Seriously though. I got out my scraps of felt and made Will a Christmas tree that he can decorate every day. He loves it. You totally need this craft. Sometimes he stacks all the ornaments in one pile…sometimes he puts the skirt on…sometimes he puts on the star and that’s it. That’s the joy in this activity.
Also, we set up our tree and it’s officially decorated. Jer did the setting up…
Will did the random running out of the photo…he thinks it’s funny…
Weston did the sleeping (oh his hair has fallen out so I am so glad I snapped this shot of his newborn hair!)…
And I did the fawning. I fawn all over this kid. It must be the hormones. It must be the sleep deprivation. It must be the flaky skin on his hands. I just didn’t think I was that kinda girl…the kind that is totally boy crazy. I am. complete with hair flip.

I can;t wait to see the tree all done up. Did you use your guest bedroom hoops as ornaments? I saw your little instgram shot and got way too overly excited!

I completely related to your post when you described how it was bonding with Will, the slow process of it. It is exactly how I experienced it with my first son (in 2001!). But with my second child, my second son two years later… totally obsessed and devoted and infatuated from the first minute. And it was so wonderful. And I am so glad you are experiencing it like that with Weston.

You have me convinced. I DO need this craft! There are four kids under 7 years old around this house that like re-arranging things.
And it sounds like everyone was doing a great job on putting the tree up, and other important things. 🙂

I made a felt tree years ago for my oldest daughter and it’s been handed down from kid to kid. We even have a gingerbread person and a snowman. They’re great quiet activities for dr’s offices or church when there is no nursery, etc.
Oooh – I need a snowman now! Maybe I’ll make an entire quiet book. That would be great 🙂

Yep, I definitely wanted to do a felt tree this year for my son. Alas, I didn’t even get Christmas cards out. Epic mommy fail. Love it though!
I’m new here and catching up on your old posts. I have a 3 year old daughter and 5 month son. I always wanted a daughter and was sort of indifferent about whether I ever had a son…until I had him. Since laying eyes on him I have been boy crazy beyond belief. Now I just can’t imagine if I’d never had a little boy to give me those special just-for-mama grins and squeals 🙂 Loving your blog!
