WE’RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!
Many of you know that we are big ole fat Steeler’s fans. And I just want to say that I am SUPER proud to be part of Steeler Nation.
Last time we were at a game at Heinz Field I was about 5 months pregnant…so I am pretty sure that little Will’s ears and heart were developed enough to take in the spirit of what it means to be a Steeler fan.
And yes, he owns 6 Steeler Onesies, three Steeler bibs, and his own football that screams “HERE WE GO STEELERS! HERE WE GO!”
And obviously his own terrible towel.
I can’t wait to get one with the SEVENTH Super Bowl logo on it!
Are you guys Steelers fans? Or are you gonna be cheering for the coughloserscough other team this year? Anyone tuning in just for the commercials? Or just show up to the game day celebration for the food? Anyone have money on the game? Because I am willing to bet that the Black & Gold take it this year….again….
psst…for more info on how the Bower’s heart the Steelers, here’s a old post!
Erin says
I got all excited when I saw the title of your post in the feed because I was just thinking the same thing … WE’RE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL. But, as it turns out, my “we” is different from your “we.” The Steelers looked good today but the Pack is on a roll. It’s gonna be an epic game! (Go Packers!!!!!!!!)
Carrie says
no way! GO PACK!!! it will surely be a good game though!
AtOneWithHim says
im still in the beginning of the 4th quarter, you turd! we always dvr it. so we breeze through the commercials. at least the steelers won! so excited. but you’re still a turd.
Jaimie says
Haha we’re in Wisconsin, so GO PACK!
Ashley says
I’m so happy to read that other women are excited about sports 🙂 Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one around here! Congrats on your team winning – unfortunately, my husband is a cheesehead! May the best team win!
Lindsey says
Our son was born a few days after the superbowl in ’09. His name is Ben. Enough said.
Victoria says
I LOVE the Steelers! I’m always cheering for them. I wore my Steelers shirt all day even though I didn’t have much time to watch the game…even though I kept up with the score. I’m sooooooo excited!!!!!
Robin says
Not a Steelers or Packers fan, BUT I do live in Arlington, TX (aka home of Jerry World!) If you and the boyfriend score superbowl tickets, you can crash at our house! In exchange, you can give me some design advice! 😉
Good luck to your Steelers!
Carol Barry says
My husband and I were at the game last night – can’t talk because of all the noise we made! Love the Steelers! Driving back home to South Carolina today but will be singing “Pittsburgh’s goin’ to the Super Bowl” the whole way!!
Caitlin says
I’m a senior at Pitt, so I’ll be rooting for the STEELERS!
Rebecca says
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh. There is no city that loves their team more than ‘da Burgh. GO STEELERS!!
Julie says
UGH – sorry, I think you’re fabulous, but I’d cheer for almost ANYONE playing AGAINST the Steelers!!!! GO PACKERS!!!
Kelly says
I bleed black and gold 🙂 GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!!
Lindsay says
I’ve lived in western PA for the past 8 years, Pittsburgh for the past 4, and married into a live, breath, eat Steelers family… as I’ve been taught to pronounce it, GO STILLERS! 😉
Michelle M says
My husband’s side of the family converted me into a football fan and by default, a Steelers fan, 8 years ago. We are also cuh-razy about it. Everyone wears their Steelers gear (even our 2 year old twin girls, gotta’ start ’em young). We have a family get together every game…thank you NFL Sunday Ticket! We have big dreams of going to a game at Heinz one day. My husband has been to a few games they played against Denver. We’re in Wyoming, so it’s a much easier trip than Pittsburgh.
Erin says
Yeah STILLERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brooke M. says
I am contemplating taking my name off of this post.
I am a Redskin fan. Enough Said. It, unfortunately is in my blood too, actually just in my bloodline, but if I would dare pull for any other team, well I would be disowned. Needless to say, our family conversations do not discuss football to often. Frankly, because there is nothing to discuss 🙂
I am still hoping that one day before I die, (I am in my 20’s) that they would just possibly, just make it to the superbowl. They don’t have to win, they just need to make it there 🙂 BUT until that day happens, I will be more than happy to adopt your team and cheer on the Steelers with you!!
Hannah says
As a native Minnesotan and now cheesehead my love should stay within the division or at least for my team, but I am a diehard Steelers fan since 4th grade. So sorry Packs gotta go with STEELERS!!!
Jess says
I’m a born and bred Pittsburgh girl. I think the answer is clear. 😛
Amanda @ Heart Tree Home says
WOW. How on earth did you get tickets? I thought my husband was going to have a heart attack last night when the Jets started making a comeback… We are jealous… Have so much fun!
Kristie says
So fun to be in Pittsburgh right now. We were out yesterday morning and there wasn’t a person in any store we visited that wasn’t sporting their Black and Gold! Way to go Steelers! We’re ready to make it seven!
rebecca says
GO STEELERS!!! born & raised western PA, as a kid, I assumed EVERYONE was a Stillers fan. so excited… i’m just glad that my voice and my heart survived screaming at the tv last night. here we go…..
Carla says
HERE WE GO STEELERS!!
Cannot wait for this game! Our little girls steelers wardrobe is just as extensive as Will’s! My hubbys family has season tickets so we have a Steelers weekend once a year (was 8 months preggo for the Jets game and couldn’t go – boo!) and we both went to school in the ‘burgh (Pitt & Duquesne). We are huge fans and praying for a 7th ring!! Are you going to have a SB party??
Haha do you listen to the Wiz khalifa song before the game too?!
GO STEELERS!!!
Erin E says
The Superbowl is in the bag! Go Steelers!!
Laura W. says
I loved this post! I just recently started reading your blog and had no idea you were a die-hard Steelers fan like myself! Being from a very small town about 2 hours south of Pittsburgh – the Steelers have always been and will always be my team … no matter what city I live in! Can’t wait for the Super Bowl…Go Steelers!
Keeley says
Congrats to your team, I think they’ll win… again.
We’re Eagles fans, so we root for the other PA team. Of course, the Eagles haven’t ever won a Superbowl. My hubby and I have a theory that there are few Eagles fans who don’t have roots in the Philadelphia area. We joke about the fact that we know so many Steelers fans who haven’t even ever been to PA. There definitely is a Steeler Nation out there. We prefer (Phillies) baseball to football any day.
Enjoy the Super Bowl. I’ll be enjoying a girls weekend in the Poconos with a group of friends. Holla.
Lindsay says
I’m from Pittsburgh, born to bleed black and gold. I married a Browns fan (I know it’s a sin) and he cheers for any team that’s up against the Steelers. It makes our victories so much sweeter. Knockin’ on Seven’s Door! Here we go!
Haley says
Here we go Steelers!
Amy says
recently moved from Chicago to Pittsburgh & the steelers fans are waaaay too overwhelming for me!!! i was the only person out shopping yesterday not wearing black & gold!!! i’ll be watching the game, just for the commercials 🙂
Lynn says
Well, YESTERDAY I was a psuedo-Steelers fan…since I live in Boston and root for the Patriots. ANYONE playing the Jets, gets my backing. HOWEVER, now that its a new game, Im for the Packers. Sorry. 🙂 But youre team was playing with a TON of speed, force, and heart yesterday, so I think it will be an excellent matchup!
Funyn how when ‘your’ team is out, you have to realign yourself with someone else…sometimes many times for the rest of the season! HA! 🙂
Natalie says
STEELERS ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!
Kristina says
I am in Indy and a Colts fan. Le sigh.
Ali says
I was raised wearing black and gold. My boys have extensive Steeler wardrobes, said football and of course Toddler Terrible Towels. Just praying that my newest boy will still fit in his Steeler coveralls in 2 weeks (it’s going to be close). Gonna find some Iron City beer for our party. Nothing like Steeler fans in the south!
D says
As a Ravens fan I just have to say 🙁 🙁 🙁
Jenna says
I’m a youth leader at a church just north of Pittsburgh and instead of having youth group last night, we had a huge Steelers party – game projected 20′ on the wall, went through 15 pizzas and our halftime entertainment was a game that involved shooting air soft pellets at Jets logos kind of party. Needless to say, it was awesome! Sadly, our senior pastor is a life-long Packers fan. Pray for our church? 🙂
Erica says
How fun for you guys! We live in Dallas…have fun at Jerry World, that stadium is massive!!!
Alicia says
UGH! As a Minnesota native, I’ve been conditioned to cheer for the MN Vikings or whichever team is playing the Packers. Consider me a Steelers fan for the Super Bowl!!
Emily (The Culinary Couple) says
I got my Super Bowl match-up wish! We live about 1 1/2 hours from Pittsburgh, and my husband is a huge Steelers fan. Also, one of my high school friends (John Kuhn) plays for the Packers. So I think I’ll be rooting for both teams, which will force my husband to cheer extra louder for the black and gold. Can’t wait for Super Bowl Sunday!
Kim at Yellow Brick Home says
black and yellow black and yellow black and yellow!
That was our cheer last night. There are no better fans than Pittsburgh fans. While we love the Steelers, my family grew up on the ice. It’s funny that home blogs don’t share their love as sports that much, but I did mention it here last year (on the most romantic Valentine’s Day ever – hah!)
http://www.yellowbrickhome.com/2010/02/12/a-lovely-weekend/
whoot!
Kaye says
I just can’t get behind a team that celebrates a man (Roethlisberger) that has been charged with rape THREE times. Same reason I despise the Eagles, Vick never should have seen the light of day and I can’t believe people root for him.
Amy Wolff says
I was born and still live in the “burgh”….
Go Steelers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
KAJ says
So are you *actually* going to the Super Bowl? Because we live about 20 miles from the Stadium! But I’m kind of a Cowboys fan (Texas transplant) and really a Broncos fan (Denver native).
sarah says
Please please please PLEASE beat the Packers. I don’t care about the Steelers, but Green Bay just beat my Chicago Bears, and I’d appreciate it if you crushed them as payback.
Heather @ REOlisticRenovation says
How fun for you guys! 🙂 Adorable about all the baby stuff…especially the chanting football love that haha. Ummm I am a Raiders fan so I like NEVER get to see my team in the Super Bowl so I will just be tuning in for all the Sunday fun that surrounds the Super Bowl not so into the game this year only it is the big game so I will be watching! Congratulations on your team!
Paula says
Sorry but the PACK is on attack and green and gold is where it’s at!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love your blog by the way!!
Morgan Mayes says
🙂 How fun! You’ll be in my neighborhood then, since we live 30 minutes from Cowboy’s Stadium. If y’all get bored, let me know and we can do a playdate at the zoo (the Fort Worth Zoo is pretty much amazing).
Crystal says
I am from Wisconsin where we bleed Green and Gold!! GO PACK GO!!
Justine says
I mainly watch the Superbowl for the commercials (although they really haven’t been great lately). This year I’ll be cheering for the Steelers since Green Bay just took Chicago’s place in the Superbowl. It was a painful game to watch being a Bears fan, so it would be great for the Steelers to annihilate the Packers.
Delta says
Oh dear. I see trouble ahead! I am from Wisconsin and am a TOTAL Packer fan – sorry for you! ;o) We also live in Arlington – a few miles from the stadium – so… our home team is coming to our home! Waa Hoo… now to bankroll those tickets… hum… Gotta get going on that. Go Pack Go! (of course, may the best team win – Packers – and no hard feelings or anything…)
Katie says
We wish we were actually GOING to the superbowl…how dreamy! But I think I meant we’re going as in my team is going…I just like to include myself in the Steelers organization!
xo – kb
Kate says
I grew up a Bears fan, and married a die-hard Steelers fan. While I’m sad that the Bears won’t be playing, I’m thankful that the game probably won’t throw us into marriage counseling. (The first year’s supposed to be hard, yes, but that would just be unfair.)
Luckily, I was raised to root for whoever’s playing the Packers just as much as I root for the Bears…so Here We Go!
Katie says
I wish. But no. Just kinda like to believe I’m Palumalu’s right hand gal 🙂
xo – kb
Katie says
Hi Kaye,
I know that everyone has their own opinions…but I would challenge you to consider some other aspects. I don’t like the fact that Big Ben isn’t above reproach but he actually never has been charged with any crimes. And I wasn’t personally there but I know that Roethlisberger could be in the wrong or it could be some gals trying to get some of his cash. Since there was no payoff and no filed charges, it makes me believe that those girls were up to no good. As for Vick…what he did was wrong. Dead wrong. I don’t make any excuses for him. But I do want to say that I believe that he has a changed heart…thanks in part to God and the guidance of Tony Dungy….and I am glad that we live in a nation that allows for redemption…heaven knows I need it too.
xo – kb
Katie says
YAY!
xo – kb
Katie says
This was confusing huh? I didn’t mean “we” were going as in the Bower’s….I meant it as our team….whooops!
xo – kb
Katie says
NICE!
xo – kb
Katie says
just wait Amy…it’ll be you soon…and I want a photo of you shopping with the black & gold when it happens 🙂
xo – kb
Katie says
We are definitely going to be partying…
since it is just one day after my birthday, my birthday wish is that they…well, can’t tell you…but I’m sure you already know 🙂
xo – kb
Katie says
I wish we had tickets! Maybe I’lll call my uncle to see if he can score me a couple 🙂 that was confusing wasn’t it…I meant our team was going to the superbowl…I just include myself in that 🙂
xo – kb
Katie says
yay! glad to have you adopted into the Steeler Nation Brooke!
xo – kb
Katie says
LUCKY!

Leslie says
Vick also paid big bucks for what he did & spent his time in a federal prison.
I’m a Bengals fan (what?!), but my parents were born & raised in Pittsburgh. My grandparents held Steelers season tickets for eons, then my aunt & uncle inherited them (the original seats from the old stadium actually sit in my uncle’s basement), and now my cousins all use them. I’m up in the air about who to root for.
🙂
Savina says
Katie-
Love your blog and your family is so cute. Fun fact: I actually went to HS with “Big Ben” but my hubby is a Browns fan so I’m gonna have to go with the Packers this year. For the sake of my marriage and all 😉
April says
Since Will has such a great Steelers wardrobe the only thing he needs is a Steelers diaper! I can’t link on my phone but I know there are some WHAMS on Hyena cart that make them! I think Upsiesdiapers makes some…
Katy says
Hey Katie. Watch out for tolls in our fair city of Dallas. We have a lot of them.

Meredith says
Sorry Katie, but I have to say it….
Go PACK Go! 😀
Marcie says
Born, bred and lifetime Wisconsinite here and I respectfully have to say that the green and gold will prevail! I’d bet my bratwurst and cheese curds on it!
Kate @ biggirllittlegirl.com says
Katie – I’m a fellow member of Steelers nation! My parents still live in Pittsburgh and my dad promises to send my daughter a pink Steelers onesie to wear while cheering them on during the Super Bowl… she’s alread *quite* taken with our Terrible Towel 🙂
Jennelle says
I love me some STILLERS!!! Here we go… Steelers. Here we go. PITTSBURGH’S GOIN’ TO THE SUPER BOWL. Here we go.
Victoria Todd says
Bowers in Dallas!?! BOWERS IN THE MAIN CITY THAT DEFINES MY SUBURB COMMUNITY?!?! you guys will love the dfdub! 🙂

Becky says
GO PACK GO!!
Kelly says
I like you even more now that I know you’re a fan of our Black and Gold! We live about 10 minutes from Heinz Field, so it would be fun to meet up for a jersey-wearing playdate when you’re in town. (Our boys are just a few months apart.)
Elizabeth says
I am giddy to leave a comment about our Superbowl rivalry…(giddy for the Packers! that is)… and pleasantly surprised to see the Packer’s are representing! GO PACK GO!!
BTW, can’t wait to see the rest of your new house…regardless…
Susanna says
Hooray! I’m thrilled that you are a Steeler’s fan! My family is full of die-hard Steeler fanatics–my brother-in-law even had a Steelers-themed wedding :o) We’re looking forward to the big game!
Ashley @ sunnysideshlee.com says
I’m a Bears fan!!!!! And although we’re still licking our wounds from yesterday’s loss, I still want the Steelers to killll the Packers!!! Hate the Packers! (Although I’m iffy on the Steelers cuz I’m not a Roethlisberger fan bc of his personal life). So Go Steelers Go! Knock the Pack back to Wisconsin!
Tara says
I am a huge Steelers fan- my entire family is. The hubs and I will be hosting the Super Bowl Party this year. We hosted the last time we made it to the Super Bowl and the Steelers won so we figured we’d better do it again! Plus- it’s a huge party! Here we go Steelers!!!!
Mallory says
Oh, I really thought we could be friends, but now I’m not so sure. I hate the Steelers!
Jessie says
That’s a shame. I really enjoyed reading your blog, too. Oh well :p
Go Pack!!!
Katie says
Your comment cracked me up Victoria…
and yes, I may have confused Dallasonians with my reference to going to the Super Bowl. We technically are NOT going to the superbowl…just my team that I feel is part of my family 🙂
xo – kb
Stef says
Sorry, I’m a Browns fan so it’s against my religion to root for the Steelers! 😉 I will be cheering for the Packers all the way! No hate though. 🙂
Ashley says
HUGE, CRAZY Steelers fan here! I was thrilled when the won last night! I love them!
Martha says
Ditto… : (
Karen @Sugarspicelivin says
Hehe. My Husband and I exchanged phone numbers for the first time when the Steelers went to the Super Bowl in 2006- and went on our first date shortly after they won. We got married the year they won again in 2009…. if they win in 2011, we might need to start trying for a baby….
Alima says
I LOVE your blog, but you lose a few points for being a steelers fan!
PACK ATTACK!!!!!!!!! 🙂
Amy says
We’re on the Stairway to Seven!! My husband scored a ticket yesterday morning- he was so pumped he didn’t notice the cold. I loved it when Ryan threw off his headset in disgust! 🙂
We live on Pittsburgh’s North Side- a brisk walk from the stadium- so if “yinz” are ever in town for a game, you can crash at our place. Free parking! Ok, sorry, I realize that’s pretty weird/stalker-ish because we’re absolute strangers.. I’m just still so excited that we won last night, and that you’re such a huge fan!
Oh- and your new house is devastatingly BEAUTIFUL! I will pray for a swift conclusion to your current housing situation so your family can settle in to your new place with no worries.
Priscila says
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pittsburgh’s going to the SUPER BOWL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sarah says
HERE WE GO, STEELERS, HERE WE GO!!!! I have been reading your blog since the summer and was thrilled when I found out you were a Steeler fan! Pittsburgh’s a great place to be right now!
Katie G. says
Go Pack Go!!!
Emily says
LOL – this made me laugh! During the games, I cheer on “my boyfriend” aka Troy Polamalu to the confusion on my fellow game watchers. You see, they know my real-life fiance who will be sitting right next to me when I holler at the TV, “Where was my boyfriend on that play?!”
SOOO excited for the Super Bowl! It’s the day before mine and Jerry’s 8 year dating anniversary, 1 year engagement anniversary and about a week before his 28th birthday and Valentine’s Day. We have loads of reasons to celebrate – it’s why I love February! 🙂
LET’S GO STEELERS!
-Emily
PS I posted about my excitement, too!

Wehaf says
I used to be a Steelers fan but I won’t cheer for a rapist. So go Packers!
Alyssa says
First of all, I didn’t realize that I’m joined by so many other Wisconsinites that read your blog!!! Small world:) Second, the pack is definatly going to prevail over your beloved steelers, KB. Sorry! Third, please make sure you post about how sad you are the Monday after the bowl, I’ll love reading that!! And finally, Im so happy to have a fun post that we can all rant on and on about our favorite and least-fav teams:) Lol…GO PACK!!!!
Alyssa says
I thought my moms hubby was the only Jaimie with his name spelled that way, I’m going to happily let him know there is someone else out there AND you also live in WI!! Crazy:)
Katie says
hilarious 🙂
xo – kb
Kate says
Since I’m a transplant to Wisconsin (from Michigan two years ago), I have to say GO PACK GO!
Wehaf says
There were several corroborating witnesses at the most recent incident; the only reason Ben wasn’t charged (and this is widely known and accepted) is that the local police fouled up the investigation. He is a rapist, and in Pittsburgh, is a known pig and jagoff – people leave bars when he comes in, especially women, because he is such a terrible person. I’m disgusted that you so easily dismiss the accusations against him.
Carmen says
Love John Kuhn! He is a fan favorite for sure. I love when the whole stadium is calling for him on third downs!
Carmen says
Born and raised Wisconsinite, so GO PACK GO! I should let you know, that nobody that lives in WI actually calls themself a cheesehead and the majority of people hate those foam hat atrocities that just won’t die for some reason. I think this is going to be an epic match up! Both these teams have such huge national followings, I think that this Superbowl will definately be huge.
Roeshel says
I’ve been following for how long and didn’t know this little fact about you. Or maybe I did and forgot. But had to take a moment to comment for our hometown team – GO STEELERS! 🙂
Dana says
Yeah, Katie!!! I totally forgot that you are a Steelers fan!! I’m from the ‘Burgh, so black and gold blood runs through my veins (gross, but true). I’m so pumped that you, Jeremy and Will will be holding it down for Steeler Nation in the South. HERE WE GO!!!
Sara @ Russet Street Reno says
The Packers are a great team and deserve to be in the Superbowl. I will be rooting for the Pack, ‘America’s Team!’
GO PACK GO!
Alison says
HERE WE GO STEELERS HERE WE GO!!!! YEAH BLACK AND GOLD! So happy to see that yinz guys are Stillers fans! I’m originally from NJ and a former Jets fan. Living in Pittsburgh makes you see the light! Where else to you get local coverage an hour and a half before the game starts and people wearing their jerseys to church 🙂 I don’t condone what Ben did and he will and has been answering for his actions. I’ve seen him out and he truly seems like a changed man. Only God knows what is in his heart and we all need forgiveness at some point in our lives. Let GOD be the judge.
Sarah@StyleandCentsability says
GO STEEL- I did the running man for approximately 10 straight minutes at the end of the game!!! (in my house mind you- I live in NY and didn’t want to get whacked!
Heather says
Sorry Katie. We bleed black and silver at our house. I live with four rabid (are there any other kind?) Raiders fans.
I’ll still read your blog though 🙂
Erica says
I am so excited to learn that you are a Steelers fan too!!! Both of my parents grew up near Pittsburgh, and my dad grew up watching Steelers games on TV back in the day when their tv only had two channels, lol. My sisters and I have grown up as Steelers fans by default. I grew up in Cincinnati, though, so we got a lot of flack for being Steelers fans in a town of Bengals fans, but we knew better. 🙂
Here we go!
Amy L. says
LET’S GO STILLERS!!! I am a Pittsburgh native living in Cleveland- my husband is a Browns fan. I will be driving in to Pittsburgh to watch them clinch #7 with my family and will be cheering along with you!
Megan says
I am a huge Steeler fan myself! My dad was born and raised in Pittsburgh so from birth I have loved the black & gold! We are going to dominate!! 🙂
Teri says
Are you here yet? You are close to some of the best shopping, including the Crate and Barrel Outlet and much more within 20 minutes of the big game. If you have time to shop let me know and I will send you a great top ten list! Welcome to Texas…
Katie says
heeehee…like I said before, we aren’t ACTUALLY going to the superbowl…I use the term ‘we’ loosely 🙂
xo – kb
Amy says
I just had to post this morning! I’m from Packerland & I am PROUD today!!!!! 2nd Superbowl win in my lifetime!!!!! The Pack is Back! (even w/out Brett Farve – hah). Signed, Happy in Wisconsin! (But Katie- the Steelers did very well, almost too well for my nerves, so don’t feel too bad) -Amy
Katie says
