Just like last year, we are back to share our anniversary celebration. Yup, it’s been three years since Jeremy (AKA “the boyfriend”) and I tied the knot. The big day was October 6th, 2007. And yes, I have officially written Obama to request that this day be renamed “Happiest Day of the World”. I am still awaiting a response Barack. And I won’t accept that whole the-republicans-ate-my-letter-excuse again.
Seriously though folks…not only did I get to marry my best friend but then last year, I got to relive the entire experience when I wrote all about our wedding. It was just too fun to not do again. So in true Wedding Week fashion, we are here for an entire week of up-close-and-personal information on how he and I became, well, a “we”.
Last year, ABP helped us celebrate the entire wedding week event with a recap of our nuptials and the surrounding partay. (and yes, I know that was misspelled. it was for effect. and because I like saying “partaaaay”.) And this year, I wanted to give a little more info on our engagement (the Before) and honeymoon (the After), our anniversary presents for this year (clue: 3 years traditional wedding gift is LEATHER – and no, it was not leather pants.) and we even have a little Q&A video of us answering Facebook questions…which I must say is probably my favorite thing because my JEREMY talks in it….that’s right…his first ever verbal appearance right here on Bower Power. Talk about exciting!
But before we get too excited about what is to come, let’s remind you of how we celebrated last year’s wedding week. We started off the whole shindig with a recap of what I wore…a Maggie Sottero gown with an extra long veil tucked under a head full of curls. And since I didn’t want to spend any of our wedding budget on flowers (I figured they would just die anyway and I am not really a flowery type of girl, I didn’t feel like it was that important to me), I carried an heirloom bible instead. Something old? check. Something borrowed? double check. And since I wanted our portraits to have a nod to the south, it was only fitting that I had a white paper parasol…ordered for cheap from a party supply store.
Then I told you guys about our paper trail…the save the dates, the invites and even the bridal party updates. Yup, I took it upon myself to design everything myself (I would have totally used Etsy back then if I knew it existed!). Our STD’s (heehee) were actually magnets and to this day, I love seeing our silly faces on the fridges of friends & family.
Then came my favorite part…the ceremony. If I failed to mention it – our ceremony was my absolute-hands-down-without-a-doubt best part of our wedding day. Note that I said DAY 🙂 I don’t think that it could have been any more special, any more US, and any more of an emotional and fully spiritual event. I loved it. I tear up just thinking about it. I wish you could have been there.
Of course, after any ceremony comes the (say it with me) PARTAAAY! And yes, since we were married on the day the University of Georgia (where I attended my senior year of college) and the University of Tennessee (Jer’s home team) played football, we got a shot of all our friends signalling TOUCHDOWN. By the way…it was a fluke that UT won. Let’s just put that out there.
Details of our reception were also revealed…like our wedding cake, our centerpieces, and how we incorporate wedding decor in our house now. Hey it was free home decor…you don’t say no to that 🙂
Lastly we answered some FAQ that came up – everything from how we handled photos to what we ate pre-ceremony.
Whew! What a good time. More fun than Lady Gaga in a dress made of meat…in an animal shelter.
So stay tuned for this coming week and all the flashbacks and new info revealed during our wedding week celebration…

Very cool, we have the same wedding date! I’m a new reader and I love your anniversary reflections….especially since hubby and I are laying in bed right now flipping through “our memories” and drunken messages from friends from 100607 🙂
Maybe we can get together and re-petition for “Happiest Day of the World”

Happy anniversary (a bit early)! I’m looking forward to the Q&A video, and I laughed out loud at “And I won’t accept that whole the-republicans-ate-my-letter-excuse again.”

Hooray, I love when people put their weddings up – especially when they’re gorgeous weddings full of brilliantly happy people. Seriously, just seeing your guys’ big smiles totally made my morning, I even pulled out my own wedding album. So thanks for the bright start to today! (btw, I promise I’m not starting my day at 10:30, I live in MST).

I second that notion to have October 6th renamed the happiest day of the world – Mike and I were married on 10.6.07 as well! Have a wonderful day tomorrow!

That very same thing happened on my wedding day, Jan 5th 2007. Absolutely the “Happiest Day of the World”. We have been together for 6 years and 3 months now and not a day goes by when I am not grateful for my wonderful wonderful husband.
Congratulations to you two, you look both wonderful and happy in the pictures!
