I must confess I just recently discovered ASOS. I had no idea that they existed. But I’m glad to have seen the light. I feel like they have good ideas. Ways to make normal clothes but to fit the bump…because that is what we girls like, right?! A lot of their items are a little too dressy for what I need personally and you can tell their models are definitely NOT pregnant (this photo is just laughable)…but their designs are cute. I wonder about the fit and quality and cost of shipping. Anyone shop there before? I can definitely see myself buying any number of these items just because they are different than a lot of stuff out there.
Emily says
I’ve bought a swimsuit from them before- they have decent prices on some things, and I believe I had free shipping and it was super fast!! The fit on the swim suit was fairly normal- not sure about their clothes though. But I just recently discovered them too- where have you been hiding ASOS??
Stephanie says
I recently ordered some cute dresses from there. The shipping and return shipping is free, so that’s a plus. Fit was meh, but I’m a plus sized girl so I have that problem pretty much everywhere. Quality has seemed good so far.
Ann L. says
ASOS has been a great resource for me so far. I’m 25 weeks along and have purchased like 5 maternity items, but all of them were from ASOS. The shipping and returns are free(!) and really fast (I usually get everything within 2-3 days of ordering. The quality of the items themselves are good, nothing that I would expect would last for years and years and sooooo many washes, but I don’t really expect a $23 dress to last forever.
As far as fit goes, I have found things to run a little on the large size. I was a 14 pre-pregnancy and bought a US 14 from ASOS and have found that some things (namely the leggings, the tops of some of the dresses) are large — but that could be because I’m tall and am not really showing much yet, or because my “girls” are a modest B-cup.
Definitely worth a try. With the free shipping and reasonably inexpensive prices, you’ve got nothing to lose! 🙂
Jocelyn says
I’ve ordered a few items from them. I’ve liked all the stuff I’ve purchased… good quality and good pricing. And the free shipping both ways makes it a no risk purchase!
Jocelyn says
oops… I am mistaken. No free returns. But, still, I’ve been pleased with them 🙂
Katrina says
I just recently found this maternity line too! I ordered two dresses so I could pick one for a wedding, and I was really impressed with the quality and the price! I think I paid around 30 bucks for each of them and the shipping is free both ways, so I can return the one I didn’t use for free! I’m interested to try some of their regular maternity clothes too, they look super cute!
Anna MacLean says
Asos stuff is great…my wee girl is 3 weeks old and most of my maternity wear came from ASOS! Fast delivery and good quality, fits bump well and v comfy!
Jenny says
Oh girl I am 6 months pregnant and found out about ASOS maternity right when I started shopping for clothes. Their stuff is SO awesome and fits great and grows with you and the shipping is free both ways. I ordered everything in two sizes (because I did find that the sizing can vary – although still within one size of TTS for me) and just returned what didn’t fit right for free. It’s totally worth it. This dress is amazing and could totally be dressed down easily and for winter just throw on some tights and a cardi… I’ve it once a week 🙂 http://us.asos.com/ASOS-Maternity-Skater-Dress-with-Slash-Neck-and-Capped-Sleeve/1030in/?iid=2929751&cid=8343&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=204&sort=-1&clr=Cream&mporgp=L0FTT1MtTWF0ZXJuaXR5L0FTT1MtTWF0ZXJuaXR5LVNrYXRlci1EcmVzcy13aXRoLVNsYXNoLU5lY2stYW5kLUNhcHBlZC1TbGVldmUvUHJvZC8.
I also got another dress and top from there that aren’t on their site anymore but I love them both too.
Christina says
Keep in mind, their sizes run small and the material isn’t the greatest quality.
Heather says
Yes — the pictures just cracked me up. My arms and legs looked like cheese puffs when I was pregnant, those models arms look like pretzel sticks. 🙂
Bean says
I’ve shopped there and their shipping is quick and the quality is pretty varied. I ordered like 6-7 dresses this summer, and some of the asos brand ones (cheaper) were actually really nice, and other things were totally weird fits. But they were returned–no problems there! I really like the variety and most prices are decent!
ps: I’m from ATL and love your blog!
Carrie says
Too funny – I just ordered from there for the first time yesterday. I recently discovered them too. I spent over $140 and got Free Express shipping – should be here tomorrow.
I didn’t read too far into their return policy but started adding items to my cart like crazy when I saw they had free return shipping!
I’ll update you on the quality of the clothing – that was my fear. I’m not a big fan of Motherhood for that reason.
Alissa says
I had a good experience with ASOS maternity. The quality reminds me of H&M…You get what you pay for. I was in a wedding and had to match the bridesmaids while 7 months pregnant, so I got a peach chiffon dress from ASOS. I ended up needing to wear a slip underneath because it was too sheer, but the $60 price tag was totally worth it.
Kristi says
Asos was my FAVORITE place to get maternity clothes! Seriously, my cutest stuff came from there. The one bad thing is that they are in the UK, so your debit/credit card company may charge an international transaction fee (it’s really low–I just didn’t know about it until I saw it pop up on my statement later.)
Virginia says
I bought two cotton black dresses during my first pregnancy and they are awesome. I’ve had multiple friends borrow them for weddings, parties, etc. They wear and wash very well. The maternity stuff definitely runs big, I’d go down a size in cotton stuff! Good luck!
Joni says
I discovered ASOS with this (second) pregnancy, and ordered a swim tankini and tank top. Seems good enough so far!
Courtney says
I’m 31 weeks along and have ordered 3 dresses for a couple weddings and my baby shower from Asos Maternity that I LOVE!! Priced at $50 a pop, doesn’t get much better! I found that maternity dresses from other stores are awful quality and expensive. So I was super thrilled when I found Asos :). I haven’t tried any tops or bottoms but was definitely happy with my other purchases! Happy shopping, mama’s!!
Meredith says
Love ASOS! Just ordered 2 maternity dresses that came last week. Shipping was free and took about 5 days. I’m petite – usually wear 2s and 4s. I found their stuff to be pretty true to size – maybe a tad small. I will definitely order more from them in the future!
Julianne says
I just found them too as I’m on the hunt for a cocktail dress and who wants to spend a fortune on a formal maternity dress? Not this girl.
How far along are you? I’m almost 11 weeks, figured we’re pretty close. I should be sleeping instead of reading blogs…
Julianne says
Oh, have you seen this etsy store? http://www.etsy.com/shop/ModernMummyMaternity?ref=l2-shopheader-name

Hello, I didn’t know these people made clothes much less maternity clothes. I just went to check it out and found this little number, I am shocked it didn’t make your list. Ha!

I bought two dresses off them as a bridesmaid’s dress for my sister’s wedding. They were both great. (I bought two last spring not sure how big I would be now in August). Buying two dresses from them was better than buying one dress off modcloth like all the other girls were doing! I wanted to buy so much more from them, and shipping was free!
Amanda says
Super cute! That photo is laughable but did you watch the catwalk video, too? Hahaha…

I discovered this website at the beginning of my pregnancy (I’m 26 weeks now) and I think they are great. They do have free shipping and free returns which is awesome, and they ship US Mail so you don’t even have to worry about getting the packages back to the UPS store or FedEx or anything like that. I’ve had a bit of trouble figuring out sizing at times because of the UK sizing vs US sizing on some items. Skirts and certain dresses have run extremely long (think tube dress vs pencil skirt). I recently ordered a dress for a wedding from them however and I couldn’t be happier. I also bought my swim suite there. Overall I definitely recommend it!
Congrats by the way!

I’m from England and love ASOS and have been shopping there for years. The choice and price is incredible. When I moved to the states 2 years ago I seriously thought ‘oh no, how will I survive without ASOS?!’. Thankfully they ship to the US for free and when i was pregnant last year i bought most of my maternity stuff from there – work, casual and party wear – I was pregnant for 4 weddings and over the holiday season! Love love love this place.
Holly says
I know most people are saying they had success w/ ASOS, but I’ve had on opposite experience. I discovered them right after finding out twins were in our future. I don’t know if the issue was I got HUGE, FAST, or what. But I found the things I ordered were awkward when it came to fit and didn’t have much stretch or give. For reference, I am 5’11 and a size 6 w/ a large c cup. As soon as my chest started to get bigger, the shirts I could still somewhat comfortably get over my belly were an absolute no go. There is NO stretch in the chest area at all. I tried some jeans too, and I couldn’t get them over my belly. I sent them back and tried 2 sizes up, and while it fit over my belly they were ridiculously huge in the butt and thigh.
I think I still have the items I ordered. I’ll take a look, and if I have them I’ll send them your way so you can see if they work for you.
Katie says
I ordered stuff from Asos for my last pregnancy (my bebe is the same age as Weston) and hated it. Sizing was weird and big and quality was rubbish. I returned one top dtraight away but held onto another two items hoping they’d look better as my belly got bigger – they didnt. have heard from other friends that they weren’t fans of the asos brand items but some of the other brands they stock are okay. Being in the USA you have access to so much nicer stuff for decent prices so I wouldn’t waste your time or money with Asos.
mariela says
When I was pregnant I ordered 2 tanks from ASOS. One very similar to the first one you have listed if not the same, but on a different color and it ended up being my favorite thing to wear. It was very comfortable, looked cute and had room for my belly to the very end. I also purchashed a ‘tent’ type tank similar to the #3 above and didnt like it one bit. It was huge and just not flattering. Love your picks – it almost makes me want to get pregnant again 🙂
Gemma says
When I was pregnant last year I bought the majority of my maternity stuff from H&M, ASOS, Topshop and Dorothy Perkins. (last 3 are UK stores but ship to the US) I miss wearing some of the outfits so much that I sometimes find myself rooting around in my closet looking for ‘that cute shirt’ and then remembering it was maternity and it’s packed away! haha.
Lesley says
I’ll start by stating I’ve never been pregnant, both of my little people were delivered by the Children’s Aid stork.
So I don’t get how you can tell the girls aren’t really pregnant. Are the bellies weird or something?
Maddie @ GoCratfy says
That shirt on the right is so cute! It would be cute for a normal shirt!

I bought a maternity dress for my baby shower last year from ASOS. LOVED the dress, shipping was really quick, and I’m now an ASOS convert. Love them.
Olivia says
I have been really happy with the (nonmaternity) clothes that I’ve bought from ASOS. Plus as many other commenters have said, they have free shipping both ways!
Erin says
They have a great plus size line too! I would love to try them on in a store but i’ve never seen them. I usually buy from them online and thru ebay.
Molly K. says
Quality is amazing. I’ve bought a few things maternity and non maternity and have been very impressed with the quality for what the price is. Highly recommended.
Corrie @ Little House On The Update says
I just ordered a dress from them for the 1st time. Not a maternity dress (yet) but a don’t eat for an entire day and suck it in dress. Shipping was free both ways and I think it arrived in about a week.
P.S My sweet girl was born 3/9 and fall/winter is the best time to be pregnant!
Alex says
I bought my dress for my baby shower and splurged – I think I spent $70ish for the dress – it was wonderful. Great details, lots of room for a belly, but it did run big. I got my normal (pre-pregnancy size) and I should have sized down. It also arrived in less than 10 days – I was crazy impressed and would buy again if one day I need future maternity clothes.
I’ve looked at their regular line and its all a little too short/tight for my taste
Amanda says
LOVE Asos! I’ve always gotten free shipping from them, with free returns. I order a couple of sizes or colors, then just return whatever doesn’t work. Quality is varying, based on price, more or less. But that doesn’t mean the cheaper stuff isn’t good. Their swimsuits are especially good for the price. I love the fact you can actually see the model walk down the catwalk instead of just seeing a pic of the item.
Kathleen says
I’m 12 weeks, but having twins so my regular pants are already tight. ASOS was the first places I bought some items from… needless to say I like their dresses but ended up returning most everything else I bought. I’m loving Gap maternity, and with sales their prices end up being similar to ASOS. ASOS free shipping is great though!
Carly says
Almost 11 weeks here too, due mid-March 🙂 Bower Power baby boom!
ren says
i’m not pregnant so I can’t vouch for their maternity clothes, but I am actually wearing a dress from asos today…i was worried that it wouldn’t be long enough for work/church cause I am 5’10” but lo and behold it fits like a glove and actually hits me right below my knee…good fit, reasonable prices, good quality, great shipping….SOLD!
Kary Glawe says
Love ASOS! Free returns get me every time. I wore the heck out of a Breton stripe dress from there when I was pregnant. I also wore a dress from there to a wedding a few days before I gave birth and it made me look so awesome that the bride stopped and commented on it. Seriously, this dress rocked. http://www.asos.com/ASOS-Maternity/ASOS-MATERNITY-Lace-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=614223&SearchQuery=maternity%20lace&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=36&sort=-1&clr=Black

I am preggo with my 2nd boy (about 30 wks along now) and was so excited when ASOS came out with maternity stuff. I bought a few things and ended up only keeping 2.
This dress: http://tinyurl.com/kod692u
I’ve worn it a few times and absolutely love it. I throw on a skinny green belt above my belly and get compliments up the wazu . It is so comfy!
I also got this skirt http://tinyurl.com/ldn93el which is funny since I don’t own a pencil skirt to wear outside of being pg, but thought it would be a good time to try one… It’s just a jersey knit, but it looks fancier. Love it! I’m wearing it to my baby shower this weekend, which is bird themed. Can’t wait!
I also ordered the top that’s pictured with this skirt and it was awful. I looked like I was wearing a burlap sack.
So far it seems that the ASOS brand stuff is the best. Anything else is a little too thin to wear out in public. I ordered just a regular black t-shirt dress and it was crazy thin. I might as well walk around wearing tissue paper. Thankfully their stuff is inexpensive and I didn’t feel bad returning it.

I of course had to look at the funny photo you linked to, but after perusing the other maternity sites you’ve been listing, I just HAD to share my favorite of all!
http://www.hm.com/us/product/16221?article=16221-A
This girl on H&M looks like she can’t decide if she supposed to look “preggo” or “beer-gutted” for the photo 🙂 So, so funny!
Marie says
I bought a super cute maternity dress from there (Mamalicious Jersey Dress), but it ran pretty small. I could not squeeze into it at all by third trimester. I’d say order a size up, but I can see that others are saying the opposite! It may depend on the item… I ended up buying almost the same dress from Old Navy, and I absolutely love it! It’s the Maternity Slub-Knit Tank Dress. It isn’t too tight but hugs in the right places to flatter a third trimester body. I would order from Asos again though, if I wasn’t so far along in my pregnancy (33 weeks). I’m trying not to spend TOO much more! 🙂
Anne says
So cute! Will you be finding out the gender with this one? If so, when? Will you share with us?
VV says
I first stumbled upon ASOS back in 2003 or something ridiculous, but I never bought anything cos back then you had to pay for shipping. Back then it was called “ASOS – As Seen On Stars” and you could select what celebrity you wanted to emulate and it’d narrow down all the clothes/accessories to the star it was associated with 🙂
As for the clothes, I’m absolutely pro-ASOS (despite the somewhat av quality) because being on the other side of the hemisphere (NZ), affordable maternity clothes are very hard to come by, let alone fashionable maternity clothes 🙁
Katie says
No offense, but as you’ve already been pregnant twice, are more maternity clothes really necessary? It seems styles can’t have changed that much in 3 years, and I would think the maternity stuff you’ve got isn’t already worn thin…?
I’ve never been pregnant, so I’m curious what’s really needed throughout the duration of 9 months. For a typical person, about how long into the pregnancy do you start wearing maternity clothes vs. your non-pregnancy clothes?
Thanks!
rachel @ A Mother Far from Home says
Bought a few maternity pieces for this pregnancy (newborn 10 days old now) and they fit pretty good but aren’t great quality. They’ll survive one pregnancy easy but wouldn’t do two! The ones I did buy were staple pieces so worth the purchase!
Katie says
Well, to answer your questions…no maternity clothes are ever necessary…there is always other options like maxi dresses and extra long tanks. But I like it. For me, being pregnant gives me the opportunity to buy things I want to try out…trendier items. I have a box of maternity stuff that I like but it’s pretty plain jane stuff. And I didn’t buy much of anything when I was pregnant with Weston so this is sortof like a breath of fresh air into a wardrobe that I wore for about two total years (I wore maternity stuff pretty much right away and then for six months afterwards). I think I probably have larger than normal babies and gain more weight than average so I do not know how long a typical person goes before diving into the stretchy pants. For me, I am flirting with them right around 10-12 weeks. And since I only have a few pairs, I wear them in rotation so they do get more worn faster.

Thanks for your reply. Very interesting. I suppose each woman is different, and I get wanting trendy pieces. I think I’ll have a hard time justifying maternity items that are trendy that I’ll only get to wear a few times (due to changing fashions) for a few months at a crack….but I guess if you’re planning for a bunch of kiddos, you’ll get to re-use those items a bunch of times!
The other fact for me will be (and probably for other women) is that depending on where you live, you may need maternity clothing of different sizes, dependent on the weather conditions and the how far along you’ll be. I live in Wisconsin, so breezy summer clothes won’t work for me year-round when it’s 30 below zero. Yup, it gets that cold in Northern Wisconsin!! 🙂
Katie says
Oh yes, I totally understand that different sizes thing and different weather conditions thing. Since I was pregnant with Will through the winter, I did a lot of layering (tanks under long drapey cardigans) and then when I was pregnant with Weston it was in the summer so I just eliminated the cardigan. I get really big and I know that fact so I tend to skip the short maternity tops and go straight for the tunics.

ASOS and those models with the fake bellies gave me unrealistic expectations about how my body would look during pregnancy. So here I sit, 33 weeks preggo, swollen and chubby, giving these biotches the stinkeye and reminding myself they’re not real. sigh.
Anyway, yes, ASOS is H&M-like quality, but I’ve gotten some really cute stuff from them and shipping is so fast!
Katie N. says
I’m 32 weeks pregnant and recently ordered a dress from ASOS (after a ridiculously extensive online search for anything even remotely cute to wear to my baby shower). It took about 1.5 weeks to arrive w/ the standard shipping (I’m pretty sure it shipped from the UK, so it makes sense), and the quality was decent. Nothing to write home about, but not horrible. It’s definitely some grade of polyester, but not the horribly offensive kind that 98% of maternity clothes are made out of that you can spot from a mile away (they just make you, the preggo lady, aware that you’re wearing a polyester-lined garment, but most on-lookers would need to examine it closely before realizing the fabric is a bit cheap 🙂 Overall, I would say, it’s probably worth ordering some maternity stuff from ASOS since it’s slim pickings in the maternity clothing world, especially if you want to have standards! Happy pregnancy! 🙂
kat says
This may not be true for Katie, but I’ll be buying new stuff because the maternity stuff that fit me last time won’t fit this time, since everything never quite returned to the same spot.
