Congrats to Meredith! The winner of the $250 Target Gift Card! You should have an email in your inbox right now girl!
Disclaimer – This is a sponsored post and giveaway brought to you by Sugru. All opinions are 100% my own.
Surgu-ing all the things. That is what this post is about. Also, there is a Target giveaway which I am sure you are already excited about.
So have you heard of Sugru yet? It’s this futuristic moldable glue….think play dough….but you can stick it to things….and then overnight, it turns into this strong flexible rubber. Like the love child of silly putty and super glue.
I wasn’t really a huge fan until I realized that I could use it on the fridge shelves I was telling you about. The middle shelf had broken on both sides…
Enter Sugru.
I simply removed the shelf, cleaned the spilled soy sauce out of the bottom and removed the random french fry and opened a mini pack of white Sugru.
They come in these little foil pouches and you have to cut them open.
Roll it up in a ball and work it with your fingers till it becomes soft and pliable…
Then shove it in the cracks! The next day, you can load up that shelf again!
It takes about 24 hours to harden and then BOOM….Katie feels like a champion that deserves that decaf Black-n-white with extra chocolate syrup and whipped topping from Starbucks.
After the shelves, I started getting a little Sugru crazy. I mean….like REALLY excited about the endless possibilities. Like somebody-needs-to-medicate-Katie kinda excited. I looked like this every time I thought of a new thing that needed Sugru….
I love the fact that this stuff is not just for fixing…it’s also for getting crafty! I decided that I would make some childproof BIG silverware for Weston. He wants to have silverware like Jeremy and Will and me….but those slippery little fingers of his have a hard time holding on!
I put some Sugru on some inexpensive forks and spoons and now they are full size but easier for him to handle.
It’s a super useful tool….kinda like a 3D glue…but the result is making things safer and easier and fixed and more creative. And it’s available nationwide at Target stores! (click here to find your nearest store)
I went onto their website after the crazy set in and found tons of project ideas….I totally want to make my own stamps!….and I put together some of my favorite Sugru tutorials. The nice folks at Sugru also want to get your hands on some….and since it is sold nationwide at Target, they are giving away a big gift card for all your Sugru needs….
Here’s how to enter:
- PRIZE: (1) $250 gift card to Target
- NUMBER OF WINNERS : (1) ONE
- TO ENTER : Click over to Sugru website, pick out your favorite project, and then comment back on this post with that Sugru project telling me all about it. It’s that easy.
- PRIZE SHIPS : U.S.
- NITTY GRITTY : This giveaway closes on Thursday, May 21st at 11:59pm EDT. Only one contest entry per email address. The winner must register their email address and will be chosen using Random.org and will be announced in an update to this post the following Friday morning. We will email the winner directly, so please make sure you use your regularly checked email address.
GOOD LUCK!

Not to be a copy cat but the make your own stamp is pretty cool and would be most likely what I’d use it for, I have a ton of pill bottle tops at the ready to add it to. Thinking about stamping up a coffee table for the living room…
But I also kind of liked the idea of making lid holders for the inside of my kitchen cabinet doors! I think that’s such a smart way to store them but I really don’t want to have to drill holes in the inside, so this would be a great substitute!
Lauren says
Cool stuff! I’d use it to reinforce our Apple chargers since they always are ripping apart.

I would use Sugru to make the iPhone bumpers! You are basically creating little bumpers for each corner of your iPhone to help protect it when it’s dropped. I’ve lost multiple iPhone (that were in cases!) when they dropped perfectly flat and the screen shattered, so I love this idea for giving my phone some more protection.
Jesse says
Oh man. I would go for the plain white Sugru and use it for evvvvverything.
shannon says
Mounting your bike light to your helmet is BRILLIANT! I will be doing this shortly…
Erika says
Oh my goodness, the possibilities are endless!! I was immediately drawn to the rain boot repair project. My own rain boots just cracked, and I was lamenting the fact that I might have to go and spend money on boots that nobody ever sees (I wear them for yard work and hikes through the mud with my boys). Not to mention the number of boots my boys go through because riding bikes in rain boots = cracked rain boots. Did I mention we live in the Pacific Northwest? No? Well, rain boots also = winter boots which also = cracks. Can’t wait to check out their product!!
Sarah says

Geeze, it seems like this stuff can do anything! I think the most practical application in my life right now would be fixing electronic cords. I feel like all of mine are broken lately. It seems 100x better than duck tape. Looks like I need to run to Target…
Jen says
Looks amazing but I don’t see anything about it being non-toxic. As the wife of a litigation attorney, I worry that the lack of “non-toxic” on the front of the package means it either is toxic or they don’t know either way. Usually that’s a clear statement on the front of a package. I’d worry about rolling it in my hands, having it where the kids could touch it and most likely manage to chew on it.
Heidi says
I also have a freezer repair – the shelf must have shrunk because it keeps falling down – sugru to the rescue.
Sarah says
OHMYGAAAHHHH! The STAMPS! I have been searching high and low for some affordable trellis curtains, and this may be THE perfect way to just make them myself! Kellee says
The cable repair! Seriously, the amount of money I could save on replacing iPhone cables might score me a tropical vacation.
Joanna says
I love this stuff – I’ve been using it for a while now. It’s saved many broken cables and the bottom of my TV remote. I made feet for my metal napkin holder (it was scratching the glass table). Now I want to make little hooks on the kitchen utensils I use most so they can hang on a rack, and put magnets in dishcloths so they can stick to the oven.
Emily G says
I am loving the project idea to use it outside for a wedding! An easy fairly noninvasive way to add decorations to nature! Oh or the one for attaching magnets to a surface! Brilliant then you can easily move/attach different items like the vases or even to hang pictures/papers!
suzanne says
love the crafting ideas
Jenna says
I loved the stained glass artwork!
Krista says
Oh my gosh, so many ideas! Genius! My favorite idea is to use it to fix leaky rain boots. I thought I’d have to throw my favorite pair out! I hope I win the gift card, but I’m getting this stuff regardless. Thanks Katie!

Shannon says
Great giveaway, Katie and Jeremy! Thanks for organizing it.
This is kinda lame but my favorite projects from their website was putting up hooks without using screws. We’re avoiding putting hooks in a few places because of the whole drill/hole-in-the-wall/needing wall anchors aspect. The hooks for drying shoes on the radiator is brilliant!
Sara R says
I love all the crafty things you can do with Sugru, especially the customized stamps!

I love the crafty ideas for stamping. However, with three little kids, I don’t get around to crafting much anymore. I would probably be more likely to fix a bunch of broken necklaces (that said kids helped break) or try the waterproof knee patch idea.
Megan says
I think the universal cable grip is a great idea!
Thea says
I love the idea of making stamps! The feather is so fun! And the letters. But a giant fabric stamp would be awesome to personalize fabric for a home décor project! Like Stamped duck cloth for an upholstery project or curtains or a headboard….so many ideas!
Meggan Redfield says
I liked the craft projects, but by far the most useful for me would be to make shoes more comfortable. I get blisters from every single pair of shoes, even the “comfy” ones! Bandaids or the like don’t work and stuff doesn’t stay in place, this may be great.
angela says
The DIY copper vase is my favorite.
Thank you for the giveaway opportunity.
Sarah H says
LOVE the “featherweight stamp” project, so many potential uses! (Tablecloth, tote bag, pillowcase…..)
Andrea says
I loved the drill that they improved by adding the light and the drill bit holder–so handy & awesome!!
Megan U says
Oh my goodness! The stamping projects had me from the start! How cute are they! I can see many a crafting hour with my 8yr old daughter making stamps and creating! I think making sets of napkins could be super fun to make and such wonderful hostess gifts for her to give to her friends’ moms for sleepovers or BBQs. And, I love the wax seals for letters. We write so many letters and this would make them that much more fun to open! What a cool product!
Mimi says
Hi Katie! I love the idea of sprucing up my backyard with all of these fab ideas: https://sugru.com/blog/get-your-outside-space-ready-for-spring – particularly patching my wicker patio furniture that has become nearly obsolete and adding comfy handles to my gardening tools. Who knew such a project could be so useful in many ways. Thank you for introducing me!
Emily E says
I like the wax seal idea! Fun for those letters that no one writes anymore…but maybe it would encourage the dying art!
Becky Shultz says
I’m obsessed!!!! I love the project with connecting the sugru to the iPad charger to keep it together. We currently can’t even use the iPad because my kids broke the charger and we need to buy a new one. I’ve been browsing their site for a half hour. Such great project ideas!

I love the idea of using Sugru to make hooks to hang lights from. We are going through our first full summer at our house and we are getting the yard and sunroom all set up. Using something like this to get some lights up sounds amazing and like a great way of seeing how we like them before doing anything more permanent.
Laura V says
I love the customized converse craft with sugru. You can mix a color or leave it white, but you put it on the top rubber part of the converse shoe or to the fabric part if you want, then let it dry fully. My girl’s would love to have even more colorful shoes.

I’ve gotta say, anything that can be used to mount stuff to a wall is a winner for me! I change wall art layouts all the time and the amount of nail holes I end up with is insane! Heck, I could probably even use some of this to fill those holes. 😉
Karen B. says
I’m sooo excited! I have a pair of shoes that slip in the heel. I’ve tried just about every stick on heel thingy on the market, and have yet to find one that will actually adhere to my shoe and stay put while I walk. I need Sugru to make an adorable pair of shoes stay on my feet (comfortably!) I also love the fact that I’ll be able to match the color of my shoes. I can see a lot of this product in my future, that’s for sure!

I’m a runner and always have to be creative with where I put my house key/car key when I’m running. (It’s probably not wise to keep flashing the neighbors while trying to tie it to the inside of my shorts!) So I love the idea of putting it on my shoe with sugru. Thanks for the post Katie!

Katie W says
I have to say, I did not find this product as awesome as everyone else. I tried to fix the small plastic piece on my trashcan that connects the metal pole for the pedal to lift the lid (hard to explain), and the sugru didn’t fix it. It was hard to get it to stick, and then after it dried, I opened the lid and it just snapped immediately. It was disappointing. But I did reinforce all my iphone cords, so that was cool….
Sheila says
I love Sugru! I’m going to try the idea for stringing outdoor lights to use up some packs I’ve got on hand. Great that it’s now available at Target, too!

I LOVE the one in the CRAFT section that shows to put Sugru on your crochet needles. Oh my gosh! All the LEGO ideas!!! Who knew that Lego hands were the perfect size to hold all those darned cords we’ve got drifting around — now we could have Lego people holding them so when we’re ready to charge our phones we’ll have a cord right there. Heaven knows we have plenty of Lego mini-figures around here to hold all our cords and more… 🙂
Pre says
I checked out the website, but I have to say my favorite project is one I saw on another blog back in Nov/Dec – the blogger used Sugru to turn little action figures, toys, etc into ornaments.
I have a couple of tiny figures from when I was a kid that would make such cute ornaments (like mini transformers and strawberry shortcake), but screwing in an eye pin does not work for certain materials, like plastic — you can add a little Sugru to the top and make a hole in it, or add a jump ring through it – then once set attach your hook or hanging loop for cute, personalized, sentimental ornaments.
Christy says
I love the kid-friendly camera!
Darlene A says
WOW! Fixing and insulating all those electrical cords and chargers with Sugru would be so fulfilling.

I’m in a rental and always hesitant to nail things up… I’d love to use this stuff to hang some garland lights on the wall behind the TV!
Susie says
I’ve never seen this stuff before – what a cool product! It’s tempting to go straight to hanging outdoor lights with it (no hole drilling!), but I’m most excited about the prospect of fixing all my phone/iPad/Kindle/Leappad power cords – I swear, every single one of them is coming apart somehow.
Jennie Andersen says
If this can fix my rusted dishwasher racks, then I’m sold!
Michelle Fitzgerald says
Wow.. never knew about this stuff. The possibilities seem endless. I have two small boys and I like the idea of personalizing cups for them. They fight over things so this would be an awesome way to make them feel as though they have their own.

I saw something about Sugru and wanted to try it but didn’t want to order online. I’m at Target a lot and cannot believe I’ve missed seeing it there. I will have to get some soon. So many uses. I think the first thing I’ll do is make some hooks so I won’t have to drill into tile. I also have a broken shelf in my fridge. Love what you did for Weston’s utensils.
Love me some Target so crossing my fingers I win the gift card!
Julie b says
So many ideas!!! I found I think 99 things already that I could’ve fixed with this instead of having to buy a new expensive part. (Like my dyson vacuum cleaner. Love it but it’s made of plastic and $140 for a replacemention part later… Or the silverware rack in my dishwasher…or the plug for my laptop…or the handle for my fav pair of scissors….)

Megan says
Wow! This is great! I would probably have to tackle our own broken refrigerator shelves first and then start on some Lego men!
Cassie says
Sugru & magnets. The organization possibilities! 😀
Jen says
wow! Thanks so much for posting about this stuff – I had never seen it before and it looks so great! I will have to look for it at Target this weekend!
For my contest entry:
I’m especially impressed by the fact that you can use it to hook things, like they show on this project page:
https://sugru.com/blog/add-a-little-diy-to-your-outdoor-events
The wedding ideas are great, especially since I’d assume this doesn’t hurt the tree the way that staples or nails do!

Mackenzie says
OH MY GOSH !
Cracked rubber boots are the worst – stepping in a puddle and getting that cold wet feeling makes me just want to go home and start over. I would definitely try the sugru project to fix them rather than having to buy a new pair, especially for kids!
heidi says
OMG! where has this been my whole life? How have I never heard of this? I want to attach lego guys to everything. I also want to make hooks and attach them to nonstick things. And, and…. so much more. I NEED some of this stuff.
Lu Robinson says
So many ideas! There were lots to like – putting lids on the back of the cabinet door, hooks for different things, i have a hole in the bottom of my dishwasher basket for silverware and something is always falling through unless you put it all in just right – this would be perfect to fix the hole.
Courtney Madden says
Is “all of the projects” an appropriate response?! We are redoing our bathroom right now (using your new guest bath as inspiration!!) and I love the idea of non-permanently sticking things using Sugru!
Sarah says
i love how practical this is! The thermos grips are genius! I can never get the tops off!
Danielle L. says
This reminds me of an old commercial on tv for a similar putty that they used to fix broken coffee mugs and just about anything else. Same stuff probably! Anyway, I checked out the website and I like the Sugru magnets. Stick the stuff to the back of flat disc magnets and then you can mount under shelves and hang keys, scissors, etc. I could see using this in my craft/sewing room!
Kim says
I’m actually obsessed with the toddler utensils that you made. I would definitely do that for my kids!
Carrie K says

“How to make a solar charger for a mobile phone”
!!?!??!? Seriously? I want to make this. My phone is ALWAYS one snapchat away from being dead. I’ll have to enlist in some help with the soldering, but it’ll be worth it! Thank you light for powering my phone that I’m too busy to find a plug for!
TRICIA says
OMG!!! I LOVE THAT THIS STUFF CAN BE USED FOR A MILLION DIFFERENT THINGS. IM GETTING SOME TO FIX MY HANGERS TO HELP KEEP THE CLOTHES FROM SLIDING OFF THEM!!! THIS ALWAYS DRIVES ME CRAZY BUT I DON’T WANT THE EXPENSE OF BUYING ALL NEW HANGERS!! THANKS KATIE FOR INTRODUCING ME TO THIS PRODUCT!!

Heather B says
This stuff is so cool! I really love the idea of using Sugru to attach a clip to your key and carrying it on your shoes when out for a run. My bulky key ring in my pocket on a run is the bane of my existence!
Kim says
There are so many ideas! While I’m sure there are plenty of thingsbthatbvould use fixing around here, I really just liked the idea of using it to move around towel holders and whatnot in the bathroom (without drilling holes in the wall)
Debby says
I was also going to say the stamps, but then realized that I never actually use stamps so scratch that. Then I saw the shell pendants. I have gobs of beautiful shells (that I’ve never actually done anything with! :P) and LOVE the idea of easily making them into pendants with this magic putty! 🙂 Thanks for sharing! I’d never heard of it before! But I’m pretty sure my boys would find some way of making me wish I’d never brought it into my house! I can see them permanently sealing the toilet seat up or affixing my shoes to the floor to mess with me or something.
christine says
I love the project hanging outdoor lights without drilling!
Amy S. says
I loved the idea of using it to hang outside lights — I think I am going to give it a try on my deck!

I’m so glad you reviewed this – I’ve been wanting to try it for 9 months or so but it’s not cheap just to see if it works! Plus, now you say it’s at Target!!
From the Sugru website I love the idea of experimenting with the layout of your bathroom sans drills, holes in your walls and regret!
I have two projects that I’ve been thinking about using Sugru for:
1) I have a stucco wall on my patio that would be great to hang things on but I can’t because I live in a condo and it’s not allowed to drill into stucco so I want use Sugru to hang stuff! Specifically your outdoor art on the wall of your newly renovated deck I want to try something similar.
2) My cat scratched at the wall in my bathroom after he’s done using the litter box. I want to hang a sisal mat on the wall so he’s scratching that instead of my wall. I don’t want to use nails/screws/staples because if it doesn’t work I don’t want to mar the wall and I don’t want his claws to ever catch on those things so I’m thinking Sugru to the rescue!
Laura says

My husband heard about Sugru last year & I’m totally hooked! We’ve already used it for a few of their ideas – namely, our tension shower curtain rod kept falling down (even once when I was in the shower!) but I didn’t want to drill holes in my nice new tile, so we jammed some Sugru on each end and it’s been in place for months now. We also used it to make a little hook on the back of our bed to hang our phone charging cord on, so we don’t have to fumble around on the floor for it. I love all the craft ideas they have now too!

I loved the project where the woman fixed the vintage sewing machine. She needed a knob. I have lived with a broken piece on my old sewing machine ( It’s from the 1970″s but I wouldn’t call it vintage) since about 1981. The machine works fine but the piece that you can take on and off to make it a sleeve thingy has lost a leg. I have for all these years stuffed something under there to kind of sort of fix it..It is never actually level…I am very excited that I will finally be able to fix this problem.

I actually liked the rock door stopper. Since it was taking something hard and giving it a soft edge to bounce off of; it gave me an idea to soften the corners of tables (such as coffee tables). It could be totally cute too!! You can use fun colors or etch a design into them as well.

It’s listed as non-toxic on the Target website but that means a great number of things. More specifically, it is not food-safe or medical grade and since it does contain silicone, it can irritate skin in the uncured form (if you are sensitive to silicone or one of the other ingredients!) and so yes, you are right about the fact that you don’t want to have someone chew on it. In the cured form, it says on the website “it is safe for everyone and for general skin contact”. I don’t know why certain info is not listed on the packaging…but it is a UK company so maybe it’s a different set of rules over there? Here is the contact form if you would like to ask them a question directly…they can probably give you much better answers than me 🙂

I’ve just really gotten into crocheting, and I saw in their crafting section two different ideas. One is to use it to make the crochet hooks more comfortable (the hand fatigue can get pretty bad) and the other is to make a yarn basket with hoops on the edge to keep the yarn from tangling. I love that these are both customization and I don’t need to buy something preformed that may not be exactly what I was looking for.
I’m going to have to run to target and check out this Sugru stuff!

The pencil grips and ruler grip would help us a ton! We homeschool and our pencils are forever rolling off the table!! We lose minutes and attention spans just chasing pencils out from under the table back to where they should be. I LOVE, LOVE…like triple dog LOVE…that it can fix rain boots!
I crack my rain boots every {EVERY} stinkin’ year!
I wear them in the winter for the rain, then summer hits and here in California that means a dry heat, ZERO rain, and I then use my rain boots for gardening boots and in the dry heat they crack all up which is no big deal in August in 120 temp, but then November hits and our first big rain storm, and I grab my rain/gardening boots and slip them on…and then I have wet soggy feet the rest of the day!!!
nic says
I would use this to hang otudoor lights around my patio this summer!
Beth says
I actually just bought some at target to fix my son’s play yard. It’s a big plastic divider that separates his play space from the rest of the living room. I was worried we were going to have to buy a new one but I’m hoping this works instead!

Jill S says
Mind Blown! I looked at the 18 spring projects, and will now order this stuff. Super excited! From the 18 spring projects, I want to do the self watering pot (genius and low cost), fix a pesky gutter that I some gutter-fixing gloop didn’t work on, improve on the water handle (tough to turn), fix the patio umbrella, and adding rubber feet to the margarita pitcher. Sugru should work on our patio chairs too. The rubber caps have worn off, and the liquid plastic looked to messy to use, and I can’t find replacement rubber caps. I have a broken left side mirror that I haven’t had anything work on. Couple of the sugru balls should make the mirror attach to the housing!
Katy says
I thought the tree covered with frames & decorations was super cool (perfect for an outdoor wedding or event) and something I would have thought could be done only with nails! With three kids we constantly have things that are broken just a little bit, but just enough to be unusable, so this will come in handy! Had never even heard about it until your post!
Kelly says
Hanging outside lights with Sugru looks like a fun project. No drilling into the house!

Great idea! I wonder if my grandmother would need that. I know she has really bad arthritis!
