About two months before Will was born we girls snapped a photo of us during our dinner party shower for our friend Austin.
The awkward hand positions were because all five of us were wild with child. Weird, yes. Especially since four outta the five of us knew that we were carrying boys. The gal in the middle – that’s Austin – was having twin dudes. That means that there were at least five ding-dongs in that photo. I don’t know why but that skeevs me out. It’s just creepy yall.
Anyhoo. I thought I would do a recent followup shot of us – well four of us anyway. Unfortunately Austin moved back to Conneticutt. Seriously Austin…would you freakin’ call?! I miss you like crazy and there is like gossip to tell you! Oh and delete your messages…the full in-box thing is like so last year!
Back to the photo. The first girl on the left is Kate. Her little boy is named Caleb and he is almost one month older than Will. Caleb was Kate’s third pregnancy…the first was a little girl named Natalie. They actually lost her at 35 weeks….the story will literally rip out your heart and squish it into a million smithereens. But that’s for another day. Kate then had Bo. Bo is one of the cutest little boys on the planet and has eyes so powerful that they could make men reverse vasectomies. Seriously. Then there is Caleb. Caleb was born two weeks early (Kate’s water broke and she had a vaginal birth with an epidural) and Kate was back in her prepregnancy clothing within two weeks. yes. I hate her too.
Then there’s me. You know how that all went down.
Then there’s Julia (that’s the gal who I shot maternity photos for recently). Julia is due with Ethan William (awesomest middle name ever!) and she alreadly has fears of a caesarean. Apparently little E is breeched and so Jule’s does all these recommended things to turn him…like lay upside down with frozen peas and a hot water bottle down her pants. That’s just a normal Saturday night for me 🙂
Lastly there is Brook. My friend Brook. Brook has a little girl Lilley who is 18 months old who was delivered via c-section after Brook’s water broke and Miss Lilley was discovered to be breeched. For this baby (whose gender is still unknown) Brook switched doctors to a little Jewish man who has turn her wee one twice already and is planning for a breeched delivery. Yikes! That is NOT a normal Saturday night for me. But if anyone can do it, it’s Brook.
So there you have it folks – the lowdown on all my pregnant friends. Hopefully Austin you are reading this you punkbutt and will call me. The rest of you can marvel on how small the bellies are on Julia & Brook. To put it in perspective for you, I was over two months away from my due date in the first photo…and these girls are a little over ONE month away in the last photo. Why God WHY??!? Why did I have the sumo baby?!?

OMG! I was so surprised to see this post this morning. Was this a stockpiled post? hehe Anyhow, it really made my day. I know kind of weird since I don’t know any of y’all but I just loved that first picture of of everyone. I am due this Saturday! We do not know the gender and I was trying to look at all you gals and figure out how “I was carrying” compared to you girls. But obviously that isn’t going to work! All boys!!!! Wow you girls are going to have some fun playdates. I also am amazed at how different everyone’s size is. I am on the smaller side as well and some people (mostly strangers) say the meanest things.
Also a coincidence I live in CT. Where in CT did Austin move to? Email me or give Austin my email if she isn’t familar with the area and maybe we could get together or just chat abt being new moms (which I wish would arrive now for me)

Such a fun update! Thanks. You all look super great. And yeah for surprises! I think it’s great Brooke + Hubby will find out what they’re having when he/she is born. (Our first was a surprise, but we caved and found out for #2.)

That’s so weird you guys were all preggers at the same time! I hope that me and my bff are preggers at the same time. Even though she lives in Iowa and I live in New York, it’d be cool to go through it at the same time 🙂

Literally LMAO @ the ding dong comment

Beautiful ladies! Both of my pregnancies had a time where my babies were breech. My first corrected herself at about 36-37 weeks and I was induced because she was 11 days late. The second stayed breech and my doctor did an external version 12 days before her due date and it was successful, so I was induced right after that so she wouldn’t flip back around. That external version was quite an experience let me tell ya! Love your blog! Been following it for a while, but first time posting 🙂

This is for Julia: I had a friend whose unborn little girl was breech. She went and had massages to loosen up pelvic muscles (I think pelvic)…Anyways, she said it hurt like crazy, but it worked. The baby turned. I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this, but I thought I would throw it out there.

<3 you katie….I'll call you soon.

Your last friend is crazy. Why would anyone have a breeched birth that didn’t need to. That is endangering the baby’s life.
Laura A says
Don’t worry Katie- I have a sumo belly, too and I have 3 months to go yet! I’m pretty sure my pre-pregnancy pants are a joke, too, btw… it will take a lot more than 2 weeks!

Hey girl! I love your blog… I check it every day… kinda like a stalker. I totally don’t want to be one of those annoyingly negative commenting people, BUT you totally butchered the spelling of Connecticut. Or maybe it was intentional? Either way, thought I’d let you know. Keep up the good work 🙂
Katie says
Katie, as one Katie to another. Do not worry I was huge too and had a sumo baby on June 10th he was 10 1/2 lbs. Can you say thank you God for c-sections!!! His name is Gray.
Sarah says
Fun update! I have to know where Brook got her super cute blue dress with white bow in the update photo. Its darling!

This might be my first time commenting, but I read your blog ALL the time. My little one (five months now) was breech too, we did everything: chiropractic (Webster’s technique), moxibustion, ironing board with the frozen stuff on top and the light by the hoo-hoo, and an unsuccessful external version…so c-section for me, huge bummer! How nice that you have so much support in all those mamas!
Sarah says
I’m an avid reader, but this is also my first time commenting. I just have to know… Does your friend Brook live in Atlanta? If not, this is a really strange coincidence. I thought there could only be one Jewish man who vaginally delivers breeched babies: Dr. Tate? He’s all the rave among us Georgia ladies trying to keep things natural. Just curious… :o)
Lindsay says
Is your friend seeing Dr. Tate? He’s amazing! You should really look into seeing him if you decide to try for a VBAC with your next baby. He’s already my doctor and I’m not even pregnant yet. I can’t imagine delivering anyone else.
All that aside, “little Jewish man”? Really? Would you call a doctor an enormous Methodist? A tiny Baptist? LOL.
Katie says
Hi Sarah,
Brook does live here in Atlanta. And I have no idea what the name of her doctor is. Sorry. I will say this – Brook is hard core about delivering naturally…so you might be right!
Xo – katie
Katie says
Hi Lindsay,
Yes. I would actually. My pastor is a gigantic theologian. And I am a squishy Jersey peach 🙂

Great….now I want a baby even more now…
Off topic, but I was trying to get on your blog yesterday from a library computer and it blocked the site because it was “adult and mature content”. I never realized potty humor was mature.

Love the “where are they now” post! So fun to see how everyones lives have or are changing! And so fun you’re all experiencing this together.
Christine says
Oh how fun to be prego together! All you ladies look amazing. I’ve got to go convince some husbands to let their wives have babies…
