Is it normal to see a friend all knocked up and wish that you could jam your own baby back up into your uterus?
Not that I want to do that.
No.
Just wondering if it would be normal if I did.
Let’s get back to the subject at hand. Or at stomach. Bad joke. This is my friend Julia. You may remember her from the teacher-themed baby shower we threw a few weeks ago. She was the guest of honor. Or you may recall Jules from the dinner party baby shower where I showed all my girls with their baby bellys.
Well, I am back to show a few more shots of those beautiful baby bumps. Last weekend I had the honor of snapping some maternity photos for Julia and her husband Jade before her little Ethan makes his grand appearance. So without further adeiu – meet Julia.
I know what you are thinking – and no, I did not photoshop her skin. It’s really that gorgeous. It’s enough to make you sick.
So here’s what we did – we started with some traditional pictures. And some cliche ones.
But then we mixed it up a bit. The sun was setting (pretty much my favorite time to take photos) and the cute couple was able to relax into more casual poses.
The lighting made me oh-so-happy.
Happier than Jillian Michaels in a rehab center.
And that is pretty darn near the maximum amount of happiness that is possible. Especially when screaming and crying is involved.
Dontcha just love this one:
She looks so relaxed. and beautiful. and content. Like the world has stopped revolving on its axis just so that she can relish in this very moment. Soak it up my friend. soak it up good.
because very soon the world is going to speed up and fling you into a giant pool of dirty diapers. Just remember to put your hands up in the air and scream the whole way down.

Oh Katie, how can one person be so flippin talented?! I am in awe. These pictures are absolutely stunning. Difficult to pick a favourite so I’ll have two please: the one on the swing/bench thingie and the last one on the bed. Your friend is glowing and you have used your talent to convey that perfectly. Just beautiful.

I LOVE that one of her lying on the bed, hard to put into words why. Good job!

Katie, I’m LOVING all the picture-progress you’ve made! The photos you take during these days will be treasured for the rest of your life. LOVE the pic a day thing & the look of your new blog. Off to go get some craft ideas right now….
PS – don’t forget to store back-up CD’s of your precious pics somewhere off site – like at a relative’s home. Heaven forbid it would ever happen, but in the case of a fire absolutely nothing will keep them around – not even a fire-proof safe or box.
Happy Picture-Making!

Gorgeous pictures!! I would love to take pictures like that, I’m working on it. You should do some posts on how you took those pictures, and what actions you used in photoshop. She looks like Liv Tyler in the last photo!

So beautiful! 🙂

Beautiful photos! I love them all but especially the one where she is on the bed. Oh, and the photo of them laying in the grass, oh and where they’re on the swing (the one where her husband is out of focus). Your friend looks amazing and yes, she should soak up this time. It’ll never be the same…
candace @ thecandace.com says
Oooh, what beautiful photos! Great job, Katie. I agree, I love love love the last shot – what a cool pic!!!
Lesley says
WOW! these are great. I have seen some professional photos that aren’t as good as these. My faves are the sepia tone one of them in the grass and the bed shot. Awesome!
Lesley says
One more thing. From your original pic of the 5 of you at the baby shower dinner party, can you share with us the gender of the babies that were born or haven’t been born yet if they know?
I think once they are all born you will have to get all the kiddies lined up in the same order as that pic for a photo op.

You are so good at the maternity pics Katie! I wish I were preggers and you were my friend IRL and you could take pics of my big ol bump.
Meghann says
Love love love love love the last one. She looks so at peace with the world… expecting her little one and thinking of all the beautiful things… I think the Lord designed us this way.. to think of the pretty and wonderful things or we would never have kids. I remember thinking before my daughter was born that oh, tea parties and cute outfits and a sweet clean child… now at 21 months I have a child who likes to eat sand, chalk, crayons, and clean… only for a few minutes.. tea parties… we have them.. but not sweet delicate parties… thank goodness for plastic cups!!! Sweet…. definitely.. she is the sweetest!

Love the pics. Soo beautiful
Just out of context…I was looking at your dining room before/after pics. How did you make that white board upgrade on the wall?. Also , most of your link in projects/renovations is not working

This is unrelated- but if you are still using WordPress to power your blog then go to your dashboard and in the Appearance dropdown under Header there will be a section that says “Header Text: display text” and if you click the radio button for “No” and then click Save Changes then your header won’t have the text over the image anymore. I had to do this twice for my blog, but now it doesn’t have the text over my header anymore.

They’re all great, but the last one is absolutely perfect. Love. Want one like it of myself ;o) Julia is beautiful.
Cait says
Oh my! Those are gorgeous!! And that last one….absolutely magazine worthy!

I LOVE your photography! Good job! You absolutely have to make a post about the details of your photography. I know you said you were an amateur and you photoshop a lot, but what type of camera do you use? What settings? How do you get the clarity, color, and details (like the blurred boy in the back with the focused girl in front?) I would love to know more about how you learned to take such nice pictures and what equipment you use. Thanks!
Julie says
She’s one lucky girl to have a friend like you – those are beautiful!

I am sooooo jealous of her skin! I am 3 months pregnant and breaking out worse than I ever have in my life >.<
I love these pics though! I'm going to have to take some to our photographer when the time comes because I love the lighting and the poses!
