Yesterday I asked if it would be weird if I posted everyday. At the same time. Kinda like a schedule. Which I am notoriously terrible at. And most of you said YES. I even got emphatic emails. Which of course it does flatter me and make me feel special and all those fuzzy emotions but also scares me a little. I’m gonna need you to agree to forgive me. I already know I will fail you. I know myself and a time keeper I am not. BUT I am gonna start next week posting at 10am. It’s gonna be a thing. Just be prepared. This week will still be by the seat of my pants, but it’ll be like the binge before the diet….or maybe the diet before the binge? That analogy doesn’t make a whole lot of sense but whatevs.
Today I am just sharing some snippets of my life…
Took photos of William’s baseball team. I’ve done it a few times now and this time I love the fence vibe. It’s one that I feel like I could recreate when he is bigger. And that shadow on his face gets all the heart eyes. And also his little attitude here is totally fake. He never acts this way to me. I’m the love of his life right now and I eat it up! He wrote me a note the other day and it said “Dear Katie, Will you marry me? Love William.” and then it had a picture of a rainbow. And sometimes he quotes Little Rascals before bed and says I am the skunk between his toes 🙂 And then he says he can’t say he hates me because he loves me. And I melt 🙂
Side note on baseball right now….anyone else out there feeling like rec leagues aren’t teaching good sportsmanship as much as they should? At the risk of sounding like a grandmother who walked to and from school and it was uphill both ways with no shoes and in three feet of snow….I just wish there was more of that emphasis in our community. Like an entire practice devoted to teaching them the basics….taking a knee when someone gets hurt, giving high fives to people that do well, learning to say congratulations and you got me this time. I am not in the camp of “everyone is a winner” but I’m also not in the camp of “winning is everything”. Just a thought.
Took my camera into Home Depot during a supply run….the results were worth it.
Max giving kisses until he didn’t feel like it anymore. Very opinionated that one.
Max blowing on my coffee. He thinks he is in charge of pushing the button on the Keurig and using the stir stick to mix in the creamer and also the blowing. It’s his job…don’t think about taking it away from him or you risk his wrath. His tiny little throw himself on the ground wrath that usually involves a very cute pouty lip and followed up with a sly little smile and a head butt.
Blue Steel. Duck Lips. Mom stop talking about me.
Yes, we need two buggies at Home Depot. It’s usually three at other stores….one to hold two kids, one to hold the other two, and one for actual purchases. Don’t mess with the Bower train. We will run you over. Seriously though…where are we gonna fit another kid?!
camera. light. shadows.
Did I tell you that LJ is like REALLY verbal? I mentioned that right? It always surprises me….just because it’s full conversations.
Our couch is falling apart. The rug in here (and the office one and the dining room one) has dog marks all over it. I’m thinking of getting this steamer. Any thoughts? No don’t share your thoughts about how I’m awful at getting the dog outside in time….he just is a stinker that refuses to do what I say.
The other photos I had wanted to post won’t rotate. So I guess I’ll just throw them in next time.
In other news…it’s 85 degrees in Georgia today. I need a pool. And someone to take care of the pool. And one of those covers so that kids can’t possibly drown in said pool. And possibly a virgin daiquiri maker. hmmm….that sounds nice. Also….I ordered a console from Wayfair like a month ago and it’s still not here. WAH! I just want to show you this finished space and that console is the missing final touch! Just wait till you see the art and our new chairs. They are so comfy and you will want to cuddle me in them.
And the lights for our bathroom makeover are backordered till June…so I’m hunting new lights. Suggestions? BUT today we got great news because we wanted a new vanity top of marble and the super awesome peeps over at a local countertop and cabinet place – A Polished Finish (it’s literally across the street from us in Loganville) found a perfect remnant and we can get the whole thing cut and installed for $200. STEAL. And I found my box of maternity pants which ya know…makes me happy anytime I get to have a stretchy waistband. A waist is a terrible thing to mind 🙂 Speaking of which….it’s not a good idea to eat an entire thing of Ben & Jerry’s New York Super Fudge Chunk. Public service announcement for you. It’s basically 1200 calories of amazingness followed by 1200 degrees of regret. Even my stretchy pants are not happy with that decision.
Also – this week was Sherry’s birthday…so if you didn’t say happy birthday to her….go there now and say Haps Bdays. She is almost in her 20’s now 🙂

I’ve been following your blog for years, and I love all of your posts! Your DIY projects and hard work are inspiring. Also, thanks for sharing your beautiful family with us. Congrats on the expected new one!!! I love seeing sweet couples with large families… couples who love each other, love their kids, and do their best to raise them to be awesome people 🙂
Josie says
If you’re going to eat an entire pint of Ben & Jerry’s it should absolutely be New York Super Fudge Chunk. (I don’t understand why they even make other flavors.)

So, I didn’t verbalize my vote, but it would have been No. Of course I want more Katie, and every day at the same time would be awesome, but I really don’t want you to get burnt out! For real. If it is too crazy, we will take less Katie so you can keep some sanity!
I don’t know how you have kept this up through 5 pregnancies! I am on my 3rd and get less productive every time.

Thought you might like to see what your site looks like for me in chrome on a macbook pro. ugh. Can’t find the content. ; ( I uploaded a screenshot to an image sharing site, imgbb. Didn’t know how else to show you: https://ibb.co/mHG6aa)

I HATE my Hoover carpet cleaner. HATE it with every fiber of my being and then some. Those big machines-I’ve been through 2 now-leak everywhere out of the bottom. As soon as you turn it off it just farts all the dirty water back out on your clean floor. My neighbor complains of the same issue with hers too. You scrub a poop stain up with the hose and it is impossible to deep clean. They are a PAIN in the rear to clean the brushes. Ughhh.loathe them. I actually just picked up a rug dr so I could throw my Hoover powerpath out and am so far happier by the lack of leakage. It’s portable so it is much smaller and requires way more back labor from me but I’ll take that over malfunctioning every time. I think they all have their faults but never again would I own one like that-upright with the two compartments and my house is wall to wall carpet! Sorry-carpet cleaner topics strike a nerve with me. Nothing worse than cleaning something only to have to clean it again immediately after because of a shart.

APF did our granite in put kitchen and I can’t wait to use them for our bath remodels! Love them! Also, congrats on baby #5

I live right down the road from you in Grayson and I love reading your blog every day, but I wouldn’t put pressure on yourself to post every day at the same time. There’s this thing called life and your readers totally understand that your family is your top priority.
P.S. Have you guys transitioned from calling Will William?
Stef says
I don’t usually comment, but I just wanted to chime in and say I loved this post (and posts like this)! Also, puppies pee everywhere, don’t listen to anyone who says you’re doing something wrong – it’s part of the bargain. And I agree with Rebekah – if posting at the same time every day is going to cause extra stress and/or change your relationship with your blog, don’t worry about it!

This post was, “all the heart eyes!” Thanks for sharing Mama! I always enjoy reading your updates. Hehe, and 10:00 is when I sneak a peak at the blogs while I’m nursing my son to sleep for his nap! So, yay!

Mine looks the same – I’m on my HP Desktop 🙁

I just ordered the hoover and my friend also has one like it that she likes a lot. We are cleaning up after a kid (her) and dog pee (me) so we maybe didn’t have the sharting issue. I had another one that was a different brand that I also liked but it broke. I think they work better than professional carpet cleaners.

Love the 10am idea! Love your random posts of pictures (inspiration!!) keep it up Katie, you rock.

HIGHLY recommend the Bissell Proheat 2x. We have a 10 month-old Weimaraner puppy as well as two cats, and it’s been a LIFE saver! When at 4 months Madison ate something she shouldn’t have an we had a “surprise” awaiting us at 4am on freshly cleaned white carpets (oh and did I mention we had our house up for sale), I made a mad dash to Lowes…… Diarrhea – check (although you may have to go over more then once). Pee – that’s easy. Have used on high pile as well as low pile. Just be sure you clean it after each use…but I think that’s pretty standard practice with any steam cleaner. Also love that it has the smaller lift off which I’ve used on upholstery and stairs.

The site looked like that for me today also – I had the same view on my Dell laptop – very hard to see the content..
Susan says
What is your point? I can see the content from your screen shot you don’t like the ads stop reading. This is there job. Trying to make a living. Move on if you don’t like it
Katie says
He told us recently that he prefers William….but he also said that he likes both so I don’t feel the pressure to do it ALL the time and never slip up. But I want him to know that his preference is important to me so I’m trying 🙂

wait…did i miss the pregnancy announcemen?
Bethany says
Susan,
I don’t think the complaint was about the ads existing, the ads on the sidebar are literally covering up a good portion of the photos. It actually looks like the size of the photos is the problem, not the ads. I think Jamie was just letting Katie know in case she wasn’t aware.
Katie says
Sorry GUYS! The formatting got screwed up (maybe I hit save, maybe I didn’t?!) but either way that was what was causing the problem. I hope it’s fixed now. As long as I hit save again :/

I adore those photos in Home Depot. So adorable!

I might (definitely) have some New York Super Fudge Chunk stains on my shirt right now from my lunch dessert today. It’s my pregnancy go-to! Also, I have a similar model to that steamer and it is great. Lastly, the baskets in the Home Depot car carts are big enough to accommodate a baby car seat/carrier

I LOVE your posts about your family (with lots of pictures!)! Keep ’em coming! And don’t wear yourself out posting every day, for goodness sake. You’re going to be a mother to 5 kids. Take it easy. I can’t imagine doing all that you do and I only have 3 so far.
Sarah says
Katie….sportsmanship!! Yes! We are a team who has been together since 3 year old tball (and now they are 8 and 9 years old!!!!). Coaches early on preached brotherhood as the motto. Someone bats a home run? Run out and high five his helmet! Be exicted for your fellow teammates success and support them in their errors. Nothing less is acceptable.
You know what it did? Not only are they like 11 little brothers to one another, they treat the other teams well too! We are VERY competitive, but hey….when the short stop on the other team makes three amazing plays in a row? After the game the coaches and kids go over and say something, letting them know “great work”!
It all comes down to leadership and their actions. Some people think our head coach isn’t fierce enough to Umpires. They forget he has 11 sets of eyes watching his every move, and he has to set an example.
Just my 2cents! Xoxo!

It’s fixed now! 🙂

First, the picture of Max kissing Weston gets all the heart eyes. I gasped. I live for those moments between my two boys.
Second, I’m with you on the sportsmanship. I will say, though, that it wasn’t until maybe this past year that my almost 9-year-old really got what that meant despite our constant efforts to teach him how to be a good sport and teammate. My husband coaches his baseball team (always has since pre-K) and it’s a big focus for him. At the younger ages, it was a feat just to keep them engaged in the game and cheering on their own team. As they’ve gotten older and better at the game themselves, I think they have an easier time recognizing when someone else has done something awesome. I also believe with my son that hockey made a huge difference in his sportsmanship, and maybe that’s because it is such a team effort for every play. It can be frustrating as a parent to not see it from them yet, but you will, soon. 🙂

Hey Katie, finally getting caught up on my blog reading! I just want to mention the Bissell Little Green Machine. We have two dogs and two boys and this thing has been a lifesaver!! It’s really small and compact, but it cleans up dog pee (yes we have a crabby Chihuahua who loves to pee in the house…our new house that we just built last year!!!) like a breeze! We have also cleaned up milk spilled on the living room rug and it’s equally awesome for that. A friend of mine borrowed it after her dog was sick and threw up on her carpet and then she got it for Christmas because she loved it. Not only is the size great for storing it somewhere but it’s nice to not have to haul out a gigantic cleaner and you can use it for bigger jobs but also smaller ones too. You don’t have to use a ton of cleaner with it either. I obviously highly recommend it. 🙂
