I’m squishing all the giveaways into one giant day (ahem…days?!) of glittering awesomeness. Are you ready for this jelly? This yummy jam is all for you….one day with many many freebies – so check back often to heavy breathe and eye fondle these goodies. I’m dubbing it the Giveaway Power Day…like the dance – it’s electric!
I’m weird. That’s kinda obvious. But sometimes I get a genius idea…at least it’s pretty Einstein in my book….and in college my big idea was to hotglue foil wrapped chocolates to the wall. I was my own version of Willy Wonka. Sortof like lickable wallpaper – except more hygenic. I have no idea what my roommate thought as I stood there with a giant bag of Hershey kisses and mini Reese’s Peanut Butter cups but I was so wrapped up in my own sweet idea (pun intended) that it didn’t matter. I gave myself a gold star for that one.
So you can imagine my joy when wall decals became more and more popular. Afterall, I am obviously a huge fan of sticking things on walls.

“Sticky Situation” First…you guys are awesomeness x5! We didnt quite “stick” anything to a wall but when we bought our house we were going to insulate and cover a cinderblock wall in the basement so during a huge birthday party we had the genius idea to let everyone graffiti the wall for some lucky homeowner to find if demo was in their plans!

sticky situation! in the first house i ever rented i stenciled a chinese symbol in gold all over the living room walls. it took FOREVER and is definitely a “what was i thinking?” moment now. that’s right, you can be jealous of my creativity now 🙂

Sticky Situation! The funniest thing I put on my wall was a Twisted Sister sticker. I was about 4 but my older sister listened to them so I thought at the time it was a great idea. Mind you, the lead singer was eating a giant bone with blood on it on the sticker… not the most appropriate thing for a 4 year old.

I thought it was totally cool to put up posters of my states Super bowl win when I was in middle school even though I didn’t really watch football much. That was back when this little known guy named Brett Farve (sarcasm much?) was -get this- a Hero.

Caitlin @ Hardly Housewives says
Sticky Situation – I took (stole? stole.) one of the “watch the gap” stickers from the subway when I was a teenager. Then I stuck it onto my bedroom window. My new, expensive bedroom window in the house my parents had just renovated. My parents JUST managed to get all of it off recently. I don’t mention it around them because they’re still pretty ticked. I was a jerk,

When I was a teenager, I had a pretty big bedroom, and one entire wall was completely plastered with pictures from magazines. Mostly of attractive men, but some just cool pictures. There wasn’t even a centimeter of wall space visible. I wish I had a picture of it now because I think it was pretty impressive. 🙂

Sticky Situation- my wife thought it would be a good idea to hang bright cheapo streamers all over our white patio the night before an outdoor party, and then it rained causing the colors to stain our patio walls and the siding on the house. Hey Katie,
I love, love, love your blog and read it daily…hope I did this right.
The funniest thing I ever stuck on my wall happened when I was about 2 years old. My Mother was changing my sisters diaper one day and heard a little voice coming from the bathroom. Apparently, I went through the cupboard under the sink and pulled out all of her pads. By the time she found me, I had them stuck to everything….the toilet, the bathtub, the walls….myself. She said it was one of those moments where all she could do was laugh instead of cry.
Picture a woman….22 years old married with two kids (ages 2 and newborn).
Hope that made you giggle….I know I did when she told me 🙂

”Sticky Situation” Funniest thing I’ve ever stuck on the wall would have to be spaghetti noodles. Someone told me once that if it sticks to the wall, it’s done. Can’t remember if it was true or not, but I will never forget throwing noodles at the wall to test it out!
Hope your baby visit went well yesterday – can’t wait to hear more about baby Bower!
Cheryl says
The most original thing I have ever “stuck” on my walls, is I used an outdoor metal trellis as wall art. I painted it ORB and stuck it on the wall. Oh, and I used to be obsessed with sponge painting! 😉 Fortunately, that has passed!

One of my favorite memories growing up is my dad throwing a piece of spaghetti against the wall to see if it sticks… supposedly that means it’s done, but he could have just been doing it to make us kids laugh. Either way, it worked! 🙂

When I was little, I used to pick my boogers and ear wax, and stick those to the wall behind my bed. When we tore down the old house and built the new, Mom said she was thankful she didn’t have to scrape 8 years of ick from the walls!

Sticky Situation! I can’t think of anything funny I’ve stuck on the walls but the kids were very proud to show me their art project once. Which was spaghetti noodles stuck all over the kitchen wall, last time I try to shower while they eat lunch!
Tina says
Sticky Situation!!! I’m so boring, I can’t think of anything funny I’ve stuck to the wall. Just stuff I’ve taken off (wallpaper, baby barf, marker, crayons, stickers, etc. that kids help with). And then I’ve painted and hung the really normal things. I’m kind of sad at myself! 🙂 BUT, thanks to some rearranging, I have a HUGE blank wall in our living room (used to have a TV cabinet there) and now I’m trying to think of ideas to fill it, I like this contest! 🙂
Lynn says
‘Sticky situation’!!! Oh my gosh this couldnt be more perfect timing. Just this AM I had to clean purple lollipop goo of my daughters wall. My MIL gave her a little light up fan toy that unbeknownst to me had a lollipop in the handle. Thanks Mom! 🙂 So when left alone with it she ate/smeared/crushed and stuck pieces on her wall. Good times at 6 30 am…good times. 🙂

Sticky Situation!
We have a small square black side table (like an Ikea LACK, only I think ours came from Target.) We took the legs off so it’s just a thick black square, and we were going to paint it green. My husband put one long swipe of bright green paint along it, to see what the color would look like, and we loved the look of just that one swipe, that we hung the whole thing on our wall in the bedroom. Boom! Art. Done.
ps – my apologies if this posts twice, I got an error the first time I tried!
Dana K says
Sticky Situation! I don’t know if I have ever put anything weird on my walls! I guess I better get started!
Emily F. says
Sticky Situation…My husband’s love for sports memorabilia has led us to having not one, but two framed football pennants in the living room. Their only saving grace is that they’re from 1954 and 1956 Rose Bowls and back then, the artwork on them was pretty cool!

River rock. It looked good, but man did it take forever to do! And then we sold the house (of course), and I don’t have the patience to do it again in our new, much larger house.

“sticky situation” I usually am trying to un-stick my walls from pbj hands and boogies! I haven’t been very creative just the usual pictures and shelves!
Cathy says
Sticky Situation: In college. my best friend and I were and we loved sticking weird things on our walls. We stuck New Kids on the Block trading cards all around the door frame to our closet. But I think the weirdest thing was the picture I put on the ceiling above my bed. It was the “Got Milk Ad” with the youngest Hanson brother wearing a milk mustache. I thought it was just so ridiculous! You should have seen the looks on people’s faces when they saw him hanging over my bed. It was hilarious!

Oh my, this reminded me of a crazy thing I did when I was about 7 years old or so.. I was having a friend over, so I got it in my head we were going to have a “party” in my room. So to prepare, I drew a bunch of pictures on that brownish/grayish lined paper that is used when you’re first learning to write (with the blue solid lines and red dashed lines down the middle to help distinguish upper vs. lower case letters). I specifically remember one picture saying “Lets pig out” with some pictures of pigs (which I’m sure were awful renderings). Anyway, I made all these ridiculous signs, and then GLUED them to the walls in my room! I tried to take them down later, but of course anywhere there was glue, the paper stuck. And it stayed that way until we repainted my room YEARS later, because my parent’s didn’t want to mess with it (don’t blame them, as it would lead to re-painting anyway). Ahh… childhood. lol.
Megan says
Sticky Situation… the funnest thing I’ve ever stuck on my wall would be a huge, giant mirror!
Naomi S says
”Sticky Situation” When I was younger, I used finger nail polish instead of thumbtacks or nails to hang pictures on my bedroom wall.

”Sticky Situation” I don’t know about funny… obsessed maybe. I COVERED every square inch of wall space in my tweenage room with NSYNC and Backstreet Boys posters. Thought I had the COOLEST wallpaper ever!

Sticky situation! I have always loved decorating, and when I was in the 2nd grade, I took a bunch of gift bags with teddy bears wearing lacy outfits and taped them to my walls. I thought it was so chic until my older sister walked in and told me it looked like a Hallmark store.

My husband and i went on a cruise and ported at Dominican Republic and I was browsing there street markets and came across this beautiful painting,…..it was rolled up and i unrolled it horizontal and thought it had the most beautiful abstract figures and colors that would look awesome in our living room. So I purchased the painting and took it home and had Michaels stretch it out on wood! I was so excited to pick it up and hang it on my walls. I got the call it was ready and dashed in my car to get it. I walked up to the counter and said my name and i was here to get my painting. He handed this large stretched canvas over and it appered to have a woman and extemely large mans body part!!! I was horrified and embarrased. Lets just say X rated!! It is always a conversation piece at my house!!

Sticky Situation! My 7 year old son loves to put everything on his wall- nothing is too trashy to be art. Lately, it’s the package a hot wheels truck came in.
Sarah J. says
Sticky Situation…The oddest thing I’ve ever stuck on my wall was chalkboard contact paper over ugly ivy wallpaper in a rental. We were only living there 6 months, so I tested it and thought, this is great since it comes right off. Well, it did come right off the main wall’s paper, but the border at the top ripped right off with the contact paper when we removed it. Then I got to learn how to apply a new ivy-themed border, which the landlord never mentioned that they noticed as different.
Dee says
Sticky Situation- I bought a Leonardo DiCaprio calendar one year and tore out each month and stuck them up on my wall. I cringe when I think about it now.

When I was in high school my friends and I would go to this music club to see underground bands play. We would get those paper wrist bands instead of tickets to go in and we would wear then for weeks and weeks as a sort of badge to show how cool/how many shows we’ve been to until they literally fell off. After they would fall off I would take the nasty worn out and faded wrist band and tape them to the wall of my bedroom.
Yeah…I was that cool.
I actually still have some of them in a scrapbook. lol.

Growing up, I shared a room with my older sister. She took me to McDonald’s one night and one of the staffers was taking down a bunch of promo signs that were hanging from the ceiling. She asked what they planned to do with them and they said they were tossing them. She asked if we could take them and they handed them over. We went home and pinned the signs all over our bedroom walls: ‘Special Sauce’ was one that I vividly remember being repeated on one wall. Of course we thought we were so cool.

I don’t think I’ve stuck anything too out of the ordinary to my walls….I was always tempted to try the fabric in starch trick as wallpaper when I was a renter, but never quite got that far.

When I was a teen I plastered anything and everything I could find onto my bedroom walls. It was a mess. Walking into my room could have given someone a seizure.
Carla says
Sticky situation…. my two yr old son once stuck a dirty diaper to the wall, I have a feeling these would look (and smell) much nicer!
Meghan Brooks says

One time we tried to duct (duck??) tape my friend to the wall 🙂

Sticky Situation! In college there was a girl on my hall who had a pencil collection and we taped all of her pencils to her door one day while she was in class. It was funny at the time…now not so much.
Ooooh, same girl, different story. We filled her room with wadded up newspapers. We saved newspapers for an entire year and then stuffed her room floor to ceiling with newspaper while she was out one day. You could see nothing but newspaper! (We liked her, really we did. We just had a strange way of showing it.)
I love wall decals…and they’re much easier to remove (or clean up) than a 12×12 room stuffed to the max with newspaper. Have a great weekend!

I haven’t really stuck anything funny to my walls but, in high school, I painted my bedroom purple and turquoise. Six years ago, when I moved out of the house, two of my teenage brothers moved into my old bedroom. To this day, it’s still purple and turquoise.
jessica says
Sticky Situation.
In high school, I made a border around my room with Got Milk ads. Then it grew from there into an entire collage on one wall with pictures and mementos from various experiences. My mom was in tears when I took it down.
Alyssa says
Sticky situation……I once covered an entire wall in my bedroom with posters from tiger beat and bop magazines of Jonathan Taylor Thomas! Then my friend and I made a string of starburst wrappers and strung them from push pin to push pin in front of JTT! That was middle school…oh the priorities we had back then!! Lol
Megan Cook says
Sticky Situation. Umm, in a desperate attempt to get organize and finish unfinished products, I once wrote out every thing that I wanted to get done in each room of my house on a sticky note and put each sticky note on a wall in the corresponding room. They stayed up in the rooms as wall decor for about one month (embarassing!), and most things did not get done.

Katy Widrick says
My “Sticky Situation” comes from when I was a child and put Garbage Pail stickers all.over.the.walls. And my bed. And my toys.
At 10 or so, I thought it was awesome. At 12, when I couldn’t get them off and wanted to have my friends over? Shudder.
I’d love to win because I’m working on the nursery for my FIRST baby!

I haven’t stuck anything odd or weird to my walls…but my nephew did take a hammer to one of my walls and knocked several “dents/holes” into it that I kept saying I have to fix those….so for 10 years I “fixed” it by hanging/sticking a picture over them…but I finally really fixed them this past fall….and man it was such an improvement!!
Ashleigh says

Susan says
Months after my 5 year old neice visited my mom’s house we found a huge mess of yellow yarn (used to make rapunzel hair) taped to the sliding glass door. It looked like pasta at first and we were very scared, but it turned out to just be yarn. I can’t help thinking we are gonna find more suprises as the months pass! PS I have been looking for underwater/sea themed decals for weeks for our baby’s nursery and I love the one from Evgie! I’m getting it no matter if I win or not!

Ang says
Sticky situation… As a teenager, I wallpapered my bedroom walls (and maybe some ceiling too) with pictures and clippings of Hanson, the Backstreet Boys and *NSync. All with that blue Poster Tack stuff, so it took quite a bit of maintenance to keep my epic collage intact. 😉

I don’t know the technical name for it, but my first hardware trip with dad when I was younger had me hooked on all the cool things they had. I had him buy me some little electrical switch, it was a ceramic square with a toggle – it looked like something that would be found in Frankensteins lab 🙂
I screwed it to the wall in the bathroom – don’t ask me why…………
I wonder how many people ever flipped it just to see what would happen 🙂
I still have that little memory switch in a box.

Sticky Situation – Why is it that we felt the need to express ourselves the way we did in college? Yes, I used to collect Abercrombie and Fitch bags (back when they were still a bit preppy but with a few unshirted guys) and my college roommate and I had enough to wallpaper our dorm room. It raised a few eyebrows since we attended a very modest/strict Christian college. HA. We didn’t care!

Sticky Situation…. The funniest thing ever stuck to my walls, was not done by me, but by my son. I had left him in his crib for a few minutes after his nap as I was finishing up a project. I can’t even remember what project at this point! He needed t diaper change and had a very full diaper at this point.
Needless to say I walked into some very interesting, creative, and stinky wall art. My creative son had decided to finger paint on the walls. He was immensely proud of himself and I was torn between wanting to laugh at his expression and his ingenuity… and run out of the room for lysol and paper towels. I did both!
We learned an important lesson that day about toddlers who can get their own diaper off and he learned to only paint with “mom approved” paint.

Sticky Situation. Not the walls, but my brother and I used to butter bread and throw it on the ceiling. We would see how long it would stick! And sometimes, our parents would walk in the room and had NO idea!
Carolyn says
Sticky Situation! My mom forbade hanging anything on the wall growing up, so I was never too adventurous. But when I was 4 or so I wrote the alphabet down the main hallway in purple crayon and signed my name at the end. I’m sure my mom appreciated that.
Goga says
What a timely giveaway! I’m looking for a tree decal for my baby girl’s nursery.
My mom was not fond of us kids sticking anything on bright white walls in our rooms… so I got around it by gluing a whole bunch of random magazine “art” on a wooden armoire.
Needless to say, she was not happy once they had to come down and we had a “Sticky Situation.” Now, I love seeing that piece of furniture when I go home and we both laugh about it. 🙂

Sticky situation! In junior high I wall-papered one wall of my room with cut-outs of the Backstreet Boys and the other big-name stars of the era. Absolute insanity.
I also had a Student of the Month plaque that I won in junior high. I was SO proud of it I stuck it to the wall with two loooong strips of mounting tape. That thing stayed up solidly on that wall until two years ago, when my parents turned my room into the guest room! I have no clue what kind of damage it caused coming down, but looks like my dad was able to handle it!

Sticky situation: apparently when I was a child I chewed a lot of gum (this I do not remember), so when the time came for bed, I collected the gum in a very specific place in my room. Right on the wall and carpet (sorry mom) was my gum collection (unfortunately I do remember this part). Sigh. I hope my future kiddos aren’t as mean to the carpet and walls.

Sticky Situation! We glued tissue paper to the walls to hide how uneven they were when I helped my mom paint last summer. Pamela @ Pink Hammers & Sippy Cups says
STICKY SITUATION! My boyfriend and I once had a noodle throwing contest; when spaghetti is fully cooked it will stick to the wall. Well we decided to leave the one noodle that stuck on our kitchen wall for about a month or two. When I finally decided it was time for that crusty ol noodle to come down it took the paint with it and we now have a squiggly mark on our wall! Good thing we are wanting to repaint our kitchen anyway! Hahahaha

I wish I could say it was intentionally placed with some great artistic design on the walls but no. It’s not a painted footprint. It’s a good ‘ole WalMart-feet dirty footprint! Sticky Situation! I’m kind of boring and conservative, so I haven’t had anything particularly odd on my walls. Jenny says
Sticky Situation… We used to put all sorts of posters on our walls with sticky tack when we were kids which isn’t weird on it’s own but one time I swore it fell right off my wall and landed in my eye. I used to stick everything to my walls when I was younger. Literally. Sure there were posters and the usual stuff, but I’d rip stuff out of magazines, tape a cute candy wrapper to my wall, really anything was fair game. I had a good collection going on fortune cookie fortunes at one point as well . . . all on the wall. My room looked like a mental patient lived there.

Since I wasn’t allowed to have anything on my walls as a kid, my home “office” as an adult has always had the walls filled will everything – ticket stubs, memorabilia, magazine articles, pictures, work post-its with reminders, receipts from tattoos – anything I had any fond memories or chuckles of! Last move left me with a huge Sticky Situation trying to get it and the adhesive all off the walls – not so easy when it’s been up for over 4 years!

Which is not boogers, haha, but instead a delightful butterfly crafted by my 3 year old, because she wrote her name repeatedly all over the paper before folding it into a butterfly shape. My parents let me pick my wall color when I was younger but stood firm on that decision and didn’t let me repaint it every time I wanted (read: once a week). I settled for cutting out things from magazines and taping them to my walls. A lot of it was fun sayings but there were also a lot of those TRUTH anti smoking ads that are kind of morose. For example, a picture of a birthday cake and the words “you can’t blow out the candles on your birthday cake if you have lung cancer” or something like that. Kind of odd decorations for a teen.

Every couple of months I would rearrange them or add new/take down old ones. I loved being surrounded by all my favorite peeps 🙂
As it is now, my hubby and I have lived in our house for a little over a year and except for one mirror and one clock, NOTHING has made it onto the walls. I’m just finishing nursing school, I blame the homework 🙂
