The Christmas spirit is strong with our family. It’s like a raging machine. And we are in our element right now….the lights are hung, the stockings are up, the tree is ornamented, the cookies are everywhere…including my mouth. It’s like Christmas cheer has exploded all over our house and us and we LOVE IT.
Today I am so excited to share some of that cheer with all of you! We have a fun craft and a partnership with one of my favorite companies – Bombas and a great giveaway just in time for Christmas!
So everyone loves a good stocking stuffer – it can be that fresh smell of an orange or your favorite lipgloss or even new socks! If you love using those stockings as a place to stash new underwear and socks (that’s you mom!), then I highly recommend Bombas socks. I can not tell you enough about these socks but they are worth every cent. They are athletic-leisure socks and they are a sock that seriously makes a difference!
Personally they are my favorite because they actually stay up! I don’t like to have that bunchy sock nonsense going on under my boots with the overlapping of the pant and sock and cuff and whatnot – it literally makes me feel like my legs are suffocating – so I use these Bombas low socks and BOOM. Instant foot happiness. Not only do they stay put but then I am not dealing with the bunchiness (because they are low) or the chaffing of my heel (because they are made with that important heel cushion) and they are super comfortable. Also – no annoying toe bump. Thank you Kris Kringle and all your elves for hand-stitching that for me 🙂
I mean…Gap just recently decided to sell these puppies. Yeah. You know that Gap doesn’t put their name on stuff that isn’t awesome.
And they make pretty darn cute stockings too 🙂
The craft is that super sweet Christmas rack/stocking holder. Isn’t it adorable? And so easy!
I found these cardboard letters at Walmart for $2.99 and decided to make them look like the zinc finish that is super popular on Pinterest.
I used the Metallic Finish spray paint from Rust-Oleum. I am obsessed with this stuff. If you come over and all my trees are metallic….you’ll know why.
It takes a couple solid coats and some scooching of the letters to get all the sides but eventually they are shiny and awesome.
Time to zincify! That’s a word. I should trademark it 🙂
I smeared a little black paint on all the corners and nooks with a sponge brush and then wiped the excess off with the paper towel.
Then I dug a board out of my stash – it was 24.5″ long and I sanded it down and gave it a thick coat of white paint.
After it was dry, I took it back to the sander and banged up the corners and edges for a well worn finish.
Those edges will accept stain so I smeared on Varathane’s Dark Walnut and wiped the face of the board with the paper towel till it looked a little more rustic.
Then I aligned my letters. I used thick tape as my guide and lined up everything so it would fit on the board.
I also marked the edges on the tape so that when I picked up the letters, I would know exactly where to put it back down 🙂
A little adhesive on the back and we are flying high! No pun intended….don’t do drugs unless your doctor prescribed them 🙂
Bada boom bada DRY TIME!
Next came the knobs. I got these shiny little beauties at World Market on clearance – they were marked down to $1 each and they sparkle just right!
I marked the center hole and then did the outer holes 5 inches from the sides. Just drilled a hole and slipped the knob through!
It’s so cute, right!?
I love that it could pull double duty….both as a little rack for scarves or mittens or as a stocking holder! It would be perfect for those people that are mantel-less or have tight spaces! Plus, it just hangs up like a regular coat rack so no damaging the walls 🙂
I loaded it up with mini stockings so that you could see how adorable it really is. And you know what is behind that sock monkey? BOMBAS for kids! That’s right people.
So the letters turned out pretty stellar. They even fooled Jeremy who swore they were metal.
And the little knobs sparkle just right!
But the best part about this post isn’t the craft….although it does come close….it’s the fact that the fine folks at Bombas want to help some folks out with their own stocking stuffers (or if you are greedy, you’ll do the smart other thing and keep the prize all to yourself!). You can win! And even if you don’t, know that for every sale of the Bombas socks, they donate a pair to someone in need. In fact, since 2013, they have donated over 500K socks! I think that is pretty incredible and I am proud to support this company because of that fact!
(P.s. if you know a CrossFit person…these are perfect for them. Jeremy loves them!)

I would order the calf mixed pack. My son is a sock fanatic….he would love them.
I’d try out those low athletic socks. The ones I have in my sock drawer are super tight around the ankle and irritate and itch by the end of the day. No bueno.
Where is your black sweater from you’re wearing as you model the socks?! It looks just like what I’ve had in my head searching stores for all season!!
i have a low and a calf pair of the multi-color grey ones, love! i asked for more for christmas and ordered a pair for my whole family for their stockings.
I would love something bright & fun! Thanks!
I LOVE Bombas socks and you’re the one who introduced me to them so thank you!!
I’m all about bright and colorful socks! I wear a lot of black so when it comes to socks, I like color;)
i love these socks! i first saw them on shark tank, and i love that they donate a pair to homeless shelters for every pair bought. that and the unique honeycomb intrigued me enough to try them out, and they are great! i have the short ones in grey in every color and one pair of the tall ones. i bought a pair for my sister, and now she’s in love with them too 🙂
I would order the original ankle mixed color pack
Love the grey and orange — but I’d also have to get a pair or two for the hubs who has been eyeing them for a while!
Love your craft! You are always so clever!
I’m intrigued by these socks – mine are always slouching down and it is super annoying. I love the pink ankle ones for myself and I know my husband would pretty much love all of their men’s line!
Bright and colorful!
I’ve been wanting a pair if these! I would pick the low colorful ones!
Low and solid all the way!
Would love to try the ankle socks in bright and bold colors!!
I’d love some ankle socks. Most of the socks I have slip off my heel. No bueno!
I would go for the low athletic socks! Great colors
Very happy to see they come in six packs. Any color ankle sock is good for me.
I would love to try the low and solid socks! Thanks!
I love the colorful ones- they make me smile when I take off my boots!
I would love to try the tall socks in the more muted colors. I’ve been dying to try them since they were on Shark Tank.
I would like to try the low cut athletic socks! they look perfect and comfy!
I would definitely go with the ankle socks
Love the grey calf length ones!
Love!!! Love!!!! Love!!! these socks – I bought some the last time you talked about them —- of course my daughter has thieved them from me so I need some more low ones – I may or may not share with her : )
I would love to try them. Just saw the company on shark tank. I would like bright low socks.
My daughter would love the shocking pink Gap pair of socks.
I would love to try the low cut to wear with tennis shoes
I would order the ankle socks for the reasons you described above…I hate the calf suffication!!! Love the grey/Ultraviolet color!
I’m such a no show socks girl so the original ankle are my jam. I’m a runner. The saying goes, the brighter the shoe/clothes the faster you are so I would have to go with all the colors!
I love the “galvanized” letters. I’m going to have to give that a try!
Low! I love ankle socks! And most of mine have loose elastic – definitely hate them falling down! These sound great. Thanks!
I just ordered some and can’t wait to try them! I would love to try the solids calf and ankle mix pack.
I own the short athletic ones and just ordered new ones from Gap. I wouldn’t have purchased them initially if it weren’t for your original posting on them. Thanks!
I would totally get the Originals Black Calf Four Pack for my husband! He cooks and is on his feet all day so these would be perfect
I bought some the last time you suggested! Love them!
I would love the low athletic socks!
Do I have to choose just one???
I’m torn! I like the mixed color four pack but not sure if I would go low or high… I think high. 🙂
I’m super picky about socks. I would like the low athletic ones.
Original ankle in multi colors! Thank you. 🙂
Love that stocking holder! As for the socks, I tend to reach for low, white athletic socks most often. Bombas look amazing!
I would like the low athletic socks. I dislike the ones I currently have.
Bright & colorful! Would love to try these!
I would order low athletic socks. I like how they look and how they feel!
I like the ankle socks in the bright colors!
I love the colorful low cut socks but I typically wear black so those are the ones I would choose. 🙂
Colorful socks all the way!
I’d love the low anklets or anything fun and bright colored!
Also, side note. I totally need a larger diy closet. I love that you just have he materials available ready to go when you need it! Lucky lady!
I’d pick the low cut ones in grey/hot pink. So cute!
I’ld want to calf height socks for an extra layer of warmth and coziness!
The Americanos are awesome! Love those and the white ankles.
I like the look of the calf height in the bright aqua color! We’ve never tried Bombas, but it’d be interesting to compare them to our favorite brand, Wigwam, which we’re obsessed with. Ever tried Wigwam, made in the USA?
Low and white all the way…super boring but functional!
Low and solid for the win! I have serious sock issues — I’m super fussy and they have to be just so. I’m psyched to try Bombas out!
I’d get some low and neutral ones so I can still wear them with flats. I live in AZ where it’s always hot so no boots for me. 🙁
bright and colorful for sure!
Originals Calf Every Color Eight Pack . The white for my girls and the black for my boys.
Bright and colorful and low and white.
I’ve been dying to try bombas!
I love the hot pink and grey colors.
Low and white… Boot worthy and running worthy
Bright blue for sure!

Ankle brights seem right up my alley!
Would love ankle socks in black and electric blue! They look super comfy!
Definitely low but colorful and fun… just heard Bob Goff speak (author of Love Does) and he talked about how he always wears happy socks. .. I need to get me some happy socks 🙂
Low and bright!!
I would love the black originals, with the multi color toe and heel for a little jazz!
I would get the womens calf solid because Im boring like that- but I also worked at a sock manufacturer for 7 years and have a million ankle ones still in the packaging 🙂
Loving the bright ankle socks!
I’d love to try these! I play a lot of tennis so I like the low ones. Just a peek of color is always fun. I am very picky about my socks…thick enough to cushion but not too tight in my shoe. Can’t have a certain name brand that is so “compression type” it cuts off the circulation to my toes. Lately all my socks have been sliding down into my shoe like when I was a child wearing thin white anklets with my black patent Mary Janes!
Love your HoHoHo hanging rack! Great job!
I would love some for running. Especially pretty and colorful ones.
LOW AND WHITE!
low and colorful! i have the low and solid- I LOVE these!!
I love them all! I definitely want some socks that don’t slip. This is huge!! Also I love colorful fun socks when I am hanging out around the house or under my boots.
The tall yellow ones! My hubby has a pair and LOVES them!
Low and BRIGHT!
My hubby would like the half calf….in one of those cool colors!
Love the low profile style and colors! I too have started wearing them with my boots – so much better!
This girl’s feetsies would run faster with those ankle brights!
Loving the colorful ones but bet I’d chose low and solid for the hubs and colorful for everybody else in our house! Me? I can’t decide they all look comfy!
The calf length style. I’m always on the look out for some comfy boog socks!
Thank you!

Solid and low is what I need the most. I agree with you that it would be great for boots.
Girls Gap X Bombay Calf!
Bright and colorful! I think bright socks help cheer up the coming gloomy winter days and nights!
Low & solid for me, boring I know 😉
Here in Colorado I’d need the calf height ones for sure…probably black to be practical but with a pair of a fun color thrown in as well 🙂

Violet calf-height. Love purple!
Low ankle socks, mixed colors. Great giveaway!
Low and colorful – love colors!!
Dear Katie:),
I’d say I am a low and solid girl. However, when I think about it I’m more of a low and flabby girl because I am short and have 3 kids. Eh, it is what it is. Additionally, I really like the crafty wall hanging and I think if you added one more ‘Ho’, flipped that baby upside down, and turned on some Gwen Stefani, you’d have a really cool homage to her new ‘I used to love you’ song. That’s how I think. 🙂 (pardon my nonsense)
colorful! always nice to have some color in the winter even if its under your boots
I have these socks and they are awesome! I also love that they donate one pair for each pair sold. So nice!
Colorful all the way!
I love fun socks 🙂 If I win, I would get a mix of tall and shoet and probably give some away. Sharing is fun.
Tall socks that don’t scrunch down? Yes please! I live in boots in the winter and need socks that stay put!

Low and colorful! So fun for coordinating outfits, because that is totally needed when you show up for Crossfit!
the tall bright ones for my hubby!
Original Low Multi Color – I LOVE those brights!!
The low and colorful ones!
Low and solid for me I think. They would be best with booties!
After seeing Bombas on your blog a while ago, I pinned them for Christmas stockings. Everyone in the family is getting Bombas for Christmas this year, except the baby. Why don’t they make baby socks yet?
I would choose low and athletic for myself…high and neutral for my hubbie!
A combination of the low and calf for me! But I’ve got a son with sensory issues about the ridges in socks, so I’d also be interested in the low black for him!
The ankle color ones. 🙂
