I have too many clothes. It’s a sickness. I can’t throw anything out. Literally I have clothing from the 7th grade. I think it’s because I really don’t buy things that I don’t love. and I love a lot. I have a big heart, ya know 🙂 Plus, there is the little problem of things not fitting. Like every other woman, I have the “but-I-might-fit-into-that-again-when-I-lose-a-couple-pounds” issue. I probably have six different sizes currently in my closet. Everything from a size two (I was teeny in college) to a 12 (post maternity wear!). But having too many clothes doesn’t stop me from creating a wishlist of items that I would love to have in my wardrobe.
Man…if only my dressing room had…well…more room. I guess there is always Jeremy’s closet 🙂
Here’s what I would buy for fall 2010:
and here’s the places I found em all…you can click on the photo to follow the link:
oh I love this color bag. I need a good leather bag. Let me rephrase that. I need a good CHEAP leather bag. This would definitely do the trick. All while adding a little warm yummy hue to my life.
Seriously. Target is always coming out with boots that mimic expensive Frye boots…and this pair is really strummin’ a tune with me. I love the color…kinda grayish kinda brownish…kinda awesome. Plus they would look great with skinny jeans…IF I were the type of girl to wear skinny jeans
Striped cardigans remind me of fall for some reason. I think it may have something to do with school starting. This one is rockin’ my world because even though it has those evil fat-enhancing horizontal stripes, it has that dark v-neck that breaks them up and helps slim out the middle. mucho beuno.
I need these shoes. Let’s face it…these are probably the only shoes in the universe that anyone from any age group could rock out. The white is just preppy enough to cook my bacon.
Not usually a cord girl, but since it is getting crisper outside (lie – here in georgia it’s still 90 degrees) I thought it’s high time I try a pair on. I think these would look pretty stylish when we go to the pumpkin patch in a handful of weeks.
Comfy? check. Easy access to the boobs? double check. Need I say more?
I had a faux fur lined maternity hoodie that I loved…and this zip-up version would be just perfect for any future bonfire or hoedown that my friends or family would throw (hint hint). Please note, I also accept invitations from strangers when smores or pork is served 🙂
My girl Dusty talked about these jeans and ever since, I can’t get them off my mind. I need some belly-hiding waistbands…and these look like they are just perfect for holding in the top of my muffin.
Sometimes I sit at home and think of ways that I can be more like Miley. Not really. But this shirt is adorable, no? And that price? Sa-weet.
Hunter green makes me think of fall. No wait. It actually makes me think of winter. But regardless, these polka dot pants are too cute to pass up. Plus, since apparently I have no qualms about people seeing me in my pajamas, this way I won’t be embarrassed about what nightware I am slippin’ into.
Again…I am really diggin any kinda top that gives me easy access to the girls. This shawl cardigan would really jazz up a pair of jeans and a tee while still allowing me to whip out a boobie without delay.
I love wearing boots where my socks peek out the top. Except I am not so stylish to have wool socks. And so I improvise with plain tube socks…which really aren’t the same…and I end up looking kinda foolish. Like when in 5th grade I didn’t know how to tight-roll my jeans so I had my brother do it for me…and he was totally anti-Katie…so I ended up walking into school with my pants rolled up and tucked into my socks…because he told me that is how they did it in 7th grade. The day of reckoning is coming Brad!
Last but certainly not least is this tunic. Love. Again…buttondown for the easy-nursing access…lightweight – perfect for layering…would look awesome with a pair of cords…long enough to cover my flubby midsection….and cheap enough to not give me a coronary in the store.
So there you have it folks. These are my picks for adding to my fall wardrobe. Anything strike your fancy? Or have you found any steals lately that you just can’t wait to share? Or perhaps you have an item that you have been coveting for a while and this fall is the time to purchase? spill.
Crystal G. says
HA, this entry cracks me u with all the whipping out of boobs discussed. Oh how things have changed since college, when the goal was to keep the boobies IN the shirt…. 😉 Oh motherhood, how you have changed us!
Crystal G. says
That’s supposed to say “cracks me UP.” Motherhood apparently ate my brain!
Mish @ BrickandBrack says
Oh love the boots and the cardigan!!! Might have to swing my Forever on my way home from work tomorrow….
I am a secret reader- never commented before, but wanted to say please keep on writing. Ever since you took on the blog full time with Will, it looks better than ever!

Love all the cloths you have shown or chosen they look light and trendy and best of all simple.
Cait @ Hernando House says
Ooh, if I had time to shop I’d be all over some of those things, like that forever 21 cardigan! Good thing I have no time, I guess?
Mallory @ R. Simple Life says
It’s a good thing my lovely husband brought me to Oklahoma, the land of no shopping, to live for a year… I’m loving everything on that list!

Haha, I totally bought those gap jeans at Atlantic Station last weekend! They have some super-cute, incredibly comfy ballet flats right now too. Thanks for the heads up about the Target bag! I love it and will probably steal your shopping idea.
Also, Atlanta’s weather last weekend was ~fabulous~ and now I can’t wait for fall!
Lindsey says
Love the Gap Jeans and the tunic from Wal-Mart. May have to steal your fashion ideas 🙂 I live in South Alabama so not sure anyone would notice.
Allison @ House of Hepworths says
Well, I thought I was going to do okay this Fall and not get the itch to go spend money on clothes. But thanks to you, now I want to order all those items. You should email all of them and tell them to give you free clothes since you just gave them a ton of press! ha!
I’d stay and chat, but I need to head to the mall…

Loving that your choices have easy boob access; my son is 5 months old and everything I buy now is judged based on boob accessibility!!
Katie says
Thanks Mish. And please don’t be shy. I live for comments and read every single one. OVER AND OVER.

Alicia says
I’ll take one of each in maternity sizing. LOL
Katie says
Right you are Crystal. I swear that if my future daughter ever talked about boob access…I would literally shave her head and make her wear a suit of armor that I would have the sole key to unlocking. Makes me rethink EVER buying a buttondown shirt for any girl 🙂

That hoodie with the faux fur lining is flippin awesome! Old navy here I come 🙂 And target’s boots are seriously drool-worthy. Gahh I love fall! Thanks Katie for inspiring me to update my wardrobe… flip-flops aren’t gonna cut it much longer- not in NY anyway.
Abby @ abby & her boys says
I have been eying those boots from Target! I just bought their grey suede wedges with patent leather trim as an effort to jump into fall, and still be able to chase the kids. 🙂 Happy shopping!
Julie says
Just got new brown boots for a STEAL, but I’d be up for everything else on this list IF my belly weren’t growing at a rapid pace! I’d love a faux fir maternity hoodie about now!
Laura @ so alaurable says
Love those boots! I can’t pull off the skinny jeans either – what would you pair them with? I’m seriously stumped!
And those jeans have been on my list too since Dusty posted about them! Gap, here I come!

I was just fantasizing about MY imaginary Fall wardrobe, especially because my husband and I are going to NYC in October! I need a Fall wardrobe stylish enough for the Big Apple, and comfortable enough that I can walk all over NY and chase my 15-month-old in it – I came up with skinny(ish) jeans, simple and long tops (to cover the jean-bootyline when I’m bending over and the mommy-pouch), comfortable flats (the brand MeToo that you can buy at Marshalls is very comfy and stylish), accessorized with light scarves (I live in Tucson, Arizona, so not much need of a real scarf) or chunky necklaces and other jewelry and a really fitted blazer. Hoping I can pull off the skinny jeans and track down a fitted blazer!
Meagan says
WOW! These are awesome! I especially need the brown purse, it will fit right in with the collection in my closet. Thanks for sharing the finds from walmart, I never actually looked at their clothes before but those shirts are cute!!!
Sarah@StyleandCentsability says
I am rocking those Chuck Taylors as we speak. They really look good with anything!
The tunics are great for fall into winter. I picked up 3 at Old Navy last week for very cheap and the most important thing is there tunics are long enough to cover my rump (I am pretty tall and can be an issue).

I LOVE LOVE my stretch bootcut cords from J.Crew. LOVE. They have help up really well too, and I wear them a lot. I stocked up last year after Christmas when they were like $20 a pair!
Christine says
Ummm, if you ever want to donate some of the clothes you don’t wear anymore to a dear reader, I’d be here for you. 🙂 You have amazing style and make me want to shop with $$ we don’t have. Poo on this economy.
liz @ bon temps beignet says
yes. yes. yes. and yes.
I love your picks. I don’t think they sell those cute shirts an my WalMart : /
I saw a Jessica Simpson handbag that looks a whole lot like the one you listed. It was at Burlington for $20 and was sooo buttery soft. I think I might have to go back and buy it.
Michelle B. says
I love your style! I’m pretty sure I would buy all of these items! I also like that you include wallet friendly pieces. Fall is my favorite fashion time of year, loooove the cozy sweaters!
I’m new to your blog and have enjoyed reading through past posts and ideas for projects. It is very inspiring – makes me want to conquer all of your craft & decor projects. So many helpful and great ideas!! Thank you!

You *would* have to post this fabulous droolfest on the same day I post about attempting to simplify. THANKS! 😛

Who knew Miley and Wal-Mart could whip out something so cute!??

Way to make me wish even more that I had won a Greencard this year and could finally move to the US! At least I have the white Chucks (and love them) 😀

Not related to this post (Don’t need any more dangerous things added to the “want” list!) but had to say that I LOVE the little compliment box on your homepage! Another incentive to check Katie’s blog: I may have to come here each day just to be complimented. :o)
Natalie says
LOVE the Old Navy sweatshirt! Definitely asking for that one for my birthday…is it strange that I’m going to be 28 years old and I still make a birthday wish list? :/
Julie says
Minus the Converse sneakers I’m pretty sure I could just raid your closet and be perfectly happy. 🙂 Now here’s the real question. How much of it will you actually buy? I think I have a wish list every fall and never buy anything.
Mary @ Green Picket Fence says
I am seriously running out and buying your entire list. Love the nursing-friendly (and belly-hiding!) options!
Lindsay says
I have those jeans! 2 pairs, to be more specific. And I’m seriously considering getting a third. While I’m not post-baby, I can definitely imagine how they’d be nice for that concern in particular, because they manage to fit (and look nice! I wear them to work all the time) without being even a tiny bit tight around the waist (sooo comfy! even if you’re bending all over the place) but yet not do that annoying gap in the back of jeans thing that many jeans do. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Seriously. 🙂
amanda says
I love those Chuck Taylors!
On a side note I noticed your barstools in the background of your video and have been looking for some that are similar, I couldn’t find them on your source list, where did you find them?
Elisa says
I’m drooling over that plaid shirt and those boots, girl! The Gap shawl cardigan is adorable too.

Hey Katie,
Just wanted to say a big ‘ol thanks to ya… after reading this post on Friday I ran out on Saturday and purchased a pair of these gap jeans… I’ve never had a child yet I still have the dreaded muffin!!! For some reason I’ve always had a horrible time with jeans digging into my waist, and by the time I get a big enough size for the waist then their to big in my legs. Sigh. But I LOVED the way these jeans fit in the waist… and I got them in a size smaller too!! Oh yeah, they were on sale for $35 – Score!!!

I like that all the stuff you picked was VERY affordable, and none of it was skanky. It’s soooo hard these days to find affordable clothes that aren’t sleazy looking!
Carrie says
Love all your picks. I just had a baby and need access to the girls and shirts that cover my newly formed and super jiggly muffin top. You have successfully created a cool, casual mom wardrobe. Good thing we don’t live in the same city or we’d be twins (because I’m going to get all those clothes)!

I’m also in the mood for a few new fall digs. I like your variety of clothing and shops! One of my first tasks before buying anything new…clean out my closet! There are so many things I don’t wear anymore (following the 1 year rule – if I haven’t worn it in 1 year it goes). I need to make room for a few more things! 🙂

Hello again. I love the wardrobe choices! You have inspired me to go out and buy a few things. Thank you. I needed it. You make me happy.
I have something to tell you. A secret. So I have at least 30 blogs on my favorites bar that I look at often. Okay – the truth – I check them all DAILY. and I usually organize it by my top favorites at the top – and then next favorite and so on and so on. The other day I was reorganizing this list and really wanted to put you at the top. But as soon as I put my new favorite at the top – they stop blogging often and go to maybe once and week – and while I still love them – I find myself looking at their not updated blog too often… So you are staying at the bottom of my list – because really you belong at the tippy top (and should have been there since the moment I found you) but you are staying at the bottom so I never feel bummed. 🙂 LONG secret – I know. And it’s not a secret anymore….. 😉
Now you know that I adore your blog and I don’t have to feel bad you are at the bottom.

I know this is cheesy, but I had to comment and say thanks for putting that cute little “you look pretty today” note at the top of your blog. I’m jaded enough to have expected an ad there, and I almost passed it by without even glancing, but then I stopped, read it, grinned, and thought that was such a unique way to create community with your readers. And now I feel pretty, too!
Sarah G. says
Just received an email….10.00 dollars off those cords you loved! In store and online….better scoop them up girl!

LOVE this list. The funny thing is that I left this page up and my husband saw it. He loved everything you picked out and said, “These are the types of clothes I always try to get you to buy.” I tend to go for more formal clothes, but am ready to take on this amazing look. I think my hubbie may even buy some of it for me. I’m 34 weeks pregnant and I know I’ll need some transitional clothes. I’m just trying to decide what size to get in it all. I love your blog!!!
I would love to learn how to photograph like you do. You are so talented.
I also appreciate your faith! We are strong believers too!!!

Katie,
I’m just getting to my comment now but the timing of this post was perfect – I had fall shopping on my brain and had come up with my own wish list the day you posted yours! I’m loving all of the items you had on there. On my list is a few more cardigans, some black boots and some browny purple nail polish (I know, random). I just hit up Old Navy and they are having some great deals. Happy shopping!
