A poem for my mother on her birthday.
Mom you may not know this
That old picture of me and Norn
I’m squeezing her hand so hard
she wished she’d ne’er been born.
Mom you may not know this
but I’d torture little Tim.
Brad would drool in his eye
As I pinched him limb by limb.
Mom you may not know this
but once in junior high
I cussed on the school bus
and made a big guy cry.
Mom you may not know this
I hated the jumpers you sewed
That seam that came apart
didn’t accidentally erode.
Mom you may not know this
I used to say I’d die
if I ever yelled at my kids,
of course they would never cry.
Mom you may not know this
I saved my birthday note
I had only just turned seven
and I still read what you wrote
Mom you may not know this
through all the past strife
when you kept us home for school
you saved our family’s life
Mom you may not know this
I love you more each day
you became my very best friend
in the funnest kinda way.
Mom you may not know this
I wish I was like you
you’re funny, pretty, smart
the very best mom for me too.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX – (one for each year!) your little girl katie
p.s. here’s last year’s birthday note – I’d like to add the ‘sweetgum tree’ incident to the things that make me laugh 🙂
Katie,
That is such a sweet poem/post for your mom! She looks incredible-not a wrinkle in sight! What’s her secret?!?! 😀 Love all the pictures, as usual!
Your mom is soooooooooooooooooo pretty!!!!!!!!
I completely agree with Susannah! Also, looking at the pictures of your family I have to say it shows – you are a complete mix of both your parents (Dah! Of course!). I mean, I can’t say who you look like the most. Very thoughful and heart warming post.
Your mom is so pretty!
I’m seeing some grey and hope I look that good with a full head! 😛 She’s blessed to have you … and vise versa, it sounds.
Melody – I do too! I hope that I get a full head of white hair one day just like her…it’s the closest thing to blonde that could work with my skin tone 🙂

Susannah,
She says that her secret to reducing wrinkles is having a chubby face. She’s says the fat fills out the creases 🙂
