DISCLAIMER: This is a sponsored post brought to you by Nordstrom Rack. The opinions are 100% my own.
Lately I have been in a real funk clothing-wise. I walk into the closet and all I see is maternity clothing and plain shirts. REALLY plain shirts. Think plain gray t-shirt. And not a cute one with a flattering neckline and pretty drape to it. This is a shirt that I wouldn’t mind working in, painting in or seeing in the bottom of the trash can (hey, things end up in the garbage can and toilet and air conditioning vents when you have a one year old on the loose).
I’ve been craving some change. And not like Adam Levine kind of change. Dude looks like Gwyneth Paltrow with a two day stubble. Hello Pepper Pots stunt double. The change I am craving is color. Or pattern. Or texture. Something, anything to distract from the bags under my eyes. Those were a gift from LJ so I am not complaining but I can still call it like I see it….not.cute. My mom actually told me the other day that my eyeliner was running….and then realized that it was just my face….with concealer on. That actually happened.
So when Nordstrom Rack called and asked if I would check out their site, I was totally game. Afterall, I do have one free hand when I am sitting and nursing, so online shopping is naturally the logical thing to do. I started out picking these beautiful linen pants….and then seeing if there was anything with a little pattern or color that could match up…
I’d also buy these shoes. Shoot. I need my wallet right now before I forget.
I also got drawn to some really cute tops that looked really post-partum friendly. One of the things about having babies so close together is that my body really changed drastically in a relatively short amount of time. Not only do the numbers on the scale tell me a different story than my pre-Weston days, but my body is shaped different now. And I never really had much of a waist to start with (it’s like the curse of having longer legs)…so my midsection needs all the help it can get. I like the fact that these tops all look like they would hide or distract from my not-so-smooth middle!
And of course, while I was window shopping for me, I also had to pick out some cute things for the boys in my life (father’s day is coming up and I really think Jer would like some clothes that fit!)….
So the question I always get is…do I actually shop at these places? Do I actually love these items?
And the answer is YES. I actually have a little striped one-piece outfit from Nordstrom Rack for LJ that is waiting for him as we speak…and I got a couple maternity items (that I still wear now!) only a few months ago. I have found that the quality is great, the shipping was swift (it’s free shipping for orders over $100) and the prices were affordable! I like to shop at Nordstrom Rack and HauteLook at the same time (in fact, if you already have a Hautelook account, you can use that to log into the Nordstrom Rack account already) because there is a single checkout and I have purchased a number of gifts for other people and clothing for my own family that I just don’t have access to buying otherwise. Living out in the boonies does have it’s benefits but shopping options are not one of them. They ship to US, Canada, and Australia. And even though I haven’t used them yet…there is easy 90 day returns by mail (or by store if you are one of those urban-types!) is a great back-up-if-it-don’t-fit plan. And I like the fact that I can check them frequently and new things are added all the time. Because I nurse a lot. A LOT.
Now let’s chat…what is your closet craving lately?
Justine says
As I’m newly expecting and totally pudging already (2nd kid!), I have to have that yellow top in the first picture. But the link doesn’t lead me to it. Help! 🙂

I’ve really been wanting to find some cute maxi skirts for summer. Not just stripes or chevron, but cute bright fun prints. Oh and some bright fun palazzo pants too:)

The disclaimer before the post said there was a giveaway- was that a mistake?
Katherine says
For the record, I would still read your blog even with zero giveaways. Sorry, I’m not sure there was a better way to ask that.

Cute choices – and I LOVE those shoes!! We frequent the Nordstrom Rack at Mall of GA, near Northpoint, and in Buckhead when we are in those areas. Love that store!

I’m loving the yellow peasant inspired top. Like you, I’m postpartum with #3 (although my little Eleanor is almost one next month!) and my mid section needs some serious hiding until I can get my act together. Something about third babies…can’t bounce back as well! Maybe also to do with us getting older…I’m only 35 although! Enough depressing thought though….more shopping!

Ditto Justine! I’m in LOVE with that yellow top! 🙂

With 4 kiddos of my own I am craving easy! Cute summer dresses that I can throw a cardigan over for the crazy Maine temperature changes. Also congrats on being voted one of the top 26 design blogs by Domino. In my opinion that is huge! I love that magazine.

Congratulations on being named one of Domino’s Top Design Blogs. As a longtime reader (since before you had Will) I feel so hip following you this whole time! Love these picks. I don’t know how you do everything with a four year old, one year old, and a little one!

I love that first top. Super cute picks ya got here, Katie. And for a second I thought that the little shorts were for Jeremy. I was totally picturing those mid thigh-high “dad shorts” from the 70s and 80s. Come one Jeremy! Lets see those gams!

I am breastfeeding and consequently an F cup. Nordstrom Rack saved me from tearing out my hair (and it’s falling out so I need all the hair I have) trying to find a bra in my size! Found 2 last week for half off regular price and I’m going to take them to a tailor to convert them to nursing bras. I’ve been chugging along for a few months with ONE bra that fit properly.

Couldn’t find the pants. The link doesn’t go to anything on your list. Tried searching on website, but no luck…???

I don’t know if you’ve heard of StitchFix but you should totally check it out. They send you a box of 5 things monthly, 2x/mo or every other month (per your choice) that is based on your style profile you’ve put together for them. A personal stylist creates it and you get to try on at home. And it’s super easy to send back what you don’t like. Only $20/month and you can use that $20 if you decide to purchase one of the five items. Check them out! (I don’t work for them, just love the concept!) http://www.stitchfix.com I’ll be writing a blog about my “fixes” soon!

I just got a beautiful coat from NRack in Chicago when I left my coat in the car at LAX! It looked very much like this one: http://www.bluefly.com/via-spiga-peat-green-belted-button-hooded-trench-coat/p/328274901/detail.fly?partner=polyvoreCPC_outerwear&referer=polyvoreCPC&utm_source=polyvoreCPC&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=outerwear&utm_campaign=0813&cm_mmc=ca_polyvore-_-CPC-_-outerwear-_-0813
And now I totally need to re-vamp my bathing suit wardrobe for the summer- I’ve held on to some older skimpier suits, and my body is totally telling me we have moved on to a different more sophisticated swim look. I hope Nordsroms Rack comes through for me again!

I have an Old Navy credit card that I use to pay my bills then pay off the balance every month. This allows me to earn cash back for Old Navy, Piperlime, Gap and Banana Republic. I’ve been craving color and functionality together so I LOVE perusing the Old Navy Jewelry (freeeeee with my cash back!) and classy staple items from Piperlime (Marc Jacobs glasses, kate spade earrings, etc) (also free!). SO awesome! I do love Haute Look though thanks to your last post about them. I have yet to purchase because I’m terrible about checking the site and always miss out on my sizes grrr.

THANKS! I was so honored to be included 🙂

Thanks so much…I am still SHOCKED. Like I think my reply email to the Domino folks must have had a bazillion typos I was typing so fast (I knew that they might change their minds)!

Katie says
Totally my bad. I copied the disclaimer from the previous sponsored post without double checking. Don’t worry though – there are some fun giveaways coming soon!

Katie says
Sorry about that…the links go to the brand and if the pants sell out, then the brand will just show up 🙁 That is the rough part about this site…the price is discounted to a point where the products MOVE and if you don’t go fast enough, you don’t get the item.

They are my go-to for shoes! For my entire family (just got my 2 year old the cutest Pumas there a week ago. I am eyeing some Tory Burch flats for myself…). Katie – did you have a chance to check the email I sent you? I can help reverse some of those drastic changes 🙂
