Disclaimer – This isn’t sponsored…I just wanted to try this Wipe New product out because I am a nerd 🙂Â
Anybody that knows us knows this simple fact….we love our toys. Â We actually started off with a four-wheeler that my brother gave us and we had to put a couple hundred dollars into fixing it….but then eventually we sold it and bought a Gator. Â It was too big…too loud….it was clunky but Jeremy fixed it up and sold that. Â Then we bought our first Polaris. Â I think somewhere along the line, Jeremy decided that a 6×6 Polaris would be the right fit for our family (it has seat belts for kids if they want to ride and we use it for hauling brush and it’s just safer in general) Â So that’s what we are….a Polaris family.
And the funny thing is…most of the friends and family members – they have also have some sort of Polaris or four wheeler or ATV (some for hunting, some for recreation, some for property maintenance) and when we get together, its not weird for everyone to bring their vehicles and us to have that as an activity. Â It makes family holidays fun….we go ride in the woods, take the kids on a snail-crawl (it’s just a super slow ride through the flat extra wide paths) and can cross our super-shallow creek (it’s maybe 6 inches) and splash around in mud puddles. Â Growing up my mom always said that she wishes we had go-carts….which is hilarious to me because a. imagining my mom on a go-cart is just pure magic. Â and b. Â I feel like she passed down some of that love for zooming around in the woods.
And that being said – Jeremy and the boys are always on the lookout for new products to try out when it comes to maintenance.
And that is what today’s post is all about!  It’s a very Good Friday with a little Wipe New!  It totally goes….in a weird spiritual analogy kinda way 🙂  Our sins are wiped away and our souls are restored….kinda like our plastic hood.  Oh man…I am turning into my mom 🙂
So basically let’s just focus really quickly on this As-Seen-On-Tv product….and then we can get back to celebrating Good Friday as we should!  It’s a coating system that is completely new to us and we heard that you can use it on a variety of different surfaces (plastic and metal and stone and rubber, etc.) to make it come back to life.  It restores the color and is super easy because you just wipe it on.  The kit comes with a bottle of the liquid and some terry cloth wipes and sponge.  It also has gloves and a detail applicator stick and a pre-wet wipe inside a pouch.
The first one we tried it on was the dark green Polaris….this one isn’t ours…that’s a good tip….try new products on someone else’s vehicle 🙂
This hood has a lot of fading and scratches and it looks like a chemical caused color loss.
We used the mini-wipe on the hood and we were pleasantly surprised that the wipe easily restored a deeper shade of green and some of that color loss (near the hood symbol) was evened out.  The shine isn’t as great as some other products we have used….BUT this doesn’t wash off either.  Other shine products do.  And remember – this is a protection/restoration product so shine is a bonus 🙂
The next toy we tried it on was the emerald green plastic. Â This one we noticed a lot more sun oxidation….so we felt like it was a great candidate for this product. Â In this case, I used the little bottle of Wipe New and one of the rags. Â It’s easier to do that to get lots of product on the plastic.
I wiped down one side of the hood and just look at the difference….HUGE.
The color definitely darkens and the minor little scratches all disappear. Â This got me excited because I love finding new products that actually work.
And this is how it looked an hour later after it dried. Â As you can see, the color depth and shine still stays (and yes, you can use another shine product later if you wish) and the color definitely was restored to at least two shades darker.
And here are side-by-sides….one in the sunlight and one in the garage.
So then came another test site….the boat. Â My grandfather had this boat for years and it’s gotten passed around the family. Â We have had it for the past few years and I was excited to see if the Wipe New had any effect here.
First we washed the boat and made sure it was very dry. Â And then we pulled out the Wipe New to see if it could restore some of the 1980s original color.
Immediately I noticed the deepening of the brown.  It went multiple shades darker and that was really nice to see…nostalgic and made me feel like my Pappap would be proud 🙂
I did all the dark brown parts first but realized that I should just do the whole thing. Â It takes literally minutes because it’s just wiping a liquid on….no buffing or waiting.
Even the light brown parts were restored really nicely in color and it was really encouraging because it says it protects too. Â Obviously areas that are worn off (like the paint was chipped or rubbed away) won’t be colored back to their original color but I’m cool with that. Â It looks so much better. Â I wonder if it was even more effective on the boat because it was fading from water? Â I don’t know.
Lastly we tried it on our red Polaris and this baby needed a little help. Â We bought it used and the plastic hood has some weird color effect on it from water or a tarp or something. Â It used to have a shield on the front (think low windshield) and that has since been removed but the oxidation from sun coming through the glass is very evident.
See the white areas from the windshield oxidation? Â That is clean and dried. Â And then the chemical water marks on the hood? And check out those gray hinges.
This is the before….
And during….
You just pour a little of the liquid on your rag and wipe it on. Â I found that you don’t want to be stingy. Â As long as it’s not dripping, you can’t do too much.
And after…
I don’t know why that picture looks pink….must be the angle…but in real life it is at least two shades darker and all the oxidation from the shield is gone.
Boom and boom! Â Pretty nice right?!
I’m really happy with the results and I told Jeremy that I can’t wait to try this product on all the neighbors vehicles too.  Yes, we live in the south and everyone we know has a Gator/ATV/four-wheeler….or they want one 🙂 #rednecksunite
So if you are into toys too….you know where to go 🙂  I am interested next in trying it on some home decor items….outdoor plastic chairs, lights, metal tables!  I’ll let you know how it goes if I do.  And if you are interested in more details – here is a link to the product description….
And for those of you that own no toys and could care less….do you have one of these yet? Â It’s a PopSocket and it changed my life this week.
I put it on my phone and I’m addicted.  It helps you hold your phone if you have smaller hands and so you can scroll with one hand and it also props your phone up for kids to watch videos or FaceTime!  Obsessed 🙂  Here is a link with a bunch of different designs!  Mine is the black marble one found here.
Now let’s all get back in that grateful spirit of Easter and hope that you have a very Good Friday!

Foroutdoor plastic chairs or kid ride on toys or whatever, just spray clear spray paint on it. It restores it beautifully!

I haven’t tried a Pop Socket…but I have a Loopy case and it’s amazing!! Couldn’t live without it. It’s essentially the same concept – except it’s a loop. So I can just loop it on my finger (like a ring) and hold my phone while also holding baby/drink/toddler hand/backpack etc. It still slips in/out of back pockets easily (and front pockets – my husband tried). Also double as a phone stand for when kids watch my phone!

I used the wipe new for headlights…it’s amazing!! And it was half the effort of the other brand I tried(which also didn’t work very well). I was skeptical that the results would last being that it was so easy…but it’s been almost 6 months and just looks the same as the day I put it on. I’m on your bandwagon…it’s definitely good stuff 🙂
