Most of the time Motherhood just doesn’t do it for me. I don’t know why. But it just doesn’t. It’s kinda like the Bachelorette not picking Juan Pablo in the end. There is no logic to it. But the heart wants what it wants. And in the past, my heart did not fall for Motherhood. But recently it seems that they are bringing in new designers (like Jessica Simpson and Heidi Klum) that have actually been pregnant recently and are under the age of 74. So I must give them a hand. They are changing my mind (and my heart). And here are some of the new recent finds that I totally dig…sexy accent, soccer ball and all…
Seriously Katie…spotted cheetah jeans?! Oh yes. It’s my Jersey coming out. Watch out world…I complain about not having pattern options and look what happens.

Not a Motherhood fan in the least…can you say overpriced?! I admit they do have a few cute things, but their prices vs. quality are ridiculous! I bought work pants there that shrunk A TON the first time I washed them, and the last thing a pregnant girl needs is clothes that shrink…if they could market clothes that grow, that’d be impressive. 🙂

Your kids are so darn cute it doesn’t matter what you wear. So are you. Just find something you feel good/comfortable in and can double as jammie’s and you are good. Personally, I like gray, black, and blue. Don’t ask me why, I’m not a fan of prints either in maternity clothes. And cute shoes with pretty toenails. Yah. I have 3 kids so I know.

I always hit up the outlet and the prices are much more reasonable. I never had a bottom from there so I don’t know but I have a couple dresses and some tops and they have been non-shrinking. But I hear ya…I need half my tops to grow four inches longer in that last month 🙂

Regardless of their fashion sense, I don’t shop at Motherhood Maternity any longer. They actively participate in marketing formula to mothers who plan to breastfeed. They were the only place that had my information (including due date) when I had a second miscarriage. I made repeated calls to various levels of the company and two visits to my local store to try to get them to stop sending formula samples and coupons to me around my due date which was painful enough already. New mothers do not need to be the target of aggressive formula marketing whether or not they plan to breastfeed, and it is really disgusting that one of the major maternity wear stores participates in making breastfeeding that much harder for mothers.

Oh, you and Sherry with your Jersy girlness. She goes for shinny, and you have a soft spot for animal print. I love it!

I’m so sorry for your loss. That is a wound that would be excrutiating.

So that’s where all this formula and coupons came from! I couldn’t figure it out. My coworker was sent formula and parenting mags even though she wasn’t pregnant. I can imagine the pain of receiving them after losing the baby, no good. I didn’t experience such a campaign with my first baby four years ago. I imagine the formula companies came after maternity clothing companies when free formula and formula coupons were banned in many hospitals.
Destination Maternity, parent company of Motherhood, is a Philly based company, the Philly store is half decent, and I like to support the local economy. I am loving the Bump in the Night nursing nightgown I bought there. The outlet scared me, but I managed to find some good pieces amongst the grossness.

I’ve found that the Motherhood pants fit the best though. My Gap pants have driven me crazy, made me uncomfortable and ended up in the goodwill pile. I always find myself thinking…. “Seriously Gap, why can’t you make a good pair pregnancy pants, has no one at your company ever been pregnant?”

I’m pregnant with my first and when I first went shopping for maternity clothes, I went to Motherhood with my mother (ha!) and we found very little we liked. But I did buy that white shirt with the blue embroidery that’s in the first picture and I LOVE it! It’s comfy and soft and super flattering!

I got 2 amazing pairs of shorts and Motherhood when I was pregnant. I loved them and kinda wish I could still wear them lol.

I know this is geared toward maternity-wear, but I liked your references to Juan Pablo and the Bachelorette the best…

I was also disappointed in the quality at motherhood. everything shrunk, one shirt shrunk 4 inches in lenth, 3 inches in the arms! They tried to give me a hard time with returning it until I put it up against a new shirt in the same size. glad that time in my life is over. I do not look good as a whale!

I’m a big fan of Motherhood, but have been only shopping maternity clothes the past 2 years, so maybe things have changed? I’ve also found them to be SO much cheaper than the other options! I’ve seen adorable styles at Pea in the Pod, etc but can’t bring myself to spend more on maternity than I do on regular clothes!
