My mom has a photo of her and my aunt when they were both pregnant at the same time. That was in 1985.
For whatever reason, I thought that was something sisters did…they had to take pictures together when knocked up. So back when I was pregnant with Weston, I insisted that my sis Nornie take some pics with me. I wanted to post them here but she wanted me to wait on spilling the beans about her pregnancy. That’s why I actually had Weston and waited to share his birth story for so long….because she was a little part of his arrival story….at least her passing out in the hospital room was memorable 🙂
The great news is, we actually have two of these photos….
YUP! She has a bun in the oven! And is due this August! Can you tell I am just REEMING with excitement? Because I am….like in a completely awkward and obvious way. Like I baby talk four inches away from her flat belly in public in the loudest possible voice with no shame. And I used to grab her by the hips, spread my legs wide and dramatically rub my baby belly all over hers shouting “baby playdate!”.
The way the crazy happened was that neither of us got pregnant right away trying for our second kiddos but with our thirds it was like something was in the water. (and I’m not talking hot tub pregnancies) We each were due with our third little ones only 15 months from our second. She (and her husband Boots) shared the good news at Christmas (they had just found out they were pregnant) and so I have been anxiously unable to sit still, twiddling my thumbs, and begging her to let me share it with the world for a while now. I almost died of impatience. Waiting isn’t my forte.
How’s that for an awkward family photo?!
My face can barely hold that smile. Norn is much more even keeled than I am so it’s no wonder that my excitement makes her give me that look. I’m basically a dog that is entirely too excited to chase a squirrel.
Now I can barely wait to know what the little bun in the oven is….yup…since this is most likely their last baby, they decided to switch things up and keep it a mystery. Last time they found out at 20 weeks but this time even they don’t know the sex of the munchkin! I love that idea…waiting to find out on your last baby so that you have that “IT’s A______!!!” moment in the delivery room. I know some people wait to share the sex, some wait to share the name, some don’t wait for anything, some wait on everything. I’m crossing my fingers for a girl for them….because, let’s be honest, I need to shop for a girl. And tutu’s and headbands and sparkly shoes just don’t look right on my boys (although LJ’s hair does look good with accessories!) And because we just have way too much testosterone during Nana Camp. Either way – Nornie asked that we all pray for a healthy pregnancy and easy delivery (they are currently in the middle of moving so that’s stressful!).
CONGRATULATIONS YOU GUYS! I can’t wait to snuggle your little one…you know, because I WANT ALL THE BABIES!

Congratulations, Nornie! Are they moving far away, or will they still be close enough to have lots of cousin playdates?

How exciting! I love that you have little “playdates.” She seems quiet and reminds me of my bff [named katie]!

That’s wonderful news! I’m in a similar spot. I have two Sister-in-laws, one who had her second (boy) on her due date of Jan. 29, I’m due at the end of June, then the other SIL is due in September! Three babies all within 8 months! On top of that, my sister is also due in September! So FOUR babies in 8 months! Pretty amazing!

These pictures are so funny. My sisters are way older than me so there was never a “pregnant sisters” pic. I can’t wait to find out more!

Congratulations Norn!!! That’s so exciting. These pictures crack me up. I’m with you Katie…often waaaay more excited than the person who is the subject of excitement lol.

That is so fun! My sister is 13 years younger than me, so even though it took us 8 years to conceive (I’m due in October), she still just barely turned 18 so I don’t think there will be any sister pregnancy pics! Hehe! She feels more like a daughter to me, especially since our mom has had health problems since my sister was born and I helped with her and my brother (almost 12 years younger than me) a lot. We are still incredibly close despite the age gap, but it’s so different from how I imagine your relationship with your sister is! Praying for Norn!

The picture of you two smiling at each other made me tear up a little. I’m currently expecting (bet you didn’t make that connection :)). My sister and her husband are adamant about remaining doggy parents FO’ LIFE, and while I’m totally respectful of her choice, a small part of me wishes we could have that sisters-pregnant-together experience. So I’m a little jealous 🙂

Congratulations Nornie!! SO EXCITING!

1. Having a sister must be so freaking awesome! I am jealous.
2. My second/last baby I didn’t know the sex and my birth plan said that I wanted to look for myself instead of anyone else announcing the sex to me. Of course, after the baby was born (on a stretcher, in the triage room, before my midwife arrived, before they got a chance to even check me into the hospital…) I totally forgot to look! But my husband didn’t forget! While I was holding the baby, he looked into my eyes and said “it’s a girl!”. It’s a moment I’ll never forget and my top lifetime memory. But man those 9 months of not knowing almost killed me!
Prayers for a safe delivery of a healthy baby for your sister.

They are moving in their same school district so they will still be close 🙂

Congratulations!! I wish I had someone close to me pregnant at the same time – it’d be wonderful to share all the great and tough times with. Not to mention the baby playdates!! I’m due in October, so apparently all us pregnant mommas are coming out of the woodworks.

Oh! YAY! Too much fun! I love Nornie like my sister, you know, because I love you like my sister! Ha. In a totally not weird, I don’t even know you, you don’t even know me, kinda love way! (I know you understand) Anywaaaay, Congrats ! Everybody! Baby news is always so exciting! I know you have said before that Norn is the Earth Mother Protector of babies, but when the time is right, please share the news! I’m so excited for your family, growing times are going to be so much fun with all those cousins and love!! Congratulations again…!! xx

My mom announced her pregnancy with my brother and a month later her sister Laura announced her own. Then two years later, my mom announced again, and a month later Aunt Laura announced. Then a year later, my mom announced and yet again, Aunt Laura announced a month later. Then two years later my mom got a call from her sister because she was pregnant again but waiting for my mom to announce first!

My sister-in-law and I were pregnant at the same time and our babies were just 5 days apart! They were the first babies on that side of the family so my MIL was just beside her self. She felt like she was getting twin grandsons, hahaha. When they announced they were pregnant we knew we were too and almost spilled the beans at the same time but we didn’t want to steal their joy. So much fun having 2 boys the same age.

I have a friend who is one of a set of girl triplets. All three of them are pregnant together! I’m going to ask her to take a pregnant sisters pic!
Katie says
Well, Clay and the next baby are gonna be 15 months apart (just like Weston and LJ) so that’s 6 months, right? I just am so excited that there are so many little ones so close together!
