I’d Like to See Your Card Please

Do you skip to your mailbox with extra pep in your step during the holidays?

We all know that it’s not because of that double espresso mocha latte you had.  It’s because there might be something worth seeing in that box of yours!  It’s Christmas card season and boy, we are all more excited than a nutcracker in a pecan farm.  And that’s excited.

I thought it was time to virtually send you all a Christmas card – but first…a recap of our cards over the years….beginning with 2009’s silhouette black-n-white card….

That was the year I was pregnant with Will.  I can still make myself look that preggo thanks to some lingering ab separation and a wicked strong diaphragm.

The following year – 2010 made us very merry because we had the cutest face ever to include in our cards.  Will took over and we even made an alternate just in case we changed our minds.

2011 was picture-themed and we included lots of snapshots throughout our year.

We made another more traditional version too….and I do believe there was a booger on Will’s finger.  A traditional booger of course.

We welcomed little Weston in 2012 and went with a rainbow of colors and more youthful fonts in the card to reflect our colorful lives and youthful babies (that are young and full of youth).

Last year we didn’t take any great holiday photos so instead we chose some of the ones taken at the beach!  Since we were expecting LJ, we also included a belly shot….

This year I was a little more prepared with our seasonally appropriate pictures.  We tried out Shutterfly (because our addresses of our recipients were already loaded) and Tiny Prints (because I had a coupon) and came up with a slew of options.  I would create the cards and Jeremy got to pick.

In the end, we went with something that took us full circle again – mixing the script and bold fonts and adding a little black-n-white-n-red for a nod to the Christmas cards of the past.  It’s a version available through Tiny Prints and we have them send out the cards directly (it costs a little extra but our time is limited and this way we know that it is not going to be delivered around Valentines day).

So now I need to see your cards!  If you have a blog post/picture sharing account/instagram account showing them off, leave a link in the post so that I can check them out!  And if you just want to share any extras cards you have this year – I am sure that the boys would LOVE to see all the friends we have around the world.  Here is our PO Box for you:

  13. Well…LJ isn’t having it. He had a hard time because he was so tired. But it took about 20ish photos and two turned out. I have a post about the experience and more pics to share soon!

  22. Thank you! My mom made that dress for her and we just went to Target looking for props and found those birds. Now they sit on our mantel.

    And after buying those pj’s I realized that they where for boys but thought she looked cute anyways!

  25. This is a great idea to share your card and see others. I feel like this year there has been a decline in cards I am getting. Either people are running late getting them out, or not as many are sending them. Although I just got mine out this week, so who am I to talk :/. I too like to look at the progression of my family through the years. Love your card! Here is the link to mine, it should work…

  32. You look so beautiful! (I will not be jealous of Katie’s Christmas card. I will not be jealous of Katie’s Christmas card.) I finally ordered our’s yesterday, but I’m not actually in it. I was behind the camera for what happened to be our favorite shot. Oh well. Hopefully people will know I’m still in the family! 🙂

  35. I am totally failing this year – I am a designer and photographer and haven’t photogeaphed my “kids (fur babies) or designed a card…looking like I I will be sending New Year’s cards this year hahaha

  43. I’ll eventually add ours to Instagram (@melmatto) but for now I’ll shoot you one in the mail! I know how much my kids love seeing all the cards we receive too! Last year we decided to start a tradition of depicting a famous Christmas movie in our card. Last year we did A Christmas Story (which you can see here: http://instagram.com/p/hwtEQcuI2K/) and this year we went for A Charlie Brown Christmas. Hope you love it and Merry Christmas to your fam – been an avid follower for several years!

  46. So cute! I have “gasp” never made a Christmas card! I share so many pics of my family that I feel like I can get away with it 🙂 I toyed with the idea this year but could just not spend the money. Maybe one year 🙂 I do try to get a pic of all of us to post on the blog every year though.

  93. This is the first year I’ve made our own cards and since the dogs are our babies it only seemed right that they are the stars of the show. We actually got another puppy after I got these printed and I didn’t have time to get more printed. There were a lot of carrot sticks involved in getting these two pups to pose!

    This is our first Christmas with a little one so we decided to have some fun with our card! Our friends and (most) family understood the card and found it funny. However, some didn’t understand it at all which I got a kick out of as well since they probably thought I had lost my marbles 🙂
