I know that the title of this post seems a little bit like an exaggeration….but rest assured….it is not. I am so excited to introduce you to my newest obsession….the robot that changed my life for the better….the single item that gives me so much peace and provides me the most priceless thing…time with my kids. I’d like to introduce you to the iRobot® Braava jet® m6 robot mop.
I’ll just be perfectly honest. I actually love to clean….like I get strangely passionate about a really deep clean. There is nothing better than scrubbing a dirty fridge or getting a sparkle shine on floors or breaking out the toothbrush for tiny amazing makeovers. The problem is – that it takes A LOT of time and I know I can’t ever pick cleaning over spending time with the kids. It’s just not in me. So the inevitable happens….I clean occasionally when I can squeeze it in and feel guilty when I do and frustrated that it doesn’t happen as often as I like.
That’s why when iRobot® asked me to try out their new Braava jet® m6, I was like….well…I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Since this is our first robot, I had a feeling like the setup would be hard. But surprisingly it was super easy.
On my phone, I downloaded the iRobot® HOME App and linked the Braava jet® m6.
Once the connection is made, the Braava jet® m6 needs to make a ‘map’ of your home. This took a while for us because our first floor is a weird shape and we have lots of rugs and obstacles….also because I opted to mop as it mapped (if you just map, it goes faster but I was impatient about clean floors. Can you blame me?!)
Once the floor plan is mapped out, then you can designate rooms, set schedules and CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
Obviously we named him RoboMop. Because why wouldn’t we?!
Now prepare yourself. It’s gonna get real here in a second.
It’s embarrassing. But real. This is after the first cleaning :/ There goes my reputation as a good housekeeper. Sorry mom.
The mop pads can be changed for washable ones or disposable ones. I immediately ordered more Braava jet™ Hard Floor Cleaning Solution.
So the real beauty in the Braava jet® m6 is that it cleans while I do other more important things…like spelling words with Weston, play doh with Max or just sitting and having a cup of coffee. #selfcarematters
The kids have become obsessed with RoboMop too. It’s so funny to see them watch it.
Literally every time I push CLEAN on my phone, the kids come running and freeze to watch it in action.
We say Ella has jedi-powers over it….really we just pause cleaning for a second 🙂
My very favorite feature is scheduling cleanings for certain rooms while I’m gone. I go volunteer at the school and come home to clean floors.
I cheer on the boys at a baseball games and the hardwoods sparkle when we get home!
Another really fun feature is that it fits under my console and side tables without moving them! Yes, that little orange thing is a nibble of dog food!
So specifically how did it change my life?
Well…first of all it gives me TIME. There are always chores to be done. Always things I can scrub clean. But the floors are a time investment. It takes hours to clean them all each week. And I can allow myself the pleasure of cleaning other areas of the house that are much more immediate when it comes to gratification. That saved time can give me a chance to spend it where it matters the absolute most….with my kids!
The other thing that changed is that I feel more confident in how my house looks. SURE there are always areas to improve, diy and fix. I know I need to paint the boys bathroom and install drywall in the office….I know that there are things to change….but having a bit more confidence in how my house appears…well it’s just simply really nice. And couldn’t everyone use a little more confidence in their home?!
Lastly – changes my mood when it comes to my home. It gives me such peace and freedom and joy knowing one thing is done. I literally click a button on my phone and cross a chore off my list. And I feel no guilt spending time doing other cleaning tasks because I know one large task is done. That mood boost translates into other areas of my life. It is a catalyst for contentment.
