First off – let’s just clarify one thing.
This photo was taken 48 hours after giving birth. I only wish I looked semi-human after the actual event. I actually looked like a swollen troll.
Secondly – I know you all are beggin’ for the birth story. However, I don’t want to forget anything so I am in the midst of documenting everything that I feel is important for me to remember. No six paragraph birth story here folks. It might not be your cup of tea to read a ridiculously detailed and long recap of all the events – so you get-to-the-point-people will have to wait for the clift notes to come out.
And C – you guys wanted some photos. And my camera is getting a Jillian Michaels style workout. So here are a couple to tie you over until I actually sort through the bazillions and do some editing.
Lastly – a huge thank you to all our faithful readers who understand that this is a HUGE transitional time for us (nothing says transition like learning how to feed a human from your boob) and that posting will be a little touch and go for the next month or so. I love your support, prayers and comments. You truly are good friends!
Kate says
Kate, you are amazing. He is just beautiful. Remember to enjoy every minute, those of us in blogland(who have little people of our own) will be waiting when you drop in. Congrats from Australia on a beautiful boy- and a great name(my Will is 3 months old).
Katrina says
Simply gorgeous! Having a baby is a huge thing and surely nobody can expect you to get back to posting straight away. Take your time and enjoy every minute xx
Amanda says
He is soooo beautiful! Don’t give up on the breastfeeding. It is so hard in the beginning, but really, really worth it! Everything gets easier at around the 6 week mark. You can do it!
emma says
ok, the 2nd to last one of your BF holding the little one is PRECIOUS!
Amanda says
Happy to wait until you’re all settled in with Will! Hope you’re having a great time as a new mom!
I’ll definitely be one of the people reading every detail of your birth story! I want to have children someday, so it’ll be nice to do!
Ana says
He is GORGEOUS!! And I think he looks like his dad a bit. I am actually amazed that you’re posting anything at all. As a mother of 2, I know just how busy you are as soon as the baby arrives. Hope you’re getting enough sleep and a lot of help!
ERIN says
Congratulations! Your baby is beautiful and it sounds like you really had to work for him 😉 Good luck with the nursing thing – it is insanely difficult at times and combined with postparteum hormones it is seriously enough to send any sane woman over the edge at times! I will pray it all works smoothly for you as it is the most wonderful bonding experience (once you get it down!)
Danielle says
He is beautiful! Congratulations! (And so are you by the way…you DO NOT look like a swollen troll! LOL)
Susan says
Well done! He is absolutely perfect. ENJOY!
Amanda says
Congrats on such a gorgeous baby. Take your time with the birth story – we can wait, but sleep cannot! Get it whenever you can. And the nursing is the worst for the first two weeks, then it gets soooo much better. Think of it as the Before and After pics for Biggest Loser – it is that drastic. Be sure he has his little bottom lip flared out, or you will be the one crying…I know from sad experience! But all so very worth it.
Agatha says
Congratulations for your beautiful angel he is truly fabulous!I am from Greece and i love your blog!I Think u r an amazing woman and i love your ideas and your humor!I wish the best for u and ur family
Bianca says
A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS Katie and Jeremy on the special addition to your family. Will is truly beautiful and I’m guessing you two could cuddle him all day.
I am a huge fan of reading your blog (im in Australia) and amazed how quickly you posted your 1st 2 posts since Will’s arrival. I am a mum of 2 special girls (aged 5 and 3) and they are truly the best part of our lives.
Enjoy every moment, hard to believe, but time quickly slips by when you have sweet little entertainers around (children). You’ll know what I mean in time.
All the best you 3.
Bianca

Christy says
Will is such a handsome baby boy! Enjoy all the moments you need with him. They go by way too fast – as my son is already 5 and it feels like just a little while ago that I was bringing him home for the first time – with a story very similar to what yours looks like it turned out to be. I planned on an au-natural birth, but got put on pitocin and shortly thereafter his heartrate went crazy so we went in for a “emergency” c-section even though it wasn’t yet an emergency. Better safe than sorry, I say. Anyway – when he was born he was 10.5 lbs. So I understand the big baby thing – at least they are usually fairly healthy when they are big. I have 3 and they all learned to sleep through the night fairly quickly once I got them on a schedule. I watched their eating schedule for the first week or two, then I tried to make it more consistent for them. I got a lot of helpful tips from the book “Baby Wise”. I didn’t use all the tips, but the scheduling tip made it easier to make sure my kids had eaten enough and weren’t eating all the time either and then they fell asleep easier I thought. Anyway, best wishes as you raise your son. I know God will help you and your boyfriend be the best parents you can be. Prayer is sometimes all that keeps you together during those first few months. 🙂 Well, that and a great boyfriend. 🙂
krys72599 says
I like each and every photo but I think my favorite is dad and son – there’s just something about your guy and a baby – we have no babies but when I see hubby cootchie-coo the chubby cheeks of our neighbor’s son? Well, I get all warm and mushy inside and that holds true for ANYONE’S boyfriend/hubby and a baby!!!
Lindsey @ Sound Eats says
Oh my gosh, so precious! So happy for you two, and of course we all support you, send prayers and will still be here whenever you stop by. 🙂
Susan says
I love your blog, Will is adorable, and thank you for keeping us updated!!!

I want to snuggle your baby. So sweet! What an adorable nose on him! He reminds me how old my toddler is already. *sniff* We totally understand the sporadic posts, and while it’s great to hear from y’all, the blog is nowhere near as important as your awesome family. Good luck, love your lanolin, and get some sleep!

If this is what you look like only 48 hours after giving birth, I don’t want to know what you looked like before you were pregnant…you look gorgeous in that picture! It makes me jealous and hope I will look that good when I have kids!
Your boy is adorable! The picture you posted of him in the first post since he was born…probably the cutest picture EVER! Seriously! That little smirk just melts my heart!
Congratulations to you and your family! Children are such a blessing! I pray that you and your husband are a Godly example to your boy and that you all raise him to be a man of God…which I’m sure you will have no problem doing =] I wish you all the best of luck!
On a side note…I love reading your blog! You have such a fun personality! You kinda remind me of myself =]

Lots of luck with the BF. The advice I wish I would have gotten? It’s not the easiest thing in the world, but it does eventually get easier.
Hang in there and enjoy every moment!

I LOVE the second to last photo of Jer gazing at Will. It looks like someone could be screaming his name and jumping up and down and he would be totally oblivious, enraptured in his son’s new world. How divine!
Love you friend =)

I can’t even imagine how crazy your life is right now, but I would love to read some of the birth story!
