This is what you see:
This is what you don’t:
Things are not as they seem here in the Bower household. When you see a neat and tidy room, there are four spaces that look like a tropical storm just hit. Obviously the Tropical Storm prefers to snack on Cheez-It crackers while destroying her dining room (that also holds large trash bags of clothing & shoes that are due for the donation pile) and she uses a stool from the kitchen to stand on to take tablesetting photos. Also, you may notice that the mystery mark on the dining room table isn’t actually fixed. Just photo edited for the prestigious Pier 1 people.
Yes, Tropical Storm does photoshop 🙂
YEAH! Thanks for keeping it real. I appreciate your honesty in the behind the scene photos. I visit you often and love your style. You have inspired me and I laugh often. Please keep the great ideas coming. GOBBLEGOBBLEGOBBLE!
I LOVE your table settings! Soooo cute! I have those adorable bird salt and pepper shakers you saw in the store! You can see them in action on my blog here:

Thanks for sharing!

HA! I love it!
And I’m SO glad to know that I’m not the only one!
I LOVED your post btw. You really have such a great skill for putting this together.
I just finished my Pier 1 post, I wonder if we can link up to OTHER bloggers Pier 1 posts?
I want too!
hmm… I’ll have to ask.
Great work!

haha, my photoshoots are always very similar! thanks for sharing your “real life” with us 🙂
P.S. love love love the table settings, especially “Christmas at the Beach”!
Haha…you make me laugh. I love the behind the scenes view. 🙂
I also loved the New Year’s table setting.
That’s hilarious! yeah, sometimes when we’re getting ready to show off a room we realize something’s not done or an electricl cover is mixed in with another rooms and we don’t want to sort them out. We’re just like, welp, we’ll shoot around it!
Loooove that you are NORMAL!!!
This is my favorite post that you’ve ever done in my life. In your life. Whatever, it was great!
I love the tablesettings, but what I love more is that you live in a real home, a LIVED in home, and you are not ashamed to show it. Mucho respectivo (it’s another dialect of Spanish, I promise)!!! haha. 😉
I’ve been following your blog for a couple weeks now, and have been growing more and more fond of your writing style and apparent love of life. But it’s now official: I want to be your friend. You’re one cool mama.
Just thought I’d let you know. Love (both) the articles about Pier 1 (I looove Pier 1).

PS what type of camera/lens do you use? I may have just missed it, but am definitely curious.
Oooh I LOVE the star setting the best!! You sure do set a lovely table, Mrs. Bower!! 🙂
Thank you SO much for posting this. I look at all of your posts and think, Wow, her house is gorgeous, maybe I should get off my tush and put the laundry away! So glad to know you have messes too.

Thank you so much sharing the behind the scene photos. My kids are the daily tornado in my house. From 6am – 8 pm my house looks like a tornado and earthquake struck simultaneously. I am a neat freak at heart though so I usually put everything back in it’s place after they go to bed. It is a losing battle.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! It’s encouraging to see a messy house. Makes me feel normal.
Hi Morgan,
Aww thanks…obviously we are already close…I mean, we both like Pier 1 🙂 And my camera gear was outlined in this post.

I love the table settings and how exciting you got to go on a shopping spree at Pier 1!
I know you are crafty and think you’d like my project I just made :O)
Take a look when you have time.

You guys did great! I really like the pic with the bride on the swing.
LOVE IT! I am totally not on your level, but I do this all the time, too! It’s great. Just leave everything to the imagination… and hopefully that “imagination” is “your house is perfect & spotless!”
