Apparently the fourth celebrations can be extended till July 16th.ย Work with me people ๐
After our very first country-town parade, we hopped in the car (some of us were very adament about putting on our own sunglasses – guess he took “Independence Day” very literally) and headed to my parents house for the rest of the holiday.
My mom had the spread.ย Of course, it was delicious…and totally calorie free.ย It’s a holiday afterall ๐
My mom also had the table setย heavy-laden withย American cheer ๐
My favorite part of the food was the desert.ย I remember seeing this all over Pinterest.ย My mother has no idea how to google things so I highly doubt she saw it on Pinterest….so obviously what I am getting at is my mother is a genius…
Oh did I mention my little brother came.ย We were looking at the backyard (my parents are getting a pool put in right now) and the entire thing is red with Georgia clay.
After we ate, pool-sighted and generally lolly-gagged….we decided to go see the fireworks at the Snellville Spectacular.ย We all parked our cars in a church’s parking lot and sat on lawn chairs and the back of the trucks redneck style.ย ย My dad was laughing because we had just asked what we should do and Will volunteered “ice ceam”….that isn’t misspelled – that’s how he says it.ย Andย so we did.ย
We were close enough to Brusters to pick up a half gallon of our favorites and ate in the dark while waiting for the show to begin.
It actually turned out pretty awesome.ย I googled ‘how to photograph fireworks’ while they started the show so that I could try to capture them.ย Dude.ย That’s rough….firework photography….it’s very complicated.ย I think I should leave it to the pros.
Will absolutely loved it.ย The people in front of us were laughing because the entire time he kept on saying WOW!ย Oh WOW!ย Oh WOW! FIAHWOKS WOW!ย
I wish I had it on video because dare I say that it was the cutest fireworks soundtrack I’ve ever heard.
Overall, it was a great day….weird that it was a Wednesday…but fun way to spend Hump Day ๐ย Now I am off to the pool….hope you guys are staying cool out there!

So cute! You did better at catching fireworks than I’ve ever been able to! Did I miss the update/blog when you found out the sex of the baby??
Nicole says
I wish your brother would just get married or something already so I could quit pining after him…mmmm. ๐ dang, he sure has that something about him that makes you look twice and be like, “He looks so sweet!”

Looks like a whole lotta great family fun! I am so jealous that your parents are getting a pool – maybe when my husband and I have children I can convince mine; kids make grandparents melt, I hear! ๐ Great Firework photos, you’re a fabulous photographer!

Seriously? No one else has commented yet? I’m going to assume they are busy eating bacon and/or Pinning your mama’s culinary creation. ๐ The fiyah woks pictures are pretty spectacular for an iPhone, lady! I think you ought to try your hand at being a photog … just sayin’.

Sounds like a fun 4th of July!! Fireworks are so dang tricky to take pictures of! I usually give up because I feel like I’m missing out on actually seeing the show.

Katie-
When are you finding out baby’s gender? I’ve been stalking your blog waiting to find out!;)
Carly says
I think your firework shots are great! It is hard, especially since you can only practice a couple times a year.
Karen@RestyledVintage says
I am a very average photographer and never new that it was difficult to take photos of fireworks until I found out the hard way…a few years back my hubby and I got to spend (a childfree!) New Year’s Eve in Sydney where they have an amazing display on the harbour bridge. I snapped away happily, amazed at the wonderful show, but was gutted when I later looked at my photos, and they were all just black. oops ๐

Looks like a great holiday (was a little weird on a Wednesday though wasn’t it?!). I always love your mom’s tablescapes, and I think you did a great job on the fireworks.
As a total aside, I wanted to share that I finally tracked down the same striped, flat sheet that you used in making Will’s shower curtain (visited 4 different Walmarts!) and after following your directions, now have the perfect, extra-long shower curtain for my 2 boys. I could not love it more! Best of all, it contains all their favorite colors and matches the towels the Easter bunny brought them in the Spring. Thanks for the inspiration!
Erin says
I can’t be the only one who wants to know this…is your brother single?!
Christine Witt (Brush Dance) says
Looks like an amazing day. Adore the hats as table decorations!
