Ya know what is super awesome and hilarious?
This video we made with Ana White and her husband Jacob….(you will want to watch till the very end!)…
Okay – so any video with Jeremy on the toilet is a winner, amiright?!
I was so excited to share this with you guys and I really know you love it as much as I do! I mean…it’s got Ana White, a Will Ferrel movie reference and tasty crackers. What more could a christmas-lovin-person want?!
So you may be wondering – how did this glittery shimmering monster gem of a video come to be? Well, Ana & Jacob were in Atlanta for business and we had just spent a fun time together at a Rust-Oleum event (remember that blog post?) and we invited them and their kids over to hang out. Well….”hanging out” to families that love DIY translates into “let’s make something awesome!” The video and our two epic holiday projects were the love children of Bowers and Whites. You can quote me on that 🙂
The best part is that we actually did walk away with great little projects (even if Ana is completely embarrassed that she made something toilet-related….we love it!)….and here are so more detail shots…
I will get to share the tutorial on the christmas tree cutting board soon and also OUR version of “son of a nutcracker”!
So now here is the best part! You get to tell us which one won the showdown of family vs family! It’s the battle of Frigid Alaskan vs Dirty South! Is it gonna be a very WHITE christmas with their toilet paper holder masterpiece? Or a Bower Power Blitzen with our cutting board creation?! You get to decide! Vote below to determine the winner….
And one other HUGE piece of news! Ana and Jacob are doing a new show on the DIY Network! I KNOW! So exciting! If you want to see more of this amazingly talented building duo, then tune in to BUILDING OFF THE GRID on TUESDAY at 10PM. That’s right. You voted. Now go set the DVR. Or set a reminder on your phone. Or do whatever you need to do to support this awesome family. They’re building OFF THE GRID! And you can even win a dream Alaskan vacation – so go to Ana-White.com and do whatever you gotta do to win and then remember to take me with you to this wintery wonderland!
Now that you have done all that, there is one more thing on your to-do list. Go subscribe to our YouTube channel. Seeing you click that little button helps me know you want more videos like this one! Wishing you a very happy day and a full roll in your bathroom 🙂

Are you that insecure that you couldn’t let Ana do something awesome? I did not like the video. I would have enjoyed two useful projects. Not real funny.
Ana White says
HI Katie, thank you so much for inviting us over and letting us do this Build-Off with you. We can’t stand to admit it but our new cutting board is too gorgeous for words. XO Ana
Deb says
I never comment on blogs, but had to comment on this one…lol! What a way to end the video! BEST ending ever!!
Katie says
Someone is having a bad day eh? 🙂
Seriously though…they chose their own project and it is both useful and awesome!!! I love it!
If you want two (or two thousand) helpful projects – I definitely suggest visiting Anas catalog of builds – it’s for anyone looking for serious inspiration!

Lol. I follow both of you guys, and it was a hard pick… but, I had to go with the toilet paper holder. It was way too funny (and really creative). Love those Whites!
Sarah says
Definitely worth watching to the end! I love when blogging worlds come together!
Cheryl says
I agree. I’m glad I watch until the end because it was hilarious.
Now, about the voting. I LOVE how both projects turned out. How can I pick?
Great job!
Katie says
You can vote for both 😉

Jessica says
LOVE THIS! Both of you did a great job! Now, when are you Bowers going to get a TV show?! Seriously – you guys are awesome!
Samantha says
Love the whole video and both projects, but the ending totally takes the cake! Hysterical!
Katie says
Aww thank you. We have been approached so many times but right now we love the idea of just partnering with other bloggers and doing these fun videos!

Loved it!

Well . . . I have to say that this was a “build-off” and so the Whites win because they are the only team that actually BUILT anything. Cutting a pre-made glue-up certainly doesn’t count! Even if it is super cute . . . . Now if I had seen you mill and glue and clamp that cutting board AND cut it and sand it and finish it in under and hour, that would have been truly impressive.
Seriously though, what a fun little video. Good times!
Jessica Holmes says
Umm, I voted chopping board but didn’t watch the video…if it’s supposed to be christmas related, then I stand by my vote…if it goes on practicality then I vote toilet roll holder 🙂
Sherri says
That was fun! The TP holder wasn’t a bad idea, but it looks like the country style of the 80’s. The cutting board could be marketed. What a great Christmas gift. But it was just fun watching you guys, so bring on more build-offs with the Whites or other DIYers!!
Denise says
You called it Katie! Video is hysterical, especially the end! LOVE and voted for your project! BTW life is too short to be serious all the time, wink wink!
April says
If they were presents offered to me, I would highly prefer to receive the cutting board… but I had to vote for the toilet paper holder because their creativity points were off the chart. Both projects were great!
Bobbi Sue Hiber says
WOW… SOME NEGATIVE NELLIE’S COMMENTING….GEEZ GALS. IT’S ALL IN FUN! BOTH PROJECTS WERE GREAT AND IT WAS A HYSTERICAL VIDEO! WELL DONE!
Julianne says
I would have been totally stumped by your category for the White’s project… but what really stumped me, is how did you get all of your combined Children to sleep for the same hour so you 4 could do this?!?!
Katie says
Well, technically speaking Will doesn’t nap – he watched the show with Gracie (we call that taking a rest) and we are pros now at getting LJ, Weston and Max down together. It’s the only way to get a break 🙂

Loved the nutcracker project 🙂
