Dear Summer,
We had a lot of fun this year. There were good times and bad times…mostly good though. But honestly, I am tired of your hotheadedness. And the fact that you always want me in a bathing suit…you know how we don’t get along. So it’s time for something new. Something like Fall. He gives me chills you know. Let’s not call it a break up. Let’s just call it a break. And don’t take it personally…it’s not you…it’s me. Promise we’ll still be friends.

p.s. here are some photos of our best memories together. I’ll cherish them forever and whenever I look at them, I’ll think of you.
oh, man. will is just as cute as he could be.
aaand, he’s always looking at the camera. do you have to take 8,000 shots just to get that good one? or do you think he’s just trained b/c you’ve had a camera in his face since he was born? or he’s not actually looking at the camera, but rather mom, who is behind it?
either way- greeeat shots! 🙂
i dont comment often, but i love your blog.
I almost don’t want to ask about the cow suit. I like to imagine that that’s how you just stroll around town sometimes. A little grocery shopping, a little IKEA…all in cow suit. Excellent!
In addition to that, and I’m sure you already know, Will is just one of the most beautiful/handsome/adorable babies I have ever seen. You are so blessed and you seem to be so thankful for it. How refreshing!
The picture of Will pouting with his lip out is my favorite! My little Nora does that sometimes when she cries and my Hubby and I can’t help but laugh. So cute!
hey, katie! your little man is SUPER cute. my guy is a about 8 months older than will, so everytime i see pics of will i feel wistful and want to reach through the computer screen and squeeze him. sigh. . . .
also, we got free chick-fil-a that day, too.
thanks for this fun post.
You have the CUTEST little boy I have ever seen. No lie. I’m a single 25 year old girl and that picture of him getting ready to cry makes me want one asap! Congratulations on such a wonderful summer.
Also, go STEELERS!
Beautiful. Just beautiful.
Dear Will,
Your cuteness is making my uterus hurt. In the least creepy way possible.
XO,
C
PS – Tell your mom I loved the summer photos!
I love all these photos! I really love the silhouette photos – what settings do you put your camera on to get those shots?!?
Will’s little pouty face is just so stinkin cute.
PS: did you see the wooden teething toys on Pioneer Woman? They have an owl that I think you would love.

Thank you for showing us the cow pajamas! And thank you for wearing matching outfits! I made my daughter and me matching tie die shirts (well, her’s is a onesie but whatever) and everyone laughed at me when we wore them! Next time I’m just going to say if Katie Bower and Will Bower can wear matching cow print, Wendy and I can wear matching tie dye! haha
How much does Will weigh now? He don’t look like he was a big baby! He’s handsome!
Katie-
I am with you 100%, I am totally over summer this year. Not that I dont’ *LOVE* summer, but I’ve been pregnant throughout it and with no air conditioning. I’m really not a whiner, but I just thought the humidity would break by now and I made the fatal error of telling myself “you just have to make it through August and it’ll go away”. Well, tomorrow is October 1st and my ankles haven’t been seen in months.
So here’s to fall – beautiful crisp mornings and sleeping with the windows open and an extra blanket on the bed!
GIRLFRIEND!!!! You rock that camera. God has blessed you with an amazing gift no school could teach! I kept looking at them and wondering why mine never look that good ( n I’m old … Have grandkids Will’s age 😛 so lots of pictures in them thar years) and then realized the answer … It’s Him!
God bless you n yers! <3
Katie, your pictures are amazing! I’m sure it helps that you have such photogenic subjects. :o) Will is absolutely adorable.
I have the same question as SarahKL as well…can you share how you get those silhouette pictures?
Oh n I know u Photoshop, but I still wouldn’t get the angles n all that u do.
Agreed, I’m ready for Fall!
Did you dress as cows for free chick-fil-a??
Beautiful pics and memories of your summer. I love that you dressed up as cows to score some free CFA! My fave!
Why is with all of those GORG.EOUS. pics to look at, my favorite one is of Will and “The Lip”? :0) Way to go, Mama!
Please tell me y’all are dressed as cows for CFA Cow Appreciation Day? When my husband and I were dating, and he agreed to publicly dress up as cow so we could get free chicken sandwiches, I totally knew he was the one.
Also, I saw two items at a Pittsburgh farmer’s market that reminded me of you. One – a shirt proclaiming that “I’m a Redneck Steeler’s Fan.” Two – bacon flavored dark chocolate.
I’m totally over summer this year too. I don’t know what’s come over me! Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures with us!
Yup Caitlin, we went to get our free Chickfila food…and loved being cows for the day.

p.s. love that redneck shirt 🙂
You got it Dana…we’ll do anything for free food 🙂

These photos are all so fun! The one in front of the fan is so funny! What a great summer!
Hi Kim,
You just gotta shoot in manual mode. Set your camera’s ISO, shutter speed and f-stop according to the sky behind your subjects. Then DON’T change your settings. Now just make sure you are focused on the subjects so that they are clear when you hit that trigger button.
That’s it…easy peasy!

Hi Audrey,
He’s pretty big…not as big as he once was but still above average for his age. At his last appointment he weighed in at 17lbs and was 27 inches long. That meant that he was in the upper 80th percentile for length and upper 50th percentile for weight. Sadly it looks like he is getting my large cranium…he was in the 97th percentile for head circumference 🙂

Hi Sarah,
First, it’s important to shoot in manual mode. Set your camera’s ISO, shutter speed and f-stop according to the sky behind your subjects. Then DON’T change your settings. Now just make sure you are focused on the subjects so that they are clear when you hit that trigger button.
Here’s my best tip: take these photos when the sun is setting.

Looks like such a wonderful couple months – those of us in the Pacific NW who didn’t hardly have summer are certainly jealous 🙂
What type of camera do you use? Your pictures look amazing!
Looks like a fun summer!
Did you use a backdrop for the black and white photo of Will’s profile? Or is it a wall?
wow Katie, I don’t know you at all but what a G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S little fella you have there. wowsers I just want to eat him up! (I guess all your similar sentiments on here are more than understandable!)
thanks for sharing such precious family memories, in Australia we are just coming into spring (slowly) so I’m loving all that we have to look forward to!
looking forward to the photos next summer – Will will be up and about and oh how your life will continue to be transformed by him! continue to enjoy him and marvel in the wonder that is God’s creation!
No backdrop Elyse just a wall 🙂

Hi K,
You can read all about my camera on this post.
Thanks for the compliment!

THANKS! I will definitely try this! 🙂
Amazing photos. And in case I haven’t said it before, that is one gorgeous kid you’ve got there! I’m looking forward to multiplying Bowers!
You and will make pretty cute cows. We loved dressing up our little guy on that day too! It definitely made me feel like a camp counselor all over again.
Love your pics! Especially the sunset one on the fourth.
Hahaha…that was my guess too. Here in the North we Yanks dont have Chik-Fil-A. On a getaway trip a few years ago, hubby and I stopped in to one and he fell in love with the food. We found out that that particular day if we dressed up as cows we’d eat free. Needless to say, we were not prepared for such an awesome deal so we paid to eat that night. But it was great seeing people of all ages dressed in their bovine gear:)
