I saw the tape!  That’s right!  I just checked it out and embedded it for all you folks who might have accidentally left for work without setting your DVR. 

Things to notice:

  • I said I love cuddling up to my fireplace.  hello burns nice to meet you.
  • Nate touches my arm.  actually it was more like a hold.  Sherry – that was for you 🙂
  • How the very first question was about Will.  Little thunder thief.
  • My hair.  Obviously I didn’t do it.  It looks nice…but who has time to curl that huge sphere of a head?!
  • I slouch.  In photos it’s good to lean forward.  On television?  Notsomuch.
  • I pause awkwardly when talking about drywall hole….because I could hear Nate’s earpiece buzzing.  Yes.  My hearing is ridiculously good.  
  • How the crowd has a very delayed response to Nate’s question of “very Southern hospitality…isn’t it great?”

It just proves that some people are made for television…and me?  not one of them.

  17. Katie- Your TV debut was awesome! That southern accent was priceless. I think it all started with you saying you were from Snellville. How could you not have a southern accent being from a town called Snellville? 🙂

    PS. After I graduated high school, me and a friend went on a girls vacation to LA. I had my TV debut while sitting in the audience of a Dr Phil show. They happen to show my face for like one milli-second! My mom was proud! LOL My grandma had to keep pausing, rewinding, and play it again just to catch the glimpse of me!

I bet it was good (probably scary too) to finally see the video. I’m sure it went by so fast. I’m sure I would’ve forgot everything I talked about. Anywho, NICE WORK! So proud to be a follower today ;).

  19. The show doesn’t air in my area until 3pm …so glad I got to see the show. You did great. I wish I was ready to move to GA b/c I would buy your house in a sec. Of course I think Nate was right on when he said part of what makes your house so great is the furniture and layout.

  31. I thought it was great! I did laugh when you said that about the fireplace though, but I probably wouldn’t have noticed if you hadn’t already pointed it out. Either way, it was cute! I liked the accent too, even if it is fake! haha

  32. You did a great job. Nate sure is a cutie pie. I was disappointed that the segment wasn’t longer…The way they were quickly scanning the rooms it was hard to appreciate the accessories and everything.

  38. I should add that my husband’s reaction to my sudden gasp and lunge for the remote control to set the DVR while trying to explain “Katie-Bower-is-on-Nate-Berkus-today!” was “Geez, you’d think there was life-saving medicine but we had to put it on a different channel to get it!”

    Although watching the nursery bit, I just realized that in the next couple of months, you, Jeremy and Will will get to dream up a new nursery and playroom for Will (if you don’t already have a couple of mood boards in the works)…sorta bittersweet, but I’m so excited to follow the Bower blog for your new house adventures! Maybe this time next year it will be Katie and Natey (and Will) Round 2! Although by that time, Will will probably have his own talk show.

  51. Great job! And when I first saw the Nate header I thought, “why did she put a pic of Elizabeth Hurley on her page?” You are one gorgeoumous girl! I knew you were super cute but WOW! Excuse me for a minute while I go put on some makeup, work out and try to burn 1000 calories, then go eat an entire bag of mini white powdered donuts. Because I will never look that smokin’!

  60. I’ve gotten nervous watching some bloggers on tv but you were easy to watch, Not overly awkward and extremely cute. The segment should have been longer though. The Nate Show tends to spend a lot of time on stuff I don’t care about and very little time on stuff I do.

I’m biased of course cause I’m a GA girl but there’s a huge difference between a cute little twang every now and then and someone that sounds like they crawled out from under a rock… Think of it like just adding a bit-o-bling to your vernacular. And how adorable was Will’s little giggle?? You gotta stop being so hard on yourself:-)

    funny story: when i had an ultrasound while pregnant with my son the doc said his head was the largest it could be and still be considered “normal”. so being the silly family we are, we started to refer to him as “baby big head”. and periodically through the years we would joke about his head size, kind of like the dad in the movie SO I MARRIED AN AX MURDERER (even though it really was normal sized) so one day he came up to me and in an I TOLD YOU SO voice says ” mom, i have a big head huh?”
    thankfully my family likes to play around and laugh at ourselves.

  121. Missed watching your episode because I was at a taping for Nate myself! A friend got tickets to be in the studio audience so a group of us headed to NYC for the day. Fun to see all the behind the scenes plus they gave out a decorating book. Quick stop at the bakery from Cake Boss & then back to good ol’ Pennsylvania & normal life. Your segment was great & makes me excited to see what you do with the new house! Keep up the good work!!

  125. You are way too hard on yourself. If I hadn’t read your list of criticisms I wouldn’t have even noticed them. You sound like a Georgia native, but you’re from New Jersey, right? How long have you lived in Georgia? I assumed it was when you got married, so that would be quick for picking up an accent, but maybe I’m wrong. I moved from a southern city to a southern small town, and my husband loves it when I take on an accent.

  131. Great job! So this is random… I started following your blog a few months ago after John and Sherry posted a link to you from their blog. I quickly fell in love reading your posts and catching up on your current house and new dream house. Then I found out you were based in Atlanta. I grew up in the ATL but have been living in New Orleans since graduating college a few years ago. Then I find out you are in Gwinnett County… I grew up in Gwinnett. And then I watch the clip from Nate Berkus and you are in Snellville! I grew up in Snellville (where everybody’s somebody). So random. And my dad is a pastor too just like your hubby’s dad. Crazy small world.

    All that to say… I love your home(s), I love your photography, I love your blog, and you did Snellville proud. 🙂

  150. Well, this was my first upholstery job and besides the time it takes to rip out the staples, I don’t think it’s that hard. I really do believe anyone that can tightly make a bed can upholster a chair. Maybe you could google “reupholster wingback” – I betcha you’d get a lot of good how-tos.

  157. Katie, I watched the segment in February and remembered the nursery. I am re-doing the farm house I grew up in an my 16 year old son would like a “barn” look. I remembered the pallets from the nursery and re-watched the episode. Can you tell me how you went about putting the pallets on? How did you clean them before putting them on? Do you seal them with anything. What a great idea!! Thanks for your help!!

    Go to the Baby Bower tab…and under it is the accent wall link…it’ll tell you all about how we attached the suckers to the wall and how we sealed them!
