This is one ridiculous post. Just warning you.
I was looking through old photos. Photos from our dating days…back when we were youthful and well-rested and still could name top forty songs, remember our middle names and had time for things like eating. Jeremy had his own apartment close to my parents house (where I lived post-college) and we spent a lot of time there…doing really important things…things with meaning and life-changing results.
I’m just gonna call it….we were weird.
I had a wild hair to switch things up with do…
And yes…this ‘everything blog’ just stepped into hair coloring.
My sister came over because I wanted to take my normally brown hair and do one of those ‘wash-out-in-23-washes’ kits to make it more red.
We joked that the bath tub looked like a murder scene and considered reenacting things like something out of a gore-movie. If cell phones took pictures back then, we probably would have instagrammed it. Oh how things have changed 🙂
And we are done.
Or maybe not…
Just consider me laughing my head off at this series of photos…
I love this man. I love this man so freaking much. And I am apologizing honey for putting this on the internet.
The next day, he dyed his ‘homemade highlights’ back to the normal color.
And my hair stylist dreams were crushed 🙂

I love this post! Thanks for sharing!

Haha, we did the exact same but at my high school boyfriends parents house. His mom came back before we cleaned the bathtub and thought someone was seriously hurt/dead.

Your man looks so so so baby faced there!
After trying and failing a lot at at home hair dye kits I finally found the one… and it’s a drastic red! I’ve been having fun with it 🙂

Thank you – some days you just need a little light-hearted laugh! Your boyfriend is such a good sport! 😉
Brenda says
Oh my, Jeremy is a good sport! I am SO glad you shared these! I’m a big fan of the red-that-washes-out-in-a-month-or-two kind of dye job.

I just died over the pic of Jeremy with the cap on. That is true love!

My favorite are the stickers in the shape of a heart on your mirror 🙂

OMG this is hilarious 🙂 I just finished watching some old video posts by you and Sherry (slow day at work). Thanks for making my day.
Kristin @ Little Corbin Hill says
Yes, I laughed out loud at the pic where he’s in the cap, lol! Now, I need to get off Bloglovin’ and get back to work 😉
Lori says
I’m dying over here. What a sweetheart your boyfriend is to let you do that… and this, for that matter!
Melissa Ricci says
Hahahaha I LOVE this post!! Hilarious. Did the dye color your sisters legs? I dyed my sisters hair blue once and did the same thing and up to my knees were blue. And I think Jer should have kept the highlights. He looked like a member of LFO (whoa, major high school flash back)
Isn’t it fun to look back on the simple days before kids? I wont lie…I love whenever my MIL babysits and I get to sit on the couch and do nothing.

Heather {A Fire Pole in the Dining Room} says
Hahaha! I can’t believe he let you 1) Do that 2) Take pictures and 3) Post them. Hilarious!
Emily says
Love this post, Katie! 🙂
MissCaron says
This. Is. Hilarious. What a good sport, Jeremy is, for allowing you to place those photos online. I actually need to get my highlights touched up and just can’t afford it so was thinking about doing one of those box wash-out things. I’m restraining myself but I don’t know how long I’ll last…
Emily @ My Love for Words says
Hysterical!! I love your posts. Just last week I read your “What was in my car” post to my mom. Too funny! 🙂
Amy says
Oh my stars. Poor Jeremy.
Abby says
I just unpacked a few boxes and found old photos. So fun!
When do we get to hear more about Baby Bower #3? Did you end up taking weekly pics of your pregnancy with Weston (I remember seeing some somewhere, but not the rest of the series). Are you doing something like that this time? I am dreaming of a #2, and somehow reading about your pregnancy lets me live vicariously through you.
Sarah E. says
Jeremy gets brownie points for this one!!!! Awesome!!!!
Angela says
You go girl! I did a similar thing, only it was a mud mask. Man says, “don’t tell anybody I did this”, I say, “of course not” then promptly go and get my camera, line him up outside the bathroom door and then call his name ‘click’. Then I scrap booked that picture for all eternity. That guy is now my husband, love him!!
Sherri says
I didn’t have a good day at work and was out of sorts for various reasons. When I saw that series of pictures of Jeremy, I definitely laughed out loud. You lifted my spirits, thanks to your hubby being a good sport! Loved this post, Katie- you crazy girl you!!
Katie says
Yes and no. I am doing a series of photos but they are probably gonna be mostly for my own personal use. I personally just want to be aware of the masses of women out there that are struggling. So I probably will do an update but not talk about the pregnancy all the time like I would to real-life friends just simply out of respect.

Katie says
Yes it did! I had forgotten about that! so funny!

What a funny post- he is such a good sport! Love it!
Nicole says
I have to be totally honest here. I am one of those women who is struggling and I have appreciated you being aware and sensitive to those who don’t get pregnant as easily as you do (3 babies in less than 4 years, my dream!). But don’t say you are not posting anything about your pregnancy to be sensitive and then flood your blog with day after day of baby clothes recommendations. Just doesn’t make sense. Write about your pregnancy, write about baby clothes, it’s your blog! But don’t say you’re not sharing just to be sensitive to people like me who are struggling, otherwise you’d have to alter your blog in many other ways. It’s going to be impossible to shield every woman struggling with infertility from any hurt or pain, we are already living it daily whether you show a picture of your bump or not. We know you are pregnant. Not further acknowledging you are pregnant doesn’t protect us from anything. It’s usually the initial sting of hearing someone is pregnant that is the hardest. So, share or don’t share for whatever reasons you have, but please don’t say you’re doing it for people like me. Just don’t complain about being pregnant or complain about getting pregnant so quickly, that’s the best you can do. But don’t not share in some ways and over share in other ways and use us as a justification; it just doesn’t make sense. It’s not like we are in a room with you and you won’t shut up about being pregnant, I can simply choose not to read if a post causes me pain in any way. Also – what changed from when you were pregnant with Weston? Why now are you saying you don’t want to share?
P.S. I am going for my frozen embryo transfer on Friday so please send lots of good vibes my way!!
P.P.S Submitted my first comment by accident before I was finished, sorry about that!

OMG. Hysterical. Jeremy is a good sport!
Paige @ Little Nostalgia says
Ha! My husband used to have blonde highlights, too! Except he got them on purpose and kept them for a couple of years. Oh, the mind of an 18 year old…
I had some hair dying adventures myself. When I was 20, I decided to be Cruella DeVille for Halloween. So I bleached half of my head and dyed the other side black. It was AWESOME. I left it that way for a couple of months. Too bad I’m in my late 20s with a real person job now, or I’d totally do it again.
Reenie says
I was going to ask the same thing about your sister’s legs. 😮
Cute/funny pics!! 🙂
Heidi says
Buwhahahahah! Glad he took this like a champ and put up with the red for 24 hours. I don’t know if my hubs would even last that long.

This is an interesting conversation…and I think that it has a million different angles because there are a million different people. For me, I guess I drew the line at pregnancy (not necessarily kids)…I’ve always blogged about kid clothes and kids, even before I had my own…so that is why. Some of my friends who have struggled (and myself when I wanted to be pregnant and wasn’t) it stung a lot more to see pregnant girls or hear about the pregnancy whereas stories of people’s kids don’t bother as much. I think that the way we think of it is…we don’t want other people’s kids…we want our own…but we want to be in the same ‘state’ as other’s. Of course, I respect your position but this is my reasoning. As for your question about what happened with Weston…I was very limited on what I shared at that point (as compared to what I shared with Will)…because of the same reason but I think people asked a lot more questions because they were personally invested in my struggle and wanted to know more info. I will be definitely sharing in the future…but every week I get requests to share stuff…pictures, updates, symptoms, etc…and personally I just feel like it would be rubbing salt in wounds…so I will be limiting it. And I am totally gonna be praying for you! What an exciting day!

You are very brave because as for me, I am always afraid to dye my hair at home. I am always aware that if something goes wrong, the color of hair and the hair itself will be really spoiled that is why I prefer to go to the specialist.
Nicole says
Thanks for your response. I didn’t feel right this morning after sending what I said… I wasn’t trying to be hard on you, so I hope you didn’t take it that way. I also feel like I jabbed you a little when I shouldn’t have about getting pregnant easily. I know a year is a long time to wait for a baby and I shouldn’t invalidate that time you waited for Weston. I would hope now looking back though, that you feel extremely fortunate about the way your family is unfolding and that you will have three babies in four years and no miscarriages. I hope so much that one day I will have a positive perspective on this time. That I will look back on this struggle but look at the kids I have and know it’s worth it. I’m just not there yet, we don’t have any kids yet. And sixteen months and an early miscarriage are beating me down. I’m so anxious this week leading up to this transfer, it just feels like there’s so much that can still go wrong. You are right about kids being easier than pregnant women. My sister in law just gave birth and the moment he was born I felt such a huge relief that she wasn’t pregnant anymore. And I love my nephew to death and am so happy he is here. I’m stop rambling now. I completely understand and agree with what you just posted and I know there are multiple perspectives. One things for sure – I know the majority of feelings and thoughts I have these days aren’t rational!!! Infertility will do that to a girl. I hope to be on the other side soon.

Katie, I respect your decision to limit what you share. I hope you will still update us soon on some of the details like how far along you are, when you find out the sex, some belly pics etc. It’s an exciting time!
