It’s been a while since our last Will-fest…so I thought this would be a fine time to celebrate a few of the photos that have been lingering on my hard drive.
Will is highly skilled at stacking. I think I mentioned this before.
He’s up to 17 blocks…which is more than I can do. And he gets all Michael-Jordan with it too…tongue out when he’s slam-dunking-his-awesomeness on those blocks.
Will is also obsessed with cleaning. I have no idea why since monkey-didn’t-see-but-monkey-do-anyways. Whenever someone else vacuums, it’s like his personal mission to teach them the superiority of his mad cleaning skills.
Everyday when Jer pulls in the driveway (it’s like 6:30 or 7 by the time he gets home), we wait in the driveway to greet him and give him big (sometimes muddy) hugs….and then Will asks for two things – “goff ball” or “dive car”.
Will is also learning the skills of facial communication. I call this the “whatch-you-talkin-bout-Willis” face…which actually is quite funny because he thinks I call him Willis and he responds with ‘noffin’.
Gorilla face…don’t think he’s got that concept yet.
Besides cleaning, he also LOVES to cook. How in the world did I have Marty freakin Stewart as a son?!
The only problem is that he also likes to sample the uncooked goods…..fine when it’s spaghetti sauce – not so hot when it’s raw eggs. I tell him “no honey, that’s got yucky eggs” and he says “no yucky mommy – eggs….hmmmM!”
We struggle with getting food into the Tinkler (which is weird since he loves to make food – just not eat it. And especially weird since he was 9lbs 11 oz at birth – I mean….he comes from good eaters!). So any chance we get to give him calorie laden food, we jump.
That explains why I take more photos of him eating than normal folks would of their kid.
I can’t help it though. I figure it’s my way of celebrating the small accomplishments….one spoonful at a time.
Perhaps my favorite photo of May…
I kinda love this one too….for totally different reasons. This is what he does when we promise him ice cream….just jams it all in there and says “AWWDO” which in chubby bunny language means “all done”.
We have been doing a lot of painting lately. He’s actually pretty good since he became obsessed with circles.
Don’t get me wrong – the kid knows a circle and how to wield a paint brush but he still can’t count to three. He says “One – three – W” and then laughs hysterically. Is there any chance he’s a genius and playing pranks on dear old mom? Yeah. I didn’t think so.
Over Memorial day weekend, we made these pretzels dipped in chocolate and then rolled in sprinkles. They are kinda addicting. Thus says the pregnant girl who thinks all food is addicting right now.
Horse head.
One of my absolute favorite things is to sneak up on Will when he’s watching a movie. He’s had a fever this past week so there has been lots of Jungle Book 2 at our house.
The positions he’s in to watch are my favorite. It’s literally a surprise every time.
Anyhoo – so that’s what we’ve been up to…you know…besides assembling patio furniture, hanging light fixtures and sewing curtains. (I know!!!) What have you guys been up to lately?

I love kids at this age and their love of ‘helping’. My 3 yr old actually wants to vacuum every day and gets really upset if I tell him no… I mean, I don’t want to vacuum every day!
And Will is super cute, but I’d love to see some baby bump photos too!
Hilary says
Ohhh can’t wait to see the new furniture!! And I am loving Marty freakin Stewart… does he get if from his daddy?

Handsome little guy!!!

I love Will-fests! Btw, is his hair getting redder or is it just the lighting on some of those photos? I love it! Then again, I am partial to redheads since my husband is one. 🙂
Have a great weekend!

Awww. I always love to see pics of Will. I have a little tinkler who is turning 2 next friday (!!) and a lot of the stuff it seems that Will does, Quinn does as well. Cracks me up when I read your posts and I’m all, “Yup, that looks familiar!”
This weekend we are up to sewing t-shirts for the Quinnster, going to a high school graduation party, teaching a sewing lesson, tiling a backsplash and getting ready for the second birthday party next saturday. Whew! I’m exhausted just thinking about all of it!

Your circle comment reminded me of our parent teacher meeting for my son when he was in preschool. They said, “Owen is really good at drawing circles”. I paused for a second, then the NJ came pouring out with…”his name is Owen, of course he can draw a circle!”. You can take a girl out of NJ, but you can never take the NJ out of her. 😉

I’ve been reading your blog for awhile now and think your hysterical. I just had to say that the picture of “your boyfriend” and Will stirring is great! The love is just pouring out of both of them especially Jeremy, the look in his eyes is saying I love my family especially my hot preggor wife. You have a great family just felt like I needed to tell ya these pics are so nice.

I can’t get over it, your son is so stinking cute! What a big personality for a little guy.

It’s crazy hair! I don’t know where he got that chestnut hair with red undertones…it’s like I ate too many red skittles or something when I was pregnant 🙂

The cleaning thing…not so much the cooking. We say that we wouldn’t be surprised if Will grew up to be a chef or owning a resturaunt 🙂

True story…
When my son was in Pre-K he would not count. He would not say his ABC’s. He would not tell me what shape I was holding. Nothing.
In early May it was time for kindergarten round up. I was terrified that he was not ready, not smart enough, and maybe there was something wrong with him.
When I picked him up from Pre-K I told his teacher my concerns. I told her how worried I was, and I asked for her professional opinion…is he ready?
She looked at me like I was an idiot. Then she called my son over and told him to sing the alphabet for me. He looked at me like…”Oh shit, busted.”
Dude could id letters, shapes, numbers, and sing the stupid song. He is now going into 2nd grade. He reads on a 3rd grade level, does math at a 5th grade level, and reminds me daily how smart he is.
His favorite current trick…subtracting positive and negative integers.
Boys.

I laughed at the ‘whatyoutalkin’boutWillis’ comment and photo because we say that to our kids all the time too! There is a really funny clip of it on Youtube that we showed the kids when they kept asking why we were saying that to them (they are now 8 and 5 and are well used to is now!) It has been edited to show little Willis repeating whatyou whatyou whatyou whatyou over and over and then whatyoutalkin’boutWillis…so cute! Loved Diff’rent Strokes when I was a kid, all the way across the world in New Zealand. We live in Australia now after our home town of Christchurch got devastated by earthquakes. The Aussies’ sense of humour is a bit odd sometimes…have never heard any of them reference Willis!

I look at one picture and think “Holy Katie” then I look at the next and think “Holy Jeremy”
Who do you he think he looks most like? Or do you do the same thing? Either way, one cute kiddo!
I can already totally see “first” picture of him holding and looking down at his new brother or sister (Sister, if you ask me)

Such a cutie! He is getting so big..he is outgrowing that baby look and is now such a boy!
I have fond memories of going to the corner of our street with my twin sister and waiting for our father to come home from work and stop at the corner to pick us up and drive us home, all 500 ft!! Such good memories he will have…you’re a good Mommy!

Adorable and a half. Love the “Willis” face the best.
NO matter what the temperature ( it’s freakin’ 55 right now-where is SUMMER???)
we are building a half stucco ( over cement block) half lattice backyard fence. Oh Joy.
My reward will be going to see the movie Prometheus and the start of Bend’s free summer concert series on Sunday. Woohoo, the big city! With luck I won’t have to wear a coat 😛
ps-Don’t sweat the food thing with a toddler. By the time he is a teen, he’ll be a bottomless pit.

He is just too cute! I love all the tv watching positions!
Katie says
Oh yeah – everyone says that about him – that he looks so much like both of us. But I got that growing up about both my parents too…so it’s natural to me now 🙂

ha! We whipped out the baby pool today! It’s funny how different the temperature is in different places!

He is so cute, but these posts exhaust me~ I love the DIY, home improvement, etc etc posts~ but the ones like this make it feel like a personal family blog (similar to your post when you announced your pregnancy at 4 1/2 weeks) and it’s these that I click out of instantly. We all have cute kids, but I know that no one wants to see 84 pics of my kid. The stalker blog followers (that don’t know you personally) will rage at the thought of me writing this, but I’m just being honest. You’re making a lot of money with this blog through advertisers and as a reader, I love the helpful, inspirational, project posts. I just wish the few bloggers out there who cross the line would leave the heavy doses of personal, to their personal life. A second, family blog for interested family members would be great for the 150 pics of the same child. I can see where the constant reassurance that the stalker readers pour over you is a confidence, self-esteem booster~ who doesn’t like the polite ooh’s and ah’s over your kid- but come on. You don’t really need it. Why put the rest of us through it?
amy says
he’s a cutie! love seeing all the tv watching positions. my almost 3 year old thinks she needs to be “nekkie” in order to watch a movie and truly relax. try explaining that to company. we’re hoping she’ll outgrow it before the slumber party phase hits 🙂
hope will is feeling better!

He looks just like you!! How fun, these pictures are great. I just started checking this blog out and I love it! But seriously, you have the exact same smile. Adorable!
Katie says
Dear Katherine,
Well, the funny thing is – this is a personal family blog…it just happens to have other folks that tune in for all sorts of random reasons. If you would like to skip the ‘heavy doses of personal’ that ‘cross the line’ and ‘put you through it’, well, I won’t hold it against ya 🙂
Much love!

Dang – I wish I lived in your area. I’d totally hire these guys. Fun post to read – Will is cute as always.

I bet if you did only kid picture sprees every day for 2 months- your advertisers that are paying you LOTS would have something to say about it. It’s not posts like these that give companies like True Value reason to advertise. This blog is a nice forum for you to get the back rubs from the polite readers, but high paid blogs offer something to their readers (something more than pictures of a kid they don’t know). Your readers that say they just love posts like this are truly kind~ the reality is that they don’t know you or the people in the pictures they are admiring~ no explanation is needed for how weird this is (and even weirder that people are so desensitized that they can’t see that it’s crazy). It’s like buying a picture frame at Michaels and leaving the stock photograph in the frame because it’s a cute family. Wha??? I kept trying to sift through all the indulgent posts for something helpful, but they are becoming few and far between. That’s the truth. I’m moving on to more useful blogs (and away from crazy).
Katie says
Good luck and best wishes!

It’s “personal” posts like this one that I enjoy the most. I don’t mind the diy stuff but I love hearing about Katie’s family, pregnancy, etc. So I guess people read for different reasons and everyone has their favorite posts. If there’s a post you aren’t interested in, just skip it.
Melissa says
I think your header “the blog about nothing and everything” clearly puts out that you are not just a DIY/Decor blog. Also, I hardly think True Value is angry about YOUR BLOG POSTINGS! You don’t need to mention them in every post! Why are some people so crabby?! But onto more important things…like how adorable Will is! It looks like our sons are pretty similar! I must ask…where is that blue and white shirt from that he is wearing!? I want it for my son!
Keep doing what you are doing!
Love ya, KB!
Katie says
aww thanks Melissa – and it’s from Children’s Place – it just went on sale a few months ago so they might still carry it!

Wow, that Katherine chick is a beeeyotch (Please excuse my language)! It’s going to be hard for her to get away from “the crazy” because apparently she is the definition of crazy, so yeah…good luck to you Katherine!

I just read this in a devotional yesterday- so very fitting for some of the commenters: “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Ephesians 4:29
And Katie, in the Bible, Paul says, “We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.” 🙂

Katie,
I tell ya – Will is beyond precious! I love these posts! I can’t help but smile when I see that infectious grin.

I love the picture of the vacuuming! I just got that Dust Buster one from my mom and I love it for hard floors! I also love the golfing picture – my husband is a HUGE golfer, and I’m pretty sure he’ll be asking for golf clubs for future kids at a baby shower!

Katherine-
I think Katie will *somehow* manage to go on with her life if you decide to no longer read HER blog.

This has got to be one of my FAVORITE post ever! You guys are too adorable and so funny! My favorite pictues has to be the weird position he does when watching a movie, couldn’t stop laughing. Keep it up Katie =-)
