Are you SUUURE I cant convince you to fly to NH to take pictures on my 8 week old? Shes a giirll…and pretty cuuuteee 🙂 As always, your eye for photography is amazing.
Are you still using the Nifty 50 or are you trying any other lenses?
Oops. ‘You’re’, not ‘your’. duh, Jackie. 😛
(Ok, this always reminds me of the friends episode where Ross and Rachel are fighting and Ross says to her abour her long letter “and by the way, Y-O-U-apostrophe-R-E means ‘you are.’ Y-O-U-R means ‘your!’ Then Rachel yells back “it’s not that common, it doesn’t happen to every guy, and it is a big deal!”. Haha. Ok, sorry I love that show).
I upgraded to the f/1.4 when I got the new camera…so that is what I use most of the time now for portrait work. The nifty fifty is still worth every darn cent…and I plan to keep mine just in case my 1.4 ever needs to be sent off for cleaning or whatnot 🙂

I am trying new lenses…when I bought the 5D I got the f/1.4 – which is just the step up from the 1.8 and I love it. I also saved all my christmas/birthday/google money and got the 24-70mm and I love it. It was ridiculously priced but I think now I am set for a while.

I just cashed in all my Discovercard dollars this past week and ordered that lens after
seeing a friends. Im just waiting impatiently for it to arrive. She said its alot better
in ow lighting…cant wait to test it!!
I know the tendency is to take that fstop all the way down…but don’t. As much as it works wonderfully at 1.4, most people (coughmecough) aren’t far enough away to get the entire subject in focus so you end up with maybe eyes in focus but everything else not. I would suggest just getting use to the ‘prime-ness’ of the lens. As in, take photos, and then download them to see what distance to move your body and what looks good. Depending on your camera, a 50mm can be actually closer than you anticipate. Happy shooting!

You won’t be disappointed…although it does take a little bit to get use to…just a word of warning if your photos look blurry at the beginning.

Any tips on using the 1.4 while I work out the blurry kinks?
