I love shopping. Probably an unnatural amount. I have zero limits when it comes to time spent browsing, hunting, rack sifting….my children do not. Their limit is about forty three seconds after I enter a store…so naturally I do a lot of ‘scouting’ before I actually don my running shoes and pack the kids up for a in-real-life-store-shopping-excursion. Right now I am hunting maternity clothing. I blame my freakishly weak abdominal muscles for my already-looks-thirty-weeks-along belly and my love of forgiving waistbands.
Anyhoo…let’s get to the point. All week long I have bonus posts for you folks expecting a waistline expansion (baby? burrito? stomach-implant-surgery?) wrapping up some of my favorite clothing finds of several maternity clothing stores. Just a peak into my closet wishlist. Let’s pretend I was made of money and each item made it into my closet, fit perfectly, and made me look twenty pounds lighter, mmkay!?
Happy shopping y’all!

I wore the heck out of that tunic sweater all last winter (February baby). With the ON black maternity leggings? Done and done. They also had a long, hooded thermal shirt with little ties on the side that made me super happy for my whole third trimester. So funny how you can rock super tight clothes when you’re pregnant and feel cute but as soon as that baby’s out your don’t want anyone to see the lines of your body!
Sherry@The Impatient Remodelers says
I love Old Navy! I am not pregnant (kids are 6 and 3) but I still buy their maternity tops! I love how long they are!! The rouching on the side makes them long. I am tall and most shirts ride up and show my tunny. I hate that! Go Old Navy!!!
Allison says
Does your old navy actually have a maternity section in the store? Not only does mine not have one, but I think I’ve only ever been in one location that DOES. I’ll be buying online and returning them to the store, when the time comes. LOVE old navy!!!!
Amy says
You’re going to love the striped maxi dress. Wore it all the time when I was pregnant with #2 who was born in July.
Bethany @ Dwellings By DeVore says
I loved Old Navy’s maternity line when I was pregnant with my daughter. They had lots of good staples and the prices are great for something you aren’t going to wear forever! I also heard J.Crew just came out with a maternity line! 🙂
smith207 says
I feel you on the weak ab muscles!! I’m not even pregnant again and I can make myself look 30 weeks pregnant just by sticking out my gut a little.
Stephanie M. says
I’m with ya Katie! I love shopping way too much. Especially online shopping. Old Navy’s website probably gets tired of me clicking away on it. And I’m so weird that I’m not even pregnant (currently TTC) and I browse the maternity section. I totally died over #4 on your list when I first spotted it! Now why don’t they have it in non-maternity?!? #pregnantchickshaveallthefun
Liz says
I absolutely LOVE Old Navy’s maternity tees. Just bought a bunch in every color about a week ago. And they even look great post-pregnancy!
Luisa says
Congratulations to you and your family!! I’m currently 14 weeks along so I’ll be looking forward to these posts! Wide waist banded maxis are my fave right now!!!
Julie @ Living on the Ledge says
Old Navy is my fave for maternity. I hate shelling out a ton of money for clothes I will be wearing ever so briefly, and the Old Navy deals are by far the best. Shorts and tanks tops this summer for $11-ish dollars? Yes, please! Their quality always leaves a little to be desired, but for something I don’t need to last forever, I don’t mind at all!

Last year I felt the same way about a maternity coat but I was pregnant in the summer and felt like I would get such a tiny use out of it so there was no justification in buying it. I am punching myself in the face for not jumping at it then…ergH!

WHAT THE WHAT?! MUST RESEARCH THAT NOW!!!

Ha. Welcome to the 3rd pregnancy! I swear I couldn’t “hide” my 2nd from work before the test dried. NO LIE. I was doing the hair tie through the button hole trick to my jeans rather quickly.
The next time I wore a dress to work, someone asked if I was expecting.
My muscles are always like “OH I remember this…” and then POOF I suddenly look very pregnant!
Katie says
Just found it and sadly they only have two items on it right now. Both pants. Boo! I want maternity tops! Do you hear me JCREW!?

Katie says
Mine doesn’t. I hate that. I sometimes go to the Mall of Georgia because sometimes they have a few maternity items but never like online.

Katie says
Amen.

I hear ya. The selection is small but H&M just added maternity online too. I bought the cute denim dress partly because I liked it, but mostly cause I need them to keeping making and selling their maternity stuff online.
Katie says
Yes…I knew of H&M – they had it when I was pregnant with Weston so I was familiar…but to me, it’s kinda like they are still trying to figure out how to dress someone that isn’t 5’9″ and 100lbs 🙂

Katie says
HEAR THAT?! SHOP PEOPLE!

I think my favorite tops and leggings came from ON. I wore them from 6 months prego until 6 months post baby…finally loaned them to a friend. They have an amazing clearance section! If you were to buy one thing full price there–go for the ON low waist maternity jeggings. Amazing.
julie says
I got that maxi dress with the stripes from Old Navy. Sadly it did not look right until I was 6-7 months along.
Allison says
Is it bad that I’m not pregnant but really love shopping for maternity clothes?
Congratulations on baby #3!
Lauren says
I saw this recently too and was disappointed by the “selection.” I did hear though that they’re just getting started and will have a real launch once they add more pieces to the collection. Not holding my breath that’ll happen in the next 22 weeks so I can personally take advantage, however!
Katie says
Good to know! I was hoping to score it and wear it with a jean jacket but now you have me thinking that it might be better to skip it!

Super excited about this post and future ones. I am six weeks pregnant with my second and I am going shopping now! When are you due / how far along are you?
Joanna says
These bonus posts are perfect timing! Congratulations Katie! I am 11 weeks with my first and second(!) babies and my belly is rapidly growing. I scored a pair of maternity skinny jeans on clearance for $19 at the Gap yesterday but the idea of shopping from my couch more my speed right now. 🙂
Amanda S. says
I own item #1- the t-shirt… it’s SUPER comfy and cute too!
Cayce says
I was pregnant all last winter and still couldn’t fathom paying for a maternity coat. So i kept shopping Goodwill”s coats and found a nonmaternity coat in a bigger size i used for my whole pregnancy. Best thing? $6!!
Rebekah says
I didn’t have good luck with Old Navy Maternity clothes (just delivered in April) I wish I had found the Thyme maternity from BabiesRUs way earlier. I got work pants from there that I want to continue wearing now. The quality was much better than I expected and they run really great sales (BOGO free) occasionally. Hope it helps, and Congrats!!
Jamie says
All of your posts give me baby fever! My fiance is not so happy about it, but I enjoy them 🙂 Congratulations on another adorable bundle!
KiTX says
Ohhhhh the striped maxi from Old Navy. I’m at 36 weeks now and have the maxi in solid green, and it’s basically my favorite possession in the whole world right now. I hope you love yours as much as I love mine!
Kate says
Pretty sure you can also blame the fact that you barely had time to recover from the last one! I normally love Old Navy because my size is consistent, but not maternity! The dress I ordered from there was huge! I think that my ladies don’t grow as much as some people’s so my size is not accurate?
Katie says
I’m due the first part of March.

Yawn. It’s Old Navy. Cheap. And not in a good way. OMG, just saw you posted the Gap as well. ‘Nuff said.
Randa says
I just bought that maxi dress last week and wore it tonight to our baby/maternity/pregnancy photo session. 🙂 Am loving it so far!
Xochi says
I was pregnant during a California Winter. I bought the Maxi dress in the blue stripes and solid black. I wore it in black ALL THE TIME, not so much in the blue stripes. I totally rocked the black one with a jean jacket too 🙂
Audra says
I loved shopping for maternity clothes last year. I had zero items and being an XS none of my friends clothes fit so I had a ball shopping. Which I did…with gusto. From my couch because 5 months of morning sickness does that to you. Ha. Gap clearance prices are even better than Old Navy and Target.
If you don’t mind used items, there will be a huge kids sale in September at the Horse Park in Conyers. They have maternity clothes as well. They run a very organized and tidy event.

It’s also a great place to buy toys and baby items.
Katie says
Whoa. you fancy girl. Your comment reminds me of an episode of Shahs of Sunset where they were throwing insults and the ultimate was “I bet you bought that at H&M!”…they was all like…ohnoshedinn’t. I died laughing.

I tried it on early in my pregnancy with my second baby and did not end up getting it because it didn’t look right. The rouching is definitely made for a certain size belly. It looked funny on me because my belly wasn’t that big yet.
Crystal says
Yay! I am glad I will get to follow along with your journey as I go through mine. Keep the maternity posts coming…haha! Who am I kidding? I am just glad you are back to posting…it wouldn’t matter what you posted about. Love your blog! Congrats!
Heather says
Why. Why did you have to post about 30% off? Why did I then have to go and check out not only maternity but also clothes for hubs AND my brothers? Thank you for the heads up! (though not sure if hubs will be as pleased when he sees how much I just bought!) LOVE your blog and congrats on #3! We *just* found out last week we are pregnant with our first…lots of emotions going around that moment! I love the fact that you post about clothes…this is a whole new world to me and I love clothes shopping, but also love a good deal! I’m 99.9% sure there is not a single full price item in my closet, and I want to keep it that way!
Katie says
HAHA! You are so funny 🙂
