I know I’ve been painfully quiet about updating everyone on everything baby-and-pregnancy-related so I just want to thank you for your patience and grace.  I don’t know how else to say it…I am overwhelmed completely with my blessings…my sweet boys…the support of you, my friends, my family…and the love that you all have shown my little family over the years…through ups and downs…celebrating the good times and holding my hand during the rough moments.  Thank you and thank you and thank you.  You are amazing people.

 

I am hoping to do a celebratory answer-all-your-questions post so if you do happen to have a question…please just leave it in the comments and I will do my best to answer and update and explain everything baby this week!

    My husband is 1 of 3 boys. My mother in law always said “I have my boys. I love my boys. But someday hopefully I’ll have 3 daughters when my sons get married.”

    I have two boys myself and I am convinced that if we decide to have one more, it will also be a boy! I can’t see our family with anything else. My boys are the same age apart as Weston and Leonard and they have a special friendship.

    My questions –
    What was your initial reaction when you found out you were having another son?

    What things are you most nervous about the transition from 2 to 3 children?

  52. YAYYYYYYYYYY! 3 BOYS – HOW WONDERFUL! I have 2 little boys and people have asked me if I want a little girl and I say,”I would love to have 3 boys!” Congratulations Bowers!

  53. Actually this is only a couple weeks longer than we waited with Will and with Weston…so I figured that it wouldn’t matter that much to folks. Boy was I wrong! And honestly I wanted to celebrate Thanksgiving (where we shared the name), Weston’s birthday, and share it with a photoshoot (I scheduled it months ago…only to have to get a substitute last minute!). It was just one of those weird timing things.

  55. I am a momma to 3 boys. 11, 7, and 4. And I couldn’t be more happy! They all have their own unique personalities…and even though it’s bittersweet because we want them to stay little forever, I look forward to seeing the men they become. Treasure every moment with your boys. Both you and your husband have so many great moments ahead of you!!

  56. Oh Katie – sweet congratulations from a mama of 3 little wild beautiful boys! We were on fertility treatment for our first two men….told we would never conceive on our own. Then with a 2 year old….and a 3 month old….we discovered God had miracle in store. Our life is messy and abundant. Most days it is a hot mess – but every day looks like the Kingdom is coming all around me. Joy and Grace and Patience (and laundry…and Lord have mercy if I step on one more lego!!!!).

  58. Welcome to the wonderful world of three little boys! It is beyond amazing! My guys are 3, 21 months and 3 months. We are still adjusting as a family of 5. But I can honestly say it has been easier this time around. It may just be that I am used to being pregnant or nursing at this point but I am happy to have my guys so close in age. Hoping they are best buds! Best of luck to you – you will do great!

  91. Congratulations! We welcomed our third boy this past August and, wow, do I love my newest boy. It feels like my heart is going to explode most days because he is so sweet. I’ve loved watching my big boys dote on him and love on him, especially now that he is smiling and laughing and they can interact with him more. I hope the rest of your pregnancy and the birth goes smoothly!

  95. Maybe it’s my own pregnancy hormones or the fact that I’m having another boy in March as well, but that video made me cry like a baby. Little boys are such a blessing! I can’t wait to hear more! Congratulations =]

    Made me cry when you added that you pray for the people waiting for their own little ones. Been there…..done that. The most troubling time of our lives.   125. Congrats. Though, I’m still confused about the timing of your announcement. I thought you were waiting until Thanksgiving so that you could tell your grandparents, namely your grandfather Leonard. But Thanksgiving was two weeks ago. I understand wanting to keep things private, or taking time to make announcements but we watched you give birth via IG so privacy can’t really be the answer, right? I just find it interesting that of all of the days following Thanksgiving, you picked the business day after your BFF’s announcement to make your own. I was holding my breath for a joint announcement but maybe the next pregnancy? That would be cute! Strange timing aside, I wish you all the best in your family growth. Remind us, when are you due?

  127. Congratulations! Beautiful video :-)). I was in the same boat as you…..but 15 years ago…2 boys, pregnant with my 3rd……went for my 20 week u/s and found not one but two more boys! It was meant to be :-). Someday…in the far future….one of them will hopefully give me a granddaughter though ;-)). Congrats again :-))

  128. Congratulations!!!! The video was so sweet. I am the mother to 3 little boys (4 years,3 years, 13 months). Although I love my boys more than anything and obviously wouldn’t trade them for anything, I also wanted a daughter more than anything. I wanted to be a mom my whole life. I always imagined having 2 girls and 2 boys. Never did I imagine having all boys. When we got pregnant with our 3rd, everyone kept telling me it was a girl. The pregnancy itself was so different than the other 2, and soon I started to believe it as well. When the tech announced it was another boy, I tried my hardest not to cry. I didn’t want to look ungrateful for this healthy baby…for the miracle from God. I bit my lips for a few minutes until I couldn’t hold it in any longer. The tears started to roll down my face. I was embarrassed of my tears as I knew so many people who had lost babies themselves, or had been trying to conceive for years and years. I thought of them and kept telling myself to suck it up. That I was blessed. It took me 3 days before I was able to stop crying and move on. A mother-daughter relationship is so different than a mother-son. Not that all are great, but I know as a mom myself, it’s my mom that I want by my side when going through life’s struggles. Okay…so I’m rambling…but wanted you to know, that if you were upset, or had to take a few days to process, I totally understand. I get it. Being a mom to 3 little boys is busy, but so rewarding. Those boys love their mamma and I feel like I have the honor of raising them to be men of God.

Will you be breast feeding again? Are you going to have any help with 3 kids? I am terrified of how I am going to handle a 17 mo old and a newborn…I can’t imagine having 3. You are an amazing mom!   143. I think there is a special reason that amazing women of faith are moms to lots of boys. My big sister has 4 boys, and while she has had a bit of heartache over the realization that she wouldn’t experience having a daughter, she realized that the world needs more strong, upstanding men. You’re raising little boys who I’m sure will grow to be men who will be wonderful fathers and husbands and people.

We shared our third baby’s name early, which we didn’t do with the other two but I suspect it was for a different reason.

  149. Congrats !!!! Little boys are joys. While mine are teens now (17, 14 and 13) they are spaced out like yours. It’s been an incredible ride, one that I wouldn’t trade for anything…. oh and as much as we love our boys we were blessed with our daughter a few years later (she’s just about 9)

    Three boys will be a lot of fun, but for all of the people saying that boys are the best. Well, I assume you don’t have any girls or you wouldn’t say that (although I did see one person comment about having a girl between her boy pregnancies but would rather have had another boy- wow. Glad you aren’t my mom). All babies are a blessing, and I know most people mean well in congratulating Katie in saying things like “boys are the best” but it’s actually really rude. What happens when/if she has a girl one day? Are you going to say “man, that sucks, boys are better”? Um, no. You’ll go on and on about how she *finally* has a little girl to shop for. Be genuine, people. Also, all babies are blessings. **steps off soapbox**

  163. I never thought people would overanalyze the timing so much! I scheduled the photoshoot about a month ago for this past Thursday…and then Sherry asked me what day I was announcing and I told her either Friday or Monday. She decided to do her announcement on Friday and I chose to do it Monday (the Bowers are all sick and we opened the CrossFit this week so we’ve been just a little bit busy)…it really didn’t have any hidden agenda and since this is probably Sherry’s last baby, I would much rather let her have her whole day to celebrate the completion of their family!
    And I am due in March 🙂

  193. Congratulations! Three boys, so fun! My newest is just a week old, and I’m SO in love with her, babies are such sweet blessings!
    Right before she was born, i went back and read your birth story with Weston, and it was really encouraging to me! She was 2 weeks past her due date and I was SO done being pregnant and I just wanted to meet my little girl!! Jesus met me in a huge way during that time and spoke to me so much, so that was a blessing, but I also wanted to let you know that your story blessed me too! When she was born (16 days past her due date) my midwives said she didn’t even look like she was a week overdue! I guess God knew what He was doing ;). Praying for a wonderful rest of your pregnancy and for a quick and easy birth!

  194. We had the soft opening on December 2nd. The grand opening is January 1st. The good news is that if people pay for January, they get December for free. It’s sortof the ‘trial run’ month seeing as how the locker rooms and the facility is still under tweaking!

  207. We’re the exact opposite! When we found out during the u/s that the third was another girl (after being convinced it was a boy), I kept saying, “I’m sorry” to my husband. I felt like the biggest ASS! I think that most people would like to know what it’s like to have one of each. Of course now that we know her neither of us would change a thing! I think we’re normal for having those reactions. 🙂

    Until Katie tells us that she is upset about having another boy, we shouldn’t assume that she is unhappy about it. Yes, she has said that she’d one day like to have a girl, but that doesn’t mean she is upset about having a boy this time. She has said she wants a house full of kids….this isn’t her last opportunity to have a girl.

    Why don’t we just ask her because apparently there are lots of people who assume she is unhappy and personally, I think it’s rude to make that assumption.

Funny story: I randomly asked my parents if we could nickname my baby brother “Jack” when we brought him home from the hospital (it has no relation whatsoever with his real name). Apparently my mom hated the name “Jack,” but my dad kind of jumped on the bandwagon (he thought it was cute that I came up with a reasonable name), so Jack he is. Decades years later, my mom now says she regrets being so tired with work/me that she didn’t fight back on the nickname. 🙂

I have been a reader for years and have sat back and watched while you have taken the crazy comments with grace, but after two miscarriages after many unsuccessful infertility treatments I am appalled by how some people think and it’s really made me realize the lack of respect we have for one another (even down to nit picking). I was shocked and disgusted by one of the previous comments, but this one isn’t just directed toward the Bower family, but toward all women who get pregnant, all women who long for a baby.
    After both of my miscarriages, while knowing God was going to carry me through, I felt very ashamed. I felt like I was wasting our ‘announcements’ (to just my husband’s parents) time after time. I commend you, Katie, for celebrating each special life that God has blessed your family with. It doesn’t matter if it’s the first baby or the twentieth baby, Amanda, each child is wanted, each child has a purpose, and each child is made in the eyes of The Lord. Shame on you for making others feel as though their precious gift is in the least way special.
    So Amanda, I hope God blesses you. I will pray for you and pray you never have to experience loss or want. I pray you never know the reasoning behind the ‘over-the-top’ (in your opinion) excitement of a new life.

I think you could have said “We’re just not ready to announce it, yet.” and been done with it.   359. YAY for boys! I have three boys (6, 9 , and 12) and let me tell you it’s crazy fun! You will find that you are instantly bonded to other mothers with 3 or more boys. It’s like a secret club that we are all just trying to survive in 🙂 My house is NEVER quite. Wrestling matches are an everyday thing. They can eat everything I buy at the grocery store in a matter of minutes. Their hugs and kisses are like a little piece of heaven. They will make you crazy. You will find yourself asking God “what in there world made him think you could handle 3 boys” and in the next breath you will be thanking Him!

  377. Mazel tov! I’m sure you’d rock the ruffle butt diapers (and so would any future offspring), but having three boys will be awesome. I kinda hate all the “Are you going to try for a girl” comments you’re getting, because that makes it seem like a fourth boy would somehow be unwanted. All we can ever try for are children, and gender is just a small part of who each child is! (Sometimes well-meaning comments are the worst. When everyone told me that my next pregnancy would be fine after I miscarried the first, I kept thinking, does that mean I have a serious problem if my next pregnancy isn’t perfect?)

    Besides, you already have one of each… one Katie clone and one Jeremy clone. The real question is what you’ll get next!!

I always wonder how others manage to make three meals a day, breastfeed, keep the house clean (my new definition of clean is pretty loose), keep the kids entertained/happy, be happy themselves, ever find the energy to have sex, maybe even have a few friends. I have to believe that others are falling behind in some categories to0. I mean…so sorry to my husband (if you know what I mean) and my own sanity…but I do manage to feed the kids.

I’m wondering if there is a reason for that. I sense you have a heart for women waiting for their own babies, and think that is beautiful. How do you balance that sensitive heart with the need to express your own JOY and details of this exciting season in your own life? Recently you shared how you stayed up late making preparations for Weston’s 1st birthday party, thinking about how he might feel when he’s older and compares his birthday to Will’s; do you have some of those same thoughts re: how you’ve shared about this pregnancy versus your other two? Again, please don’t answer this if it’s uncomfortable – but in this day of blogging and sharing I think it’s insightful to hear the behind-the-scenes thought process of what is documented and what’s not. People assuming that everyone else is just dying to know what kind of genitals your baby has is very self-centered. I really don’t think anyone ever regrets making a simple phone call or inviting a friend to dinner to tell them your news.
