Probably like 99.9% of America, I have gotten 87 emails reminding me that Target has a couple new clothing collaborations out….A New Day for women and Goodfellow & Co for men. Obviously as a responsible email account owner, I felt it was my responsibility to inspect the items they released….for the benefit of all mankind. I am nothing if not completely generous and online shopping is such a tragic sacrifice that I am willing to make….for you. Not for any personal reasons. Nope. Never. Because getting to shop in normal non-maternity clothing has lost its flavor for me. I mean….who would want all those options?! So many textures, patterns, silhouettes and affordable options.
But let’s move on and just see what they got….for you guys and your itty bitty waistlines….not that I’m jealous…..or buying for future slimmer months ahead….

Personally I think that A New Day rocks out the dresses. The different options have several color choices and flattering silhouettes and they have lots of them available in plus sizes. I like dresses with simple details so this is right up my alley. Lots of them are higher necklines (WAHOO!) so you can wear them to work and jazz them up with statement necklaces for date night.
I also really like the ponte dresses and the shirt dresses – the versatility and wear of these are favorites. ALSO – thank goodness they are available in good color options….I personally like these brighter colors (green, denim, gray, red, etc.) because they make me look more alive! So bravo on the dresses. Thinking about ordering a lot of those shirt dresses because they are super nursing friendly….which I will be doing a lot of soon 🙂
Tops – especially ones with little details like bell sleeves and delicate textures are part of this collection and I’m into it. I think in generally most of their tops fall into two categories – workwear and weekend wear. It’s a good mix of lighter fabrics and cuts for transition between summer and fall and THANK GOODNESS. I’m not gonna be wearing sweaters for a while with this Georgia heat so having some lighter options are great.
T-shirts are generally one area that I am sorta snobby about. It makes a difference in real life….having a good tshirt. And I’m totally digging the subtlety of these designs….like a tshirt is good if it’s soft, affordable, long enough, has a well cut neckline and can play well with others (like a chambray shirt layered over it). These ones seem to fit that bill and I’m excited to try them! I especially like that striped short sleeved betty that is a dead ringer for the more expensive version from JCrew.
Digging their clutches and small bags. I especially like that golden little clutch. How cute for holiday parties and dressing up a little black dress! It would be like the sprinkles on the cupcake 🙂
Layer weather is coming people and A New Day showed some real pizzazz in good layering options….I love that they are offering some really inexpensive versions of favorites. I have seen lookalikes to that camo jacket and the utility vest and both seem like the thing you would throw on over boyfriend jeans and a comfy t and they would instantly pull an outfit together.
Random picks is my last category and I love each of these things for different reasons. First – that tank looks so luxe and is totally affordable and would be perfect for under a comfy long line cardigan. The silky fabric would be a chic match for a nubby sweater! Second – that plaid red and black draped sweater would hide ALL the bumps….McDonalds, Wendys and that healthy 12″ sub sandwich that somehow turned into a 1700 calorie brisket with extra cheese? Yup….even that one. Bring on the bonfires and the smores – you can hide them! A velvety burnout kimono is like the extra sassy way to dress up for any occasion. It says I got style….even if it’s layered over jeans and a tee. And lastly that little stretchy waisted skirt is a dead ringer for one of my all time favorite skirts – but with a little extra personality. I wear these all the time with graphic tshirts and even a denim shirt tucked in. Its just preppy enough….just tailored enough….just comfy enough….it’s just all the things just enough.
Moving on to the guys! Jeremy is even pickier than me when it comes to clothing and he tends to reject things before even trying them on….so I totally plan on getting some items and saying they are Goodfellow & CO and not Target. Sorry Tahr-jay – but my boyfriend can be a real brand snob.
So when it comes to tops, Jeremy is not a slim fit anymore….he’s a 40 year old man with a strong back and giant forearms. Comfort and cut is everything for him. If it is 1/2″ too short or long or the neckline isn’t just right….there isn’t any convincing him that something looks good. And his shirts and style sometimes can’t compromise….aka he can’t find stuff that he likes that isn’t cut for a slimmer dude. I’m excited to show him these tops because I think they are made of the right comfy materials and the cuts look good!
Jeremy is also always hunting for items that aren’t too heavy….I say that he is a hot tamale because he literally is always complaining of the temperature (also because dude is just plain attractive! ha!) and the hardest finds are simple age appropriate jackets and long sleeved tops that are plain and comfy and are able to dress up or down for winter months. I will never see him in a scarf….I’ve come to accept that fact! So until the ice age comes back, I will just find fleece jackets and flattering thermals for him in a variety of colors. Also – that bag. I mean…it would be such an improvement over his 1998 gym bag that is falling apart at the seams that he uses for overnight trips.
Okay – so those are my picks for the new Target lines – it was fun to dream and shop and if you hear of any new collaborations coming out….I’d love to hear those! I mean…I can’t be pregnant forever…..RIGHT!?

Whoa… Is that Jon Snow modeling for Tar-jay? Or just his preppier, no-black-wearin’ twin?!?!?!

I just bought the black and white cardigan this morning! I was on the fence about it, but considering the price and that there were only 4 left in the store, I didn’t want ANY purchase FOMO. 😉
