I’m almost done.
Almost finished with these florida vacation posts. But I swear this is the last one. It was the real last day of the vacation. And it started with a hot cup of joe. I normally don’t drink coffee…but that day I needed it. Will woke up sick with a fever and seeing as how we were eight to ten hours away from home, I kinda knew that we would just have to man up and tough it out…which doesn’t make any sense to me…I mean, have you seen the Man Cold videos on Youtube? ANYHOO…. You can see my secret weapons there on the table…apple juice box (the kid is obsessed with drinking from a straw), a bubble maker, a hospital pacifier (yup, we still miraculously have it), baby tylenol, and sweet tea. The sweet tea is for me. When I finished metabolizing the coffee.
The boys were in good spirits…considering that the car still wasn’t fixed at this point. Bubba didn’t care – he only knew one thing. This vacation wasn’t over yet.
Since we had the house for a few more hours, we milked that sucker like a cow pump. The sweet juice of joy came directly from the rays of sunshine that bathed us as we layed by the pool.
Oh and then during an especially slow moment when the kiddos thought that they were bored with the pool, I suggested jumping photos. Not to be confused with the trampoline jumping photos 🙂
It only took one picture before Clara wanted in on the action too.
Then chaos followed.
This was the scene. Me laying in the lounge chair zoomed in while the kids raced as fast as they possibly could out of the pool and then screaming, kicking, or using props, they flung themselves into the water with pure uninhibited passion (see exhibit Clara for visual reference).
If I saw this face on a man, I might think he was going to gore me or something. I’m not kidding. That is intense.
This one cracks me up. I sometimes forget what it’s like to be a 5 year old. SOME of the times. Most times, I am right there with them.
Clara darling, I had so much fun with you. You crack me up with your girly girlness. Oh and I heard that your dance recital went well….I betcha you knocked their socks off! So proud of you being able to keep up with those big girls!
And Bubba – you are growing up so fast it kills me. So stop okay? Just stop. And be nice to your sister…even when your dad’s not looking….because one day she might have a blog and tell the world about your teasing antics…ask your dad, it can be quite the punishment 🙂
Soon after we started the trek home.
We were ready…my brother’s truck was at the mechanics…things were set for us to head home. Of course, we had to make some baby breaks on the way home.
This little stand was so fun. I was so close to buying one of these shell chandeliers as a souvenier…but then I realized I have a kid who thinks he was created for the sole task of destruction…so I opted against it.
Will seeing something he thinks he can throw.
In the end, we came home with a little orange tree. We planted it outside in a pot so that we can move it inside during the colder months. I’m not expecting any oranges from it…just not death. If I can just keep it alive, I am going to be very pleased with myself. It’ll be well worth the $14 I spent just for the braggin rights to Jeremy.
We also got a couple oranges and a grapefruit (Will loves oranges now!).
On the road again….
And our last baby break was at this weird place out in the middle of nowhere. We just pulled in because the sun was about to go down and we thought Will would like to get out and play ball.
Even being sick, he still liked it and was so sweet the whole time.
We finally made it home at about midnight…tired, hungry and needing a vacation. That’s how it always happens though, right?!
Next up…well, I did some changes around the house I can’t wait to show ya. The kitchen, the living room again, the front doors…it’s very exciting stuff so stay tuned!

Love the pool jumping photos! They are awesome.
And, I love that one of the drinks on the table. Just the other day I found a hospital pacifier — and my little one is 20 months. I started laughing. And wondering how long it had been underneath that dresser.
Have a great Monday.

Katie, you were practically in my backyard! The pit stop where you got the orange tree is about 30 min from my house! That exit is the one we take when coming home from Orlando (my IKEA trips!). Strangely enough, that area of Florida (Ocala/Wildwood)is the horse capital of Florida. Also, that Spanish Moss you love so much, it’s everywhere around here! Careful though, it’s full of chiggers! (that’s where the phrase ‘sleep tight, don’t let the bed-bugs bite’ came from. In st augustine, they used to use spanish moss to fill mattresses. So, people were getting bitten all the time! Needless to say, they eventually stopped using it.) Anyway, hope you loved coming to Central Florida!
