I’m over it. It was fun for the first few days…but now? Totally over it. No longer happy. Closure complete. I’m done with the cold temperatures, ice, and that funny tasting yellow snow. Duh-uun. Finn-ish. Let’s move on to the fresh, happy, vibrant time of year shall we? I’m talkin to you Mother Nature. Let’s get to spring…and I know just what to wear 🙂
You guys just got my winter wishlist…but you know that as I was combobulating my winter-ware, I couldn’t help but sneak peeks at all the non-wooly items. I was overcome with love at the pastels. I was throttled at the light fabrics, the short sleeves, and the fun patterns. And I was like a deer in the headlights at the thought of bathing suits. I think the technical term would be half-comatose.
Some of you may not understand why bathing suits would be on my spring wishlist. It’s because I live near Hotlanta…and our wonderfully diverse city didn’t get it’s nickname for having mild springs. No. Our springs here are like the summers in other parts of the country…as in warm enough to get you cravin’ pool time. And this year I realized that my itty-bitty-polka-dot-bikini just isn’t gonna cut it with my post-pregnancy body. This tankini from Land’s End Canvas is preppy enough to make me feel young but covers up my ‘looser’ bits.
This sweater from Target is like someone took a party, melted it down, infused it into cotton and wove it up into a cardigan. I seriously think it is perfect for a little kid’s birthday party…now just to find someone who is having a birthday celebration this spring…hmmm….wonder if I can find one of those 🙂
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…the Canvas line by Land’s End is cookin’ my bacon. This striped polo is no exception…love how versatile it is, love the almost-30-appropriateness, love the fact that it looks a little long (perfect for my muffin-top that ate a spare tire). And $13? yes please.
I struggle with finding cute dresses for church. Granted, the average age at our church is like 75 but that only says to me that these classy ladies have had over twice the amount of time to accumulate clothing that works for them. This JCrack dress looks like it could participate in my wardrobe for years to come while still putting a little spring in my step.
I know my legs and my legs say that 5″ inseams are the thing that works for them. They hit just low enough to cover that flappy flab that resides on my inner thigh…and just short enough to be, well, shorts. Love (like a blogger loves wi-fi) the bright apple green of these Canvas chino shorts.
This shell is perfect for throwing over a pair of jeans so that you can head out the door. No skinny straps means that you don’t even have to change your bra. And the color? fahgetaboutit.
I eyed Hunter boots for a long time. Then I saw these Target versions. They are almost identical except for one little thing…the pricetag. I might be gifting myself these if the snow ever melts and we get those famous April showers.
I have one of these scoopneck babydoll tees from VS and I adore it. It is just like a regular teeshirt in the comfort factor, but it is so much better looking and more flattering than my intermural champion gray version that I got ten years ago. You know the one…it has paint blobs and bacon drippings on it…not so hot.
Walmart never ceases to amaze me. Sometimes in a bad way. Sometimes in a very very good way. Like this ruched one-piece…holy-vintage-inspired-glam-hottie-batman! Don’t hold me to it…but this literally could make Slyvester Stallone look like a pinup doll.
Excuse me while I run to Target to buy these ballet flats. The ruffle has me at hello and the teal has me saying goodbye to fuddy-duddy. And that price is so cheap, I’ll probably burn more than that in gas just to get to the store.
Long enough to cover my belly and the whack-attack-in-the-back? check. Affordable? oh yeah. Cute enough to wear with comfy leggings and not get in the way of breastfeeding or require me to break out the spanx? Yup, yup and yup. Consider me sold.
It’s one of my monthly resolutions to wear a party dress. This Madeleine dress from JCrew would be perfect for a tea party or baby shower or anything requiring more class than my sweatpants.
So Mother Nature…let’s get going…spring forward would ya? And I’ll be there with pastel on….
What are you gonna wear this spring?
Robin says
man you come up with some totally cute stuff!! I love the mixture of things like walmart & jcrew! I love all the spring colors, I can’t wait for warmer temps!
Heather C says
Love it all!! You have excellent taste lady! Now I need to get myself on over to Lands End Canvas and check out what it’s all about. 🙂 Thanks! Unfortunately, spring is going to be a lot farther away up here in Michiganland. Take it easy and keep it comin’ with the ways to cover the muffin top. After 4 kids, I certainly do know what you’re talkin’ about.
Kelsey says
OK, don’t hate me but it’s been beautiful and in the 70s down here in Phoenix and I was wishing for a new skirt to wear this weekend and feeling blah! about my wardrobe of black and grey. This list looks lovely!

The rain boots are wonderful for the cold weather too. They make walking in the snow a breeze and you know Atlanta is probably going to have a wet winter according to the farmer’s almanac. I think you should go ahead and get them 😉
Ashley says
I love every single piece here….and I want them all. But I think I need to wait…I’m going to be experiencing the post-baby body syndrome in May, and who knows what size or shape I’ll be in by then 🙂
kat says
ooh I love the shorts – they’re just long enough to be comfy but short enough to be cute and I love the colours – plus they’re on sale now for 9.99!!! Grabbing a bunch, thanks for the hint!

I had a baby this past April, so I’m with you on the TANKINI-front sister! I’m also pleased to see that Land’s End is so reasonably-priced. I’ve never thought to shop there, but you may have helped them gain a new customer… Do I smell SPONSORSHIP in the air???

Love love love it! All of it! We’re definintely ready for the spring weather to show its face in Kansas. And I am super excited to check out Lands End Canvas. It looks like an awesome line for our demographic. Thanks for sharing!

I love all of the finds. It seems like you make everything seem less expensive when I look at what all I can get for my bucks! Great prices!

I fell in love with skirts on bathing suits this past summer. I ALSO know what my legs can and cant wear 🙂 The tankinis at Lands End are SO cute, and they have bottoms with skirts…now these arent your mommas skirt were talking about 🙂 They are between 8 and 12 inches long total, so they are still super cute, but also cover my rear.
I bought a pair of ‘Wellie” like rain boots at target this past fall. Black with polka dots…didnt know if I was too old to pull them off, but they are soooo stinkin’ cute!!!
Love your fashion picks!!!!

Love it all! I plan on wearing a shorter version of sweatpants all summer. 🙂 The joys of working from home. Even though, when I do shoots, I guess I do have to wear real clothes. Boo.
michelle says
I’m glad to hear Georgia is summer-like in spring…I’m visiting in May and will be ready for some warm weather!! Having a trip planned is the only way I get through long, cold winters!!
Jules says
You should share some of these lists for the boyfriend too! Love your picks. 🙂
Chrissy says
I am with you! Winter can just go awaayyy. We live in South Texas, so I too know the spring-but-really-it’s-summer weather. It is AWESOME. And I need to check out the Land’s End Canvas line: those clothes are adorable! Have a great week!
Ashley says
I’m totally thinking I should wear what you’re wearing… I’m loving the Lands End stuff… I’ve never worn it before but it looks perfect for the almost thirty-mom 🙂 I wasn’t really looking forward to spring/summer clothes in my post having a baby bod, but thanks to your wardrobe inspiration…Bring it 🙂

Very cute finds, and thanks for the Lands End Canvas tip – just placed my order! For anyone else considering, don’t forget the discount codes. I used “thinkwarm”, pin “3326” to save 20% and get free shipping on my $50 order. I loves me a good deal! Now off to Target for those adorable flats…
Heather @ REOlisticRenovation says
Again with the cute (cheap) stuff from Land’s End! WHERE do I get a catalog? I seriously need to get on this. Also LOVING those ador yellow rainboots. TARGET? Seriously? Might have to go stalk them tomorrow.

I’m loving the land’s end canvas stuff too! As you try some of their stuff out, will you let us know how it fits? The traditional land’s end line tends to run big, so I’m not sure how to buy from canvas. Thank you so much for the tip!
Emily says
Oh KB, we walk to the same beat. I have that striped swimsuit (and mix and match bottoms) and LURVE it for that same post partum body issue. And the yellow wellies. And the ruffle flats (though mine cut the backs of my ankles, fyi). Awesome finds, I’m jealous you’re about to get summer weather and we’re just heading into our cold seasonl
Isabell says
I absolutely fell in love with those apple green shorts…

I LOVE all of your choices being I am 11-weeks post pregnancy as well. I’m in desperate need for some cute clothes that fit. Thanks for the hints!
Kyley says
I got the lands end canvas polo for xmas…LOVE it! Wish it came in lots more colors, I’d get them all.
And it is pretty long – great for 5’11” people like me! 🙂
Ashley Eiban says
Oh this is some CUTE stuff! I am totally ready for Spring too! It is fun at first, to pull out your tights and wear some cute layers, but once Christmas has passed, then it’s just time to get warm again!
ashley @ sunnysideshlee.com says
Love your selections and JCrew is fabulouso! Be careful of those wellies though, especially if they’re the cheaper version. I had a pair of GAP rainboots and came inside from taking my dogs out in the rain (2 years ago) and slipped down my wooden stairs and fell straight onto my back. I hyper extended the muscle in my lower back and couldn’t move. It was so scary. So learn from me and look for non-slip bottoms, especially with that cutie baby in your arms! 🙂
Emily says
I love all the picks too. I think I might just take the entire wish list as my own. One thing to note about Target wellies is that they tend to leak a bit. They are great for short periods but not the best for extended puddle time. This has happened to me twice, but others may have had different experiences.
shannon says
i have those ruffly ballet flats from target and they are THE BEST FLATS EVER. seriously – so dang comfy.
run katie run!
Jenny says
So cute! Just out of curiosity, do you know that all these things will actually look good on you, or are they just things you like? I have such a hard time finding things that actually look good on me (I think I am a bit shorter and wider than you are). How do you choose things that look good?
Julie says
Katie,
Those shorts from Lands End Canvas are now on sale for 9.99. Might want to snap them up!

So after your winter list I checked out Lands End Canvas, loved it, and ordered a few of their winter things on clearance. They are awesome! And I even got a handwritten thank you card from Canvas for my order a couple days later. For realz? Who does that? Love it!
