The Pinterest Challenge – Summer Edition

Excited doesn’t come close to explaining how thrilled I am about this post.  

I am here to announce a very very happy day…a day that was born from the desire to ‘play house’ with my girl Sherry.   Let me ‘splain…Sher and I are always talking about how we wish we lived closer so that we could pop over and let the kiddos play on the floor together while we get up to our naturally thick Italian eyebrows in home decor projects.  Except one problem….err…537 problems…also known as miles.  That is the distance between our cities…making ‘playing house’ a little more difficult.  Hence the Pinterest Challenge.   

Never heard of the Pinterest Challenge?  Well, here’s a little video that explains it all….

In a nutshell – each of us gals are picking one project we loved on Pinterest and doing our own spin on it.   No the peeps at Pinterest have no idea we are doing this…SURPRISE!  

Oh and did I mention that two other fabulous girls are participating in this summer edition?!  Um yeah.  Lana – a former True Value blogsquad member (we go way back) and Emily (yup – THE Emily Henderson of HGTV fame) are also whipping up some Pinterest inspired projects to share with you all. 

And in case you were wondering, no – the video isn’t the only time I terribly embarrassed myself in front of Emily. What is it with famous people that make me act all weirdo inbred?!  Seriously.  First I tell Nate Berkus that I am a redneck with a southern accent…and then in a recent email I tell Emily that she should be inspired by a golden banana vase that looks more like a male body part than a fruit?  On the flipside – I still believe she could pull that off…and dingaling-inspired-home-decor-items are always a crowd-pleaser…but seriously katie, you need to get a grip.  specifically on your mouth.  and just keep it shut with both hands and maybe a little upholstery thread. 

Okay – back to the point of this post…AND YOU WONDER WHY THIS BLOG ISN’T FAMOUS…The Pinterest Challenge.

I plan on doing something in this room for over the bed…. 

I ain’t gonna tell you anything else – so you will just have to wait till next week (Tuesday the 2nd!) when we all reveal the final projects!  In the mean time, you can join in on the fun…you have one week to pick a project and do your own spin too!  Or you can go over and tell Emily you like ding-dongs.  How funny would that be if she got like ten comments saying that?!  AWKWARD!

  31. First off, what a great idea! Seriously…actually doing something instead of being a total computer zombie should really be the point of all this great inspiration. Great thinking! : ) Second, you look really pretty in the video. It was my first thought when you popped up, and I wasn’t going to say anything because that’s sort of weird and dorky since I don’t know you, but then I thought if I looked pretty it would be nice to hear. So there you have it…great idea and you look pretty!

  42. Love the video…I was just a bit distracted by your face. It looks amazingly clear and your make up was great. Please do share your secrets and please don’t say you are a soap and water girl and your makeup bag only has three items( like your BFF Mrs.P) LOL. I’m so jealous of the two of you.

    I do love reading you blog! It’s nice to know someone in the universe shares my slightly off-color sense of humor! I have a hopefully-not-annoying question. You’ve shown us the far edge of the awesome red dining chairs a couple of times now, but with no reveal. I’m beginning to wonder if something went horribly wrong in the process : ) Any chance we might see them soon?

Guess I’m feeling the (P)inspiration 🙂 Had to stop by and tell you what a fabulous idea you had. Oh, and thanks for the kick in the pants too. I’m a classic procrastinator, but even more of a competitor so I knew I had to finish something. You’re the best!

I accepted your challenge and finished my own “pinterest project” it was such great motivation!! http://jpaigeart.com/2011/08/01/pinterest-challenge/ I also wanted to tell you how much I loved your son’s barnyard birthday…so much so I created my own for my little boy who just turned one in July, it was great fun had by all!!! Thanks for the inspiration. Oh, and ya’lls video had me cracking up haha 🙂
