I'm gonna be a Mummy!

I told ya’ll that I was working on a little project. 

No, it’s not my halloween costume. (although that might be an indication of what I will look like in five months!)

It’s a human project.  I’m making one.  from scratch.

I kid not…err…I do.

Either way, there is a homosapian growing inside of me for the last 18 weeks and the secret can be contained no more.  That’s right….I am totally pregnant!!! 

Well, it’s more like 45% pregnant. 

And this kinda news can not be contained a single moment longer!  Afterall, it’s not everyday that I get knocked up.  sperminated.  wild with child.  I am a bambino machino…and yes, I have been waiting my whole life to say that 🙂  I have just been ACHING to tell you all…it’s ridiculously hard to suck in my stomach for all those photos…and I felt like I was busting at the seams with a blend of nervousness, the suppression of nausea and the overwhelming feeling of immense blessing.  So it’s wonderful to finally spill the beans.  

Both Jeremy & I are uber-excited.  Like we have been breaking out dance moves everyday…even retro ones like the butterfly and the hand jive and the mashed potato.  mmm.  mashed potatoes 🙂  with bacon 🙂  In all honesty, I was a little more scared than excited.  Mostly because I was 99% sure that the fetus would find out who was carrying it and spontaneously abort itself.  That hasn’t happened…yet.  It might regret it’s decision around April.

So other than the official Baby Bower announcement…we have big plans for converting our office into a nursery, we are pumped about our transition into the land of parenthood and hearing all your good advice, and we can’t wait to share with you all the ways that our home will evolve into being a more child-friendly environment as well as tackling DIY projects in a way that is safe for us mommy’s-to-be.  Plus, we fully plan on punking the little tike as soon as it is old enough to smile…so stay tuned for that 🙂  

And in case I haven’t said it lately – A million bucketloads of thanks for all your encouragement and support and love over the past year and a half.  I am thrilled (and completely blessed) that I have such great blogland friends to share with us in this next big step!  So hugs and kisses to each and every one of you 🙂

  19. Um… WoAH! I was totally thinking shenanigans on your post title since you like to toy with us like that. Seriously, congratulations to you and your boyfriend on becoming parents. This is truly the most transformational thing that has happened in my life, and I am at a loss to describe how wonderful it is. My sister called her little one Splinter (the rat from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) until she found out the soon to be rat was a little girl. And she would totally punk her kid, but I think the kid definitely has the ability to punk her mother. Funny little girl. I am sure yours will have a fantastic personality.

  173. wow. your comments about the baby wanting to abort itself are just not funny. i miscarried 3 times and would give anything to have a baby and for some reason my body just won’t let me. you really should be more sensitive.

    I am so very sorry to hear your story. And you are right – miscarraiges are not funny. And that is why I was so afraid of becoming attached to my growing baby at the beginning. My story is very different than yours with a very different struggle. Like I have said before in comments, I was positive that I would lose my baby to a miscarraige (most of my friends have experienced at least one) and I was afraid of being head-over-heels in love and then plunging into loss. I coped with those feelings of doubt and insecurity with denial, guilt, and self-depreciation. Let me assure you that I am very humbled by this entire experience. And also know that I know my feelings were not correct or sensitive or moral….but they were real. And putting my feelings out there for everyone to read and judge was a huge risky thing. I hope that you can understand that these posts were not meant to hurt or harm but to allow others a glimpse into my very imperfect journey into motherhood.
