Being that it was the month dedicated to the fuzzy hearts and boxes of chocolates and teddy bears saying “be mine!”, I got much love for this past month’s sponsors. And I can’t tell you how much I appreciate their support – it literally helps put the power behind Bower Power. No seriously…it pays the bills to keep the blog up and runnin.
Speaking of runnin – let’s give you the rundown of February’s sponsors….
Many hugs and kisses to Hot Blinds….
Window coverings are important…especially when you are likely to get naked at any part of the day. I would dare to say that most of us do that at least once a day. And I would be the first to raise my hand when it comes to the question “who doesn’t want to see a naked neighbor?”. Hotblinds can help create privacy, lower our energy bills, and even can make a room look good. Their products start at only $19 and they have LOADS of options. They carry everything from woven to wooden to black out to fabric to solar shades to top down blinds. (oh and if you are needing a little more info on blinds in general – go to their blog!)
You see these roller shades that room-darken? Yeah – I am on my way to measure Will’s bedroom window’s as we speak…
Next is Ally of Ally’s Willow House.
Willow House is an online source for GORG high end home decor and all things home entertaining. There is an online store, and you can also throw a party with Ally and have great discounts, credits and earn bucks toward your own home decorating stash. Plus, it’s a really fun way to gather with your gal friends for a night of nibbles and talking and shopping. But I want to focus on the outlet shopping for a moment. Seriously awesome stuff for uber discounted prices. I would seriously stock up right now for Christmas and birthday gifts.
Here’s some things that caught my eye…
- five-piece antipasti tray $10.96
- ice cream scoop $3.96
- Jackson Square pedestal $12.96
- measuring prep bowls $8.96 for all 5
- Southern Slippers serving bowl $20.96 (my friend Brook has this and I LOVE IT!)
All of them would be superb homewarming gifts (hinthint!) and make sure to check out their spring catalog .
And last but certainly not least is a big smoocher to all of you who send in your pics to utilize the photo editing service I offer. Honestly, it brings me such a huge amount of joy to know that I have a tiny little peek into your lives and I get a teeny little role in helping you remember your loved ones, cherish those chubby babies, and getting photos worth displaying of those amazing fleeting moments that whiz by in all of our lives.
Some of my favorite before & afters from this past month are the brotherly boys that Sarah sent in. Those letter jackets are KILLING me….
And Jodi asked for a little help with this photo of her and her nephew…isn’t amazing what a little brightening and color boosting can do?!
And this month must be the time for little boys – because Joy’s little guy is ridiculously cute in his driving hat and textured vest. What’s not cute is that blue cast on his face…which I was able to eliminate for this soon-to-be-a-canvas Joy’s wall 🙂
And I told you there was boys….some of the gosh-darned-cutest cuddling brothers I ever saw. This photo makes me rethink the whole “I want a girl next” idea.
Lastly I wanted to share a photo I absolutely love. This is Alison and her main squeeze….on their wedding day. His face is priceless…like “look what I just got!” kinda sideways grin priceless. And her hair-piece….just stunning. I am just so glad to be able to edit a little picture like this to make it perfect for printing for a manly V-day gift.
If you are interested in sending in your high-resolution photo for editing…it is only $10 a photo and includes the color & b/w version. Just email me your picture and what you would like to ‘fix’ in the photo and I will let you know if I can tackle your picture and wrestle it into submission 🙂
Thanks again to everyone for your support!
p.s. If you contacted me about being a March sponsor or had a question about ad spots, please shoot me a quick email and make sure to include your ‘button’ for the sidebar. My inbox looks like a tornado hit it (well, my life, my house, and my hair looks like that too) so my sincerest apologies to anyone I didn’t email already.

I hope all is well in the bower household, you’ll be all moved in and sorted in no time 🙂 x

Yay! That’s my little guy in the driving hat. 🙂 You did a fantastic job on editing the photo, Katie. I’ve ordered my canvas and am anxiously awaiting its arrival.

Those edited pictures make a huge difference!

Cannot.Get.Enough of the little guy in the letter jacket. He’s definitely getting a ticket from the cuteness police today!

I feel like recently your blog is becoming more and more focused on sponsors, side jobs, and sales. :-/ I love your posts on your home and even just family life stuff but lately I don’t want to even read because it’s usually “check out my photo shoot” “$10 to edit photos” “spaces are filling, book now” “check out my sponsors.. Ps If you want to be a sponsor email me” I just hope that all the photography and stuff doesn’t end up taking over the blog. I feel like every time I check your blog, I’m another nickel in your bank account towards fixing up this huge house you’re buying. And I normally wouldn’t mind but you don’t even seem focused on that anymore. You should follow yhl’s footsteps. You’re blog is becoming distasteful.

Those are my two sweet, cuddling boys! I cannot tell you how much I love the improvements you made! I just love it so much!! Thank you, thank you!!
Natalie says
I LOVE that you are now editing pictures for a small fee! I can now rest easy, and not sweat about not being able to plan a family photo session (seeing as how we live in Texas and you live, well, REALLY far away)!
Katie says
Hi Ulysess,
Sorry you feel that way – and yes, I do a once a month sponsor shoutout…which does make the rest of the blog possible. And yes, photography is a big part of my life…so I will be talking about that whenever I get the opportunity to spend a little time behind the camera. I know that photography isn’t for everyone…but remember, this blog isn’t like YHL…Sherry & John run a strictly home improvement/DIY/everything home-related blog….and Bower Power is just my brainchild. from my very weird and twisted brain. Hope you can understand!

I’m sad you feel this way about Katie’s blog. I’ve noticed on the many blogs I follow there are posts that aren’t worth the extra effort to read, rather scan through them. The great thing about her blog is that’s free for us to read and get ideas. Not everything in life comes free though and you do have to work to make a living. There are so many blogs of a similar nature that you might find one you enjoy reading that might cater more towards your needs. Rather than spend the time explaining why you think her blog is distasteful, invest you time in finding one that is more worthwhile for your time. Life is too short to waste it on things not worthy of taking our breath away!

Katie,
You are so sweet, and have an adorable family! Best of luck to you in everything you do!

Stumbled on your blog and I can’t get enough!! 🙂 Your little guy is so cute!! I have 2 girls, a 2 year old and 4 month old. You have totally inspired me to make over my home! I felt like since I had kids stuff everywhere I couldn’t focus on making it pretty… well you proved me wrong and I thank you!!! For the inspiration and ideas!! :)))) Random question… do you use any type of TV safety straps for your TV in your living room?? We recently upgraded our tv to a flat panel and are awaiting its arrival but I’m paranoid of it tipping over. Thanks!! PS. LOVE YOUR GOODWILL TIPS!! I tried them out … and it worked! 😀
Katie says
We don’t use any safety straps…we just pushed it back all the way and kept something in front of it like candlesticks so that if there was ever a question of Will climbing up there, we would hear the clank of the candlesticks first.

I have to disagree with Ulysses, I personally love your blog more than YHL because of your real-ness and the fact that your posts are sometimes random but always a true reflection of you and your life. I read every word of your “thanks to sponsors” post because even when you are being “business”-y, you still are YOU and make funny comments and always keep us laughing and entertained. Who cares if your life feels like a trainwreck and you want to post about something that you have accomplished? As long as you’re happy, I will keep reading!
Katie says
Aww thanks Kayla. And personally I love YHL more than my own blog…but I think it’s because I love my Sher so much. Every time I read her posts, I am like, I only wish she had the freedom to NOT post about home decor stuff….she really is an amazing gal beyond all that 🙂
