Great Giveaway – How do you DuPont?

Pump me up and call me Hans…I am so excited to share with you another amazing giveaway.  Fasten the seatbelts.  This one is going to the 21st century and beyond! 

DuPont (as in those fine folks that produce Corian® and Zodiaq® countertops) want to give you a chance to explore one of their lastest and greatest DIYer’s applications.  It’s called mysurface.  And it is actually super cool if you are ever in the market for chic new countertops.  Basically you can go into iTunes and download the app (that’s short for ‘application’,  mom) for free.  Then anytime you are dreaming about a new color scheme for your kitchen, bathroom or laundry space – you can whip out the application and pull up your favorite hue.  This is dreaming in color people!

But what if you don’t own a device to download this ever-so-helpful application on to? 

DuPont to the rescue!  They are giving away to one lucky ABP reader a brand spanky new iTouch for you to download mysurface!  Want some more details?  I am here to deliver 🙂

So if you know me, you know that I am not super-techy-savy.  Yes, I can text message.  Yes, I have even been known to record every singing and dancing reality tv show known to man on our DVR.  But iTunes?  I usually leave that up to the boyfriend.  I just write down the name of the ditty that I want to shuffle my cellulite to and Jeremy (after a little scoffing at my song choice) downloads it for me.  Until now….

 

I got my very own iTouch in the mail and actually dared to download mysurface all by myself.

AND IT WORKED!

After the initial setting-up process, all I did was enter ‘mysurface’ in the search box on iTunes.  And low and behold:

All that sweating for nothing.

And the down-low low-down on the download?  Well, it took less than a minute.  I am so down with that.

       

So now you must be wondering what this shmancy new application does and how you can use it, right?  Well, it is basically a countertop sample book at your fingertips.  It contains a slew of information – such as a hue-chart, sample ordering info, and even a gallery of DuPont countertops.  And the way it helps all you contractors, designers, and DIYers, is that you can select a countertop color at any time and make the full screen show exactly how the details of that surface would look like in your space.  Pretty cool, huh?

And because I don’t want anyone to walk away empty handed – I also made a list of my top 10 favorite FREE home improvement applications.  The giving just doesn’t stop 🙂

#1 – Mysurface – use it anytime you need to make a countertop selection and see that choice in action by simply laying down your ipod.

    There are two apps that I love.
    #1-Pandora. Its free, and it lets me feel like one of those hip kids that’s knows a thing or two about music (or it lets me jam out to the Spice Girls, or Lil’Wayne, or whatever).
    #2 Mint.com-free personal financial planning software that is really easy to use and set up, and it has nice pictures that tells me whether or not I really can live without (or not) that new pair of shoes/hardwood floors/unimaginably expensive lamp, etc.

  5. I’d do dupont! I also don’t have a favorite app, due to the lack of an ipod touch. But I do love using evernote on the regular old computer, and I can imagine that having an app for it would be amazing!

    I dont know many apps, I dont have anything to put them on! But I have heard about the level which sounds so fun and heard about an app that stores your store reward cards (CVS, KROGER, PetPerks, etc) and all you do is show the cashier your ipod and they can scan the screen!

    My favorite apps on my friend’s devices are Pandora and Air Mouse (to use as a remote mouse for your Mac).

    My favorite apps are Yelp (to find restaurants anywhere) and then two game apps (Bejeweled & The Price is Right). I play these during boring meetings at work. 😉

    Ya know, there actually is a Bacon app 😉 It’s called PocketBacon! Let’s you “cook” it and “eat” it! Sadly, it’ll cost $1.99 for your calorie free bacon!

    Anyway, I’d say my favorite app is Shazam. LOVE it and use it daily

  32. I’D DO DUPONT!!!! I would have to get teh Kaplan GRE app so I can study anytime I have a few minutes without having to lug around my books, flashcards,etc. After that GRE test though I’d find something much cooler to replace it with!!

    I don’t know if it’s free, but my friend has “Paper Toss” on his iPhone and everytime he’s around, I ask him to use it. I proceed to play the game until his battery dies. It’s that addictive…

    Just have a regular old iPod, so I don’t know much about the apps, but that one with the level they show on the commercials looks like it might come in a lot of handy (or cause me a lot of headache as I try to make EVERYTHING perfectly level).

  61. I’D DO DUPONT! I have only a few apps that I use on a regular basis. The one that’s my new favorite is the amps app. I was driving around completely lost, and my TomTom was completely drained of any hope for battery power. Enter my iPhone, and the maps app which successfully got me home, complete with little blinky light indicating exactly where I was on the route. Very handy for a not so handy girl who only remembers to charge things when she realizes the battery is about to die.

    Guilty pleasure app – photohunt. You know the bar game you feed quarters into at the bar? I have that at my fingertips every day!

    My favorite app (I got a Touch for my birthday) is either AllRecipes or the one with the “That’s what she said!” button. Because it makes me giggle everytime. 😉

    Oh my gosh, I’ve been lamenting my need to jump into the 21st century with an iPod and even did some research on which model to get this weekend!! I’d SOOOO love to win!! I have no idea what my favorite iTunes app would be since I haven’t had the pleasure of playing with it yet.

    My favorite iTunes app, currently, is Inside RedBox. Is gives you Promo Codes, which allows you to rent a movie for free. I love free!
    Shazam is also another great App, I use it a lot.

    My favorite app (that I use on my bff’s iphone) is Shazam. You can hold it up inside your car (or where ever) when a song is playing and it will pop up telling you who sings it and what it is. Love it.

    Not really sure what it’s called, but it’s an app that allow you to spook call other people by changing the caller ID as well as the voice of the caller. Crazy creepy!

    I don’t have a favorite app because I also don’t have an iTouch. My friend’s husband does, though, and she says that there are SO many apps, including one that takes “polaroids” – you have to shake the iTouch to “develop” them! I think I would be addicted to the games as well.

    I have a really old iPod shuffle, so I don’t have any app experience – however, I’ve had my eye on Sherwin William’s ColorSnap. It sounds great – you take a pic of anything with the iPhone camera and then it matches the paint color for you. I could get a lot of use out of that!
