The weather here has been a little crazy lately so we’ve had a really wet April. But as everyone knows…April showers bring May flowers so I’m eager to see those blooms!
Here is my Spring photo challenge picture. It’s of course my sweet Weston when we went trekking in the woods. I am WAY out of photography practice so this ‘challenge’ is definitely some needed time with my camera. It was definitely not during prime lighting conditions but I tried to make a little ‘filter’ with a sheet hung between two trees. In the end, it turned out darker than I wanted so I had to do a bit of lightening in post processing but it still screams ‘spring’ to me and it’s got Weston smiling so I’m happy 🙂

Now it’s your turn to share your photos. I really can’t wait to see them!
Here are the instructions if you are a linky-party newbie…
- click on the blue “Add Your Link” button at the bottom of this post – add a link to your Spring photo challenge blog post in the url field (please do not link to your home page).
- pretty pretty please remember to link to only SPRING PHOTO CHALLENGE posts. I love your bathroom remodel. This is not the place for it 🙂
- If you’d rather just link over to your photo in the comment section, feel free to do that – or even add a link to a free photo sharing site like Flickr or Photobucket with your pic if you don’t have a blog (remember to set the gallery to public so we can all see it).
- Please remember that if you choose to leave a comment on someone’s photo, that we are all still learning and there is a fine line between criticism and breaking someone’s photography spirit…when in doubt, be gentle and encouraging…we aren’t Anne Geddes yet 🙂

LOVE this photo of Weston! Would have been cute without the sheet, but the sheet really screams spring. Love it!

I grew up in San Antonio, where Fiesta takes place for a few weeks every April. Nothing shouts of springtime more than cascarones, or confetti-filled eggs. We traveled to Texas last weekend to surprise my mom and introduced my 10-month-old son to one of my favorite traditions!

Ok this may be a silly question, but can we submit more than one? =)
or have more than one spring photo in the post we link to?

Katie that’s an adorable picture of Weston! My picture didn’t turn out like what I had pictured in my head, but I enjoyed the challenge anyway. I’m looking forward to the upcoming challenges as well. Is it possible to have the theme announced a little more in advance for crazy type A planning people like me?

Love this idea! I definitely need some practice. My dog Chewbacca is my muse as you can see. Babies and dogs are the best practice because they move so quick!

We take our nylon/synthetic rugs to the car wash and hang them on the clamps for floor mats. We use the wand soap option and then the rinse (without wax) until it runs clear. We roll them up and put in the back of the truck. This takes two people because they are heavy when wet. We then drape them over the deck railing until no more water runs out of them. They are then moved to a shady spot to finish drying. The rugs look brand new. Do not use this method on wool or wool blend rugs just synthetic rugs.

Sure!

Yes! I plan on announcing the next one half way through the month so you’ll have two weeks next time!

Such a fun linkup (not just to join but to explore, too!). I am just getting started with photography… having a serious obsession with all things floral right now, this season has been my favorite one yet for my Project 52: Weekly Walk. I’ve just been using my phone/filters but it’s inspired me to keep going with it (and to get a real camera someday!) 🙂
Emily says
oh, oops!! I didn’t realize this challenge was an actual photo challenge you had created! I just read that you will post the next challenge ahead of time – I’ll follow the rules next time! 😉

Hi Katie, I would love to play along but I do not have a blog. Is there a way I could upload a photo without a link?

Weston’s shirt? MUST have it for my boy :))
I love following Weston’s development as he is just a couple of weeks behind my boy. Its such a fun age , I am loving every minute of it.

A little off topic, but where did you get the sheet? I could SWEAR I had those sheets on my bed as a kid! Memories!

I posted this pic to my instagram. It screams Spring to me… It was taken with my phone, i’m not sure if it counts. http://instagram.com/p/nN2ZXSHpr4/

Why is your ISO so high if you are shooting outside? I thought the lower you could have your ISO the better for clarity of the picture.
Katie says
The sun was high in the sky so we went to a shaded area to avoid the bad shadows which boosted my ISO a bit and then to get my shutter speed high enough and my aperture high enough for a FAST moving toddler it got boosted again.
