Welcome back to my current maternity favorites from Gap! I decided to go ahead and bump (haha – pun intended) this one up a day because they are having a sale for today only and these items are adorable. I already have a similar black cardigan (works great even non-maternity!) and look-a-like jeans but I could stand to have a few more tunic sweaters and a little pattern to fill the next nine months. I think that’s my biggest beef with maternity clothing….it needs to have a flattering cut and fit but seriously, would it hurt to use cute patterns that aren’t just stripes?! C’mon Gap people…I’m supposed to be glowing here 🙂

Snooooooooooooooze.

What did you expect with a tagline that starts “a blog about nothing”? You are gonna be snoozing a lot I’m afraid 🙂

Wow, you are back with a vengeance! I missed Friday’s post somehow so I got surprised with 3 new posts today. You so totally rock, dude! 🙂

I lived in those jeans throughout pregnancy. Along with long non-maternity cardigans from the Banana outlet and 3/4 sleeve maternity scoopnecks from H&M (seriously the most flattering tops ever, I am not a small person and they made me feel great… at $13 a pop, I had multiples in each color). Have that Gap cardigan too and it’s comfy, but isn’t cut any differently than a non maternity item.

I just ordered several maternity items from Old Navy today after searching high and low for something OTHER than stripes. I mean this is my third pregnancy in four years and the baby bump isn’t as cute this time around… it’s more of a baby spare tire. I’m looking forward to the rest of this week’s posts! 🙂

What is going on with all the haters lately? I don’t normally comment, but I just wanted to tell you that I love ALL your posts. Even ones about maternity clothes and I don’t have kids and am not pregnant. Keep up the good work!

Princess,
That is super rude! This is Katie’s blog. If you don’t like it, go somewhere else. Keep it positive or don’t say it at all.
Okay, I’m done. That’s all.

I often search target and gap for maternity clothes even when I’m not pregnant! I love maternity wear!

Hey Katie- I loved Gap Maternity (I’m 40 weeks as of yesterday). Their jeans are my favorite (I try and stalk their sales + extra percentage off), but if you haven’t tried their maternity yoga pants…. oh holy awesome. Their t-shirt dresses (short and long sleeve) are also fantastic. And of course, maxi skirts that aren’t maternity (from TJ Maxx and Marshalls!) work the whole time. Congrats!

I love this series, Katie! Thank you!

Dear Katie,
I am so excited for you! I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old and would love to be pregnant again, but it is not in God’s plans for us right now. BUT I am so looking forward to watching you handle being pregnant/a mom/pro photographer/pro blogger with the grace and style that makes your blog so much fun to read.

Hi Katie,
Have you seen Canada’s Thyme Maternity range available via BabiesRUs? They have really lovely stuff that’s super comfy and looks great – including patterns other than stripes!! 🙂
Happy Tuesday,
Aimée

I love the styles you picked out! I feel like stores have focused much more on making cute maternity clothes, more so than 4 years ago when I was pregnant with my first. My husband and I plan on trying for another baby next year, and I can’t stop eyeing all the cute maternity stuff out now, especially at Target.
P.S. – The Gap and Old Navy 30% off sale was extended for today as well 🙂

Amen on the stripes. I look at my maternity clothes and its pretty much all stripes. And horizontal stripes aren’t the most flattering for curves so why they go that route for big bellies is beyond me!! Clearly this was a gripe through my whole pregnancy that you just touched on! Love seeing the maternity clothes though, keep ’em coming! 😉

Maybe “Princess” is actually Aurora (Sleeping beauty) and she just fell asleep and isn’t being rude. I mean, probably not, but I can wish that people weren’t such jerk faces.

Katie,
I’m expecting my first little on in the middle of February. I appreciate the maternity clothing posts! I was wondering if in the next few months if you would write about your favorite baby products/gadgets/strollers/car seats with your first two sweet babies and about any items not to waste your time with. Congrats on the newest member of the family!

Where were you like 6 months ago?! I had like three maternity pieces and didn’t like anything else I saw. I love the Gap maternity jeans. They are also great post partum and you don’t have to deal with a bunch of extra fabric like other maternity pants.

Katie, I have been following your blog since about 2008 and this is my first comment! I love your blog…and you…and bacon. Anyway, my husband and I are currently working on our second child (oh, how I hate the waiting) and, while we are “working,” I have been trying to budget for expenses for my second pregnancy, including maternity clothes. What or how many new items of maternity clothing did you buy between Will and Weston (or are you buying this time around)? How do you decide what clothes to buy for subsequent pregnancies? You must have some clothes left over from before, but if you’re like me, some of them are ugly (thank you, mother-in-law) and some just didn’t fit right. I have a pretty good idea of what items I would like to have but I am having a hard time justifying buying several new items of maternity clothes when this may be my last pregnancy. Basically, since you’ve been through this before, what would you suggest as far as supplementing an already existing maternity wardrobe? Also, I would love it if you could do a post on what products are good to buy new for a second (or third or fourth) child and what products it is helpful to buy because you now have a second (or third or fourth) child (do I really need one of those double strollers?). Thanks!
P.S. I love my the GAP maternity long and lean jeans.

This is dangerous for me, Katie… I’m a maternity clothing hoarder! Of course I plan to put them all to good use… 😉
Katie says
I didn’t buy much between Will and Weston but this time around I have already bought a couple items. My jeans are wearing out so I need some more (I had three pairs that I wore in rotation and the belt loops are coming off from me pulling them up constantly). I figure I want four kids so this is sortof my half way point and the last time I’ll be buying clothes. As far as supplementing, I bought new items for photos (things with lots of texture, cute dresses, etc.) and some throw-on-in-a-rush pieces (like long tunics and tanks) and a couple new ‘events’ items (like a cute and flattering sweater for Christmas, or a black top that is slimming for date night, etc.). I’ll definitely add the product list to my to-do posts 🙂

Like Kristen said, the sale was extended to today, so I took the plunge! I’m pregnant with my first and only 11 weeks, so I haven’t popped yet, but I definitely want to unbutton my pants by the end of the day. I figured I’m getting close and might as well take advantage of the sale. I got the jeans you listed (the reviews are really helpful with sizing, since I have no idea what I’m doing) and the navy cords. Thanks for the tip! I’m enjoying the maternity posts. 🙂

I agree. I just had a baby and couldn’t figure out why everything was stripes!! I also found out that Khols, Sears and Burlington Coat factory also sell maternity wear and occasionaly Ross. Not sure if they are in your area but it is worth a look if they are. Congrats!

I love that striped tunic and am wearing it in grey with white stripes today with capri leggings and cute black flats. At 36weeks, I am all about comfort!

25 weeks today and officially growing out of the remainder of “fat clothes” in my pre pregnancy closet. Love the ideas for cute maternity wear and amen, on the stripes comment. Love you and love your blog!

I just had my 2nd and needed all new tops since my 1st is a winter baby and 2nd is summer baby and I was so frustrated at all the stripes for maternity wear. I mean really?? Stripes are not flattering on a growing girl! I’m still annoyed with the lack of creativity in maternity wear. And Gap maternity jeans are worth every penny. I would wear those comfy bad boys even if I wasn’t pregnant cause they are so great! Leaving a pair out of storage just for Thanksgiving this year…;)

I am waiting for a pregnancy test to confirm my pregnancy. 🙂 This is my second and I feel like I already know. I’m really happy to be able to follow your posts. Don’t worry about the haters. Keep the maternity posts coming. I think it’s wonderful! I lived in Old Navy maternity during my first pregnancy.
Katie says
OOOHHH…let me know when you get that test answer!
