September is still summertime here in Georgia…and we really got hot and bothered over the possibility of a new kitchen. This was the real start…the beginning of the kitchen renovation journey…amongst other things…and I am so glad we got to tackle it.
As most of you already know, each month we throw together a synopsis of that months posts….links to take you back and show ya some of the great (and not-so-great) stuff we took on, a few events in our personal life, and some random other stuff.

SPONSORS:
If you’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a thousand times – sponsors help keep blogs up and running. That is definitely true in our case. Not only do they provide for the ‘dirty’ part of blogging – all the behind-the-scenes costs of the technical stuff to keep this site available – but they also make it possible to take on things like kitchen renovations, crafts, and the occasional bacony breakfast. The best part of my sponsors is that they actually carry stuff I dig. Huge perk if you ask me because then I don’t have to lie through my teeth if someone wants a recommendation 🙂 Here are our current sponsors and any purchase or click over by you is much appreciated…
Do you Scentsy? I do. And I’m proud. Scentsy is like heaven for your nose. I’m not even kidding. Open those pearly gates and let in the scent of amazing. They sell everything that gives angels wings. Check out the new holiday warmers…they are adorable!
My Art Habit sells ready-to-hang real art. As in – the sucker is framed and set and the only thing you have to worry about is whether or not you hang it six inches higher. Their abstracts are my favorite but lately the black & white photography has haunted me. I love the vanishing fence one. I can almost imagine living in b&w!
The Tile Shop obviously is my go-to source for tile. They carry it all. And for me, a huge part of any bathroom, laundry or kitchen makeover is the tile. I would plan my entire kitchen around it…oh yeah, I did that already! It’s just that tile could make a room or break a room….so that’s why I choose the Tile Shop…because they have the tile hotties.
September introduced me to the luxury that is Velata. They put the fond in fondue. As in, I am overly fond of their warmer and chocolate pouches. I mean…do you wanna celebrate a little or big event in style? Velata can make that happen in less than five minutes. I’m not kidding. You instantly look like a chocolate expert and super shmancy what with your melted chocolate on display.
Sweet Zoe geeks me out. That’s a saying, right?! Seriously cute and modern stuff….everything from cell phone cases to tote bags to napkins to pet water bowls. Think preppy monograms, current colors and fonts, and happy, girly designs. I love this pet water bowl so much I am tempted to get it. And no, I don’t have a pet.
Knesting slipcovers are freaking genius. Basically they are like a makeover for your old Ikea furniture. So you can call them Fairee Goddmothah. Seriously…that’s Ikea for Knesting slipcovers.
I love my RugsUSA rugs. I took advantage of their fabulous sales prices (which happen really often) to buy multiple types for my own home. I love them and so will you.
So many folks ask me for easy ways to improve their photography. This is it. Patti Brown makes products and tools to take your pictures from eh to AH! Click here to learn more!
Evgie is the go-to place for beautiful wall decals. Basically they are gigantic art for your wall that don’t require a frame or a masters degree to apply. The best part is that they can be removed. So unlike that college tatoo you totally regret, this sucker can be switched out if you move, rent or just grow out of it.
Yes – you saw this correctly. These are eye charts that just don’t test your sight…but they warm your heart with their special messages. My current heart swells for the custom wedding gift print. What a great way to commemorate a love!
My dear older brother has a plumbing business and I would be remiss to not at least tell ya about him. He’s honest to a fault…and hates the fact that plumbers have a bad rap for being scam artists that charge too much to snake a toilet. So as the faithful sister that I am…here is his facebook info and if you are in the Birmingham area…hopefully you can ask him to give you an honest assessment of your plumbing issue.
HAPPY PERUSING!
p.s. thanks to you guys too…you are all so encouraging even when I’m in a bad mood. I spent some time just refocusing the past few days (that often helps me gain perspective and remember that duh-it’s-not-all-about-me). So I’m happy to be back and will definitely let you know if anything (like a baby) goes down 🙂

Anyone that has ever given birth knows how frustrating the last days of pregnancy are. Don’t worry about us–we’ll be here. :0)

Katie, I love how real you are! You’re not afraid to say what you’re thinking and that’s what makes you so fun to read. You’re an inspiration to me, even though I don’t agree with everything you say, I love that, because it’s what makes us unique, and human. The world is a beautiful place 🙂
Wishing you nothing but peace and happiness.

Hugs and love (as we say in our family) to all the Bowers! Thinking about you daily and praying for a peaceful and easy transition to a “party of four.”

I actually have a Knesting slipcover and I love it. Genius idea, right? Here’s hoping that this weekend brings the arrival of baby boy #2. I have two boys, 3 1/2 years apart and it’s so much fun to watch the older one with his new baby. They’ll share such a special bond!

Hang in there! My little guy was a week late and while it was an agonizing wait (we so wanted to meet him!) and I got all sorts of cranky at times, it turned out it was all for the best. If he had come any earlier, we wouldn’t have been able to have all 4 out-of-town grandparents at the hospital. It was a lot of love and support that we’d both have missed out on if he’d arrived on time.
In the meantime, spend some time with that awesome boyfriend of yours and cuddle with Will. Let him know what a great big brother he’s going to be!

Hi Katie, I know this is off topic, but I was just wondering what Will was for Halloween? Your “Jersery Shore” costumes last year were hilarious !

Katie–Maybe Baby Boy Bower is already here, but if not I just wanted to offer some encouragement. My daughter was a successful VBAC at 12 days overdue! Keep holding out…the longer you wait to go into labor on your own, the better your chances are of getting the VBAC you want!!!

Katie,
I love your blog and am a daily reader… now I am a daily stalker. 😉 I keep checking to see if you had that little one yet. He he!

Great month!
So I just bought a Canon Mark II and cannot stop thinking about how you named yours Marky Mark. It had stuck and I may have to follow. It’s a great camera and I can’t wait to play more!!!
Jenn says
Aren’t we all! We’re all just watching…and waiting!

I discovered today (accidentally) that you have hate sites. I just wanted to tell you that I love, love, love your blog… and I guess all those comments just mean you’re basically a celebrity! God bless, and I hope you have your baby soon!
Katie says
Yup. They are something, huh?! Of course, it stinks to think about people out there just talking about my failures, my flawed personality and all the ways I irritate them…but I guess it’s better than to my face 🙂
