Last year I began a little tradition. I started by writing down some questions and decided that I would ask these same questions each year to the boys. Since Will is the only one that really answers questions right now (I mean, Weston would try but I’m pretty sure that he would answer all the questions with the same statement….monster trucks….enter engine noises here), this post has the interview questions and answers we have done last year and just this past week.
The funny thing is….I didn’t tell him last year’s answers. I like that he was consistent on the playing football thing when he grows up and that he has no idea what Daddy does…I mean…Daddy does do those things but I am pretty sure nobody pays Jeremy to poop. Also…hey Will….we live in Georgia 🙂 And he really REALLY wants to sell soda and cookies. He tells me every time he sees soda cans or cookies….and he wants to invent a thing that shoots soda and cookies directly to people’s house. I think if he could figure that one out, he might be a billionaire. Just remember William….rich men take care of their mama. Just saying…

That’s so fun! We have a three year question-a-day journal with our son (age 4). Every day has a question, and on that date you ask the same question every year for three years (so the July 9, 2015, 2016, and 2017 question will be the same, but each day’s question is different). I’m excited to see how his answers change when we get to the questions a second time.

I love this idea! My MIL video taped her interviews with her children and they are comedy gold. I have a tape of my “serious and professional” husband suddenly belting out ‘Tomorrow’ from ‘Annie’ at 11 years old. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to do the same thing with our future children.

I did this with my preschool class of 4 and 5 year olds a few times a year when I was teaching. I can’t wait to do this with my daughter and hopefully future siblings!

That’s so cute! What a great idea. I bought one of those Q&A a day books that cover three years for the same kind of reason. You ask your kid the question for whatever day it is, fill it in and then next year they get the same question when you come back around to that page. Over the course of three years you can watch them change (or stay the same). Fun 🙂

Hahaha – Daddy’s occupations are hilarious.

What an awesome idea! I’m totally stealing it. My oldest is five too, so this is a good time to start. Thank you!

So sweet! I love that he has no idea what Daddy does.
I did the same thing with my daughter when she turned 3 this year and planned to continue each year – fingers crossed I can remember it!
Your questions are so much better though I may need to steal some of them! 😉
I asked my daughter who her best friend was … it was Daddy. Funny though, I’m the only one she wants to cuddle with at night! haha

This is such a cute idea! My kids are 7 and almost 5 and I wish I would have done this with them. P.S. I was reading this at work and busted out laughing at the poop comment. Gotta love little boys 🙂
Katie says
This is seriously hysterical! I love this idea but the answers are the absolute best part. Oh my goodness. Tears I am laughing so hard 🙂

Oh my goodness, I about died laughing when I read what Daddy’s job is according to Will!!! Hilarious! This is a great tradition. How did you come up with your list of questions? Did they just come to you or did you find inspiration from somewhere?
liz @ btb says
Ha!! I think I’d be a millionaire’s wife if men were paid to poop!

So cute! We started something similar when my first daughter turned two (she was an early talker!), but I video taped the interview every year for her birthday. I love looking back at the little video and hearing her sweet voice and the way she pronounced words!
Meg says
So cute! We did an interview about Daddy for Father’s Day, and it was so funny I think I might make it a yearly tradition. Nobody knows what Daddys do for a living, but I bet they all wish they could get paid to poop. Will is too funny.

That is hilarious! 😀

Oh. My. Goodness. Literally crying I am laughing so hard to the answer of Jeremy’s job…could be the pregnancy hormones, but pretty sure that answer is just hilarious!!! So funny to hear our kids’ perspective on life!!!

This is the best idea ever, in the history of ever.

I love that you do this, and thank you for sharing. Once he is. Teenager he may not appreciate your sharing it, but thanks for as long as you can. It will be interesting to have these when he graduates and is deciding what he wants to do.

poor Brantley 🙁 what did he do wrong?
Katie says
Haha! I think this past year we have spent so much time with Brantley that Will thinks of him more as a brother than a buddy now 🙂
