So let’s talk a little more about marraige.
Marewidge. Marewidge is what bwings us togetha today. (name that movie)
Anyhoo, I got quite a few emails asking some specific questions about our wedding. I thought that the best way to answer all these inquiries would be to just write them all in a post. So here are some answers to the frequently asked questions about our wedding:
1. Did you design your invitations yourself?
Yup – I sure did. I did have the help of a local letterpress company in order to get them printed though.
2. Could we get a close-up on the wedding party updates?
You might be wondering what a ‘wedding party update’ is…well, it is a little Bower Wedding Information page for our groomsmen & bridesmaids. It contained information like addresses, phone numbers, a note from the bride or groom, and overall details of the schedule, wardrobes and important locations.
Since we had fourteen groomsmen & bridesmaids plus a very handsome ringbearer – the updates were the easiest way to ensure everyone had all the needed information (and eliminated the need for me to repeat it 14+ times).
And if you are interested in seeing the nitty-gritty on these updates – here are the pdf’s.
3. Where did you find the ring ceremony? Did you write it yourself?
Our ‘ring ceremony’ or our special twist on the traditional exchange of rings took place in our ceremony. We wrote it ourselves keeping in mind that rings are only a symbol, an outward sign, and a gift that is from each other. As a gift, we thought it was most fitting to tell each other what they represent…instead of having our minister do it for us. In the end, the ring ceremony was a huge stress and both Jeremy & I felt so proud that we memorized the entire thing. Of course, there was alot of this going on before the ceremony for me to remember the lines:
4. How did you talk your friends into playing a whole soundtrack for your wedding?
Well, actually you would be surprised what can be accomplished when you kidnap a few favorite pets and threaten them with Italian relatives. Seriously though – my mom is an accomplished musician with many musical friends and students. She arranged all the pieces and did all the brunt work!
5. I love your hair & makeup! Did you pay for someone to do it for you or did you do it yourself?
My hair was done by a local hairdresser. I chose the style based on a photo I saw of Grace Kelly. My stylist added the little twists on the side because I had TONS of whispy little hairs that wouldn’t stay back and I didn’t want a helmet of hairspray. The makeup was done by yours truly. And yes, I wore fake eyelashes on my wedding day.
6. Did you take photos with Jeremy before the ceremony?
Nope. Call us nutty-traditionalists, but we decided to wait until the ceremony to see each other. We did get a bazillion photos with our families though. We even included our direct relatives into our wedding party by asking them to sport the wedding party colors – black & white. And after the ceremony when we got our ‘newly formed’ family photo – the cohesive look really made us appear that everyone was going to tackle this union together.
7. How did you relax before the ceremony started? Were you just a bundle of nerves?
Well, Jeremy & the boys played pool & ping pong….
…and did strike a few too many poses for our photogs. This one gets filed under ‘how not to model a tuxedo’…most of the boys look constipated. Or like they are working on something. Or like they got it.
And yes – we have this photo in our living room 🙂
As for me?
Well, I did what brides shouldn’t do before attempting to squeeze into a perfectly altered wedding dress. I ate.
God bless Chickfila.
One day I should write them a letter telling them how much I appreciated the energy that their lemonade gave me and the breath that ensued from the Spicy dressing. Boy – Jeremy was in for a surprise when it came to that first kiss 🙂
So there you have it – all the details that I failed to mention before. I hope you guys enjoyed Wedding Week(s) here at Bower Power and stay tuned for next Monday where we return to our normally scheduled home decor updates, a reader’s room redo, and life at the Bower house (with a spooky twist!).

Amy beat me to it.
My sisters arranged for our pastor to start our wedding rehearsal with those lines. Definitely lightened the mood and made for a fun evening.

I had Chick fil A before my wedding, too. Luckily didn’t get any polynesian sauce on my dress. 🙂

I’m thinking Monty Python and the Holy Grail. My husband is a pastor and he loves to use the lines from the scene to scare a few brides to be.

p.s. I ate on my wedding day too. I couldn’t help it – I was starving! Even though I told her I didn’t want to eat in my dress, my mom came prepared with a turkey sandwich and one of my bridesmaids let me borrow her top to catch crumbs. It was delicious!
