you got some of them (or the fabric) on a source list, but would you mind sharing again or letting me know which ones are new?
Lisa says
How is your couch so white and your pillows soo clean!?!

Awww Will is so cute! love the ‘pucker up’ face… :o)

No Sideburns? No worries. 🙂 I work with one year olds in a daycare so I can say with some authority that most one year olds have SOMETHING funky going on with their hairstyles.
One poor little sweetie looked like Gollum from Lord of the Rings for the longest time. So blonde she looked bald on top, then longish in the back. The Gollum look was complete when she’d scrunch her face up into a devilish smile while doing something against the rules. 😉
Crazy one year olds. Gotta love em.
Alicia says
HAHA this is so adorable! I love that you throw in the “still no sideburns” comments every once in a while too 🙂

ahhh, those last few pictures made me yawn…. I hate the contagious yawn effect. I try to fight it, but then my jaw muscles tense up and I can’t resist it any more.

The last 2 photos made me laugh out loud! What a classic! You should frame them! My daughter and husband watch the TV with the exsact same expression…it’s beyond hilarious! You are a funny and lucky lady Mrs Bower!
Katie says
I’ll have to remember that nickname if I ever have a blonde baby…it’s hilarious!

Too cute! Love those pics!

Wow…Will’s yawn is exactly like Jeremy’s! My husband has been using the “BrodyFaces” lately to win me over. If we’re arguing he’ll scrunch up his brow and open his mouth just like my lil’ man and I can’t help it. I keel over with laughter. It’s amazing how much to offspring can look us.
Erin says
i totally just yawned looking at your boys yawning (i just yawned again writing this!)…talk about contagious!

Katie, Do you have any tips on how to help my breastfeeding baby girl develop some type of eating/sleeping routine? She is 3 weeks old and a morning nap- or any type of scheduled sleep- seems like such a distant dream! Thanks for any help you can offer! P.S. Will is, of course, a doll! 🙂
Jeanette says
Haha…so fun! I love the facial expressions they make!

Hi Sara,
Actually I am the last person in the world you should ask…Will was a fantastic napper (we would nap together with his head on my chest)…but a terrible night time sleeper. My only piece of advice that I can give people is this: learn your baby’s cues. Some kids do great with schedules (mine didn’t)…and don’t worry about it if your kids isn’t fitting into that ‘normal’ stuff….we always did the wake/eat/nap routine…but didn’t really stick to any clock-watching schedule. It’s gonna get easier!

Katie – I found your blog through YHL but this is my first comment. I just love these pictures of Will! He is seriously precious (as if you need anyone to tell you, right?) and his dark eyes remind me of my brother’s. Adorable.
Also, your blog is one of the reasons I’m trying to convince everyone I know to have a baby! It’s like outsourced baby fever or something. Oh well, eventually someone will jump on the bandwagon, right? 🙂
Whitney Dupuis says
Ok, I can’t stand it. He is so cute – especially that sweet kissy face.
Seriously though, how do you get all of your pictures with the perfect light balance? I struggle so much over that that I miss great photos. It is driving me nuts!
SouthernDomesticBliss says
Oh Em Gee the “no sideburns” comment and picture just made me laugh so hard! Seriously the most beautiful child ever.
Megan says
Too cute – and I think the no name one is definitely the Zoolander “Blue Steele”. Nice work Will, but can he turn left? (Get the reference?)
The Marconnets says
Will is absolutely precious! I think it is so cute that he has no sideburns! I am sure those will grow in as he gets older. Love your blog! It is one of my daily must reads! 🙂
Katie says
Honey – Zoolander quotes are not lost on me. I mean, I’m sure there’s more to life than being really really ridiculously
goodlookingobsessed with movies…and I plan on finding out what that is.xo – kb
Katie says
Welcome to the comments Nikki! And I love that his eyes remind you of your brothers…they kinda remind me of my bros too 🙂
And I love that you are trying to convince other people…it’s baby-peer-pressure…sortof.

So cute! I saw your blog from YHL and stopped over. Just had to comment on this one because your little boy is so precious 🙂 We have a 13 month old son that won’t sit still enough to try to watch TV. I am hoping that he will soon like to watch movies.
Heather S. says
Seriously! Like the cutest boy EVER. I don’t know how you get anything done. I could just hold him and stare at that precious face all day long 🙂
AGG says
Will is so cute…and it help it a lot that your pictures are so good and bright. If you have the time you really have to teach us how you take so good picture inside 🙂
P.S. My 11 month daughter always enjoys the picture of Will and try to give him kisses.. 😐
Katie says
So cute! Give that sweet baby girl kisses back from him. And I’ll definitely think about doing a post about indoor shooting…

Katie – I’ve been following your blog just recently, and let me tell you…I am so happy I found it! THANK YOU! I just love it : ) Gives me tips and comic relief and even my “awwwww” moments, all in one! Now to the question – where did you snag the pillows for the combo you have on your couch in these photos – the brown, navy and green ones?
Katie says
Hi Eileen,
Well, I am so happy you found it too! I love new friends…and especially ones that don’t judge me for having 2.39 million throw pillows on our couch 🙂 The navy one with polka dots is from PB teen, the green polka dotted one is Pier 1, the green with white branches is Ikea, the plain light blue is TJMaxx, the plain brown with flower stitched details is from Pier 1, and the multicolored one with navy and green and aqua is actually a placemat from Pottery Barn.

Christina says
Hey Katie! First and foremost…you crack. me. up. No giggling here. Just all out guffaws and belly laughs!!! I am new to your blog and just came across this one titled ‘Yawner’ and am wondering where you got those pillows? The yummy chocolate and the blues with greens? Be still my little pillow loving heart! Thanks for your help!! Take care.
Katie says
Welcome Christina! And let me just list off the sources really fast – for the photo that has all of the pillows pictured, from left to right – it goes Ikea, Pottery Barn Teen (outlet), Pier 1, Pottery Barn placemat turned pillow, Ikea, TJMaxx, and Ikea.
That should do it!

Christina says
Never mind Katie! I just read the comment right before mine where you answered my question! Thanks!
