Fall is officially here! The trees are dropping their leaves, the heat has finally stopped (THANK YOU GOD! I was beginning to think I should buy stock in Dove antiperspirant!) and my porch is ready for those cutie munchkin always begging for tricks or treats! And I’m not even talking about Jeremy 🙂 I’m here to share how I fall-ified our front porch with lots of traditional color this year! Let’s just get to it!
Introducing our fall front porch for 2019….full of orange, red with black and white accents. I still want to add a welcome mat but for now this will do just fine…
It took us a bit longer to post our fall front porch this year because we were waiting for the weather to CALM THE HECK DOWN. It was 90+ degrees for much longer than anticipated and then we went on fall break to Pennsylvania – so now that we are home, we went immediately to the CUTEST pumpkin patch.
KIDDING…we went to Kroger. It was still cute.
Honestly the price got us….2 for $8 for the big ones! Hollah!
The boys loved it! They never get to pick a pumpkin unless they can pick it up and carry it and now all the boys are so strong that they can carry the largest ones!
Weston’s little jack-o-lantern smile is the inspiration for my carving this year 🙂
When we got home, the kids allowed me to spray them all with bleach cleaner (it’s supposed to help them not melt!) and then later I will spray with polyurethane to preserve them as long as possible!
The other thing we did for the porch was we repainted our tall planters. I loved the ones we used for the Home Depot porch makeover but they were just a smidge too short. I loved the height of ours and thought “well if i just made them black….that would be the best of both worlds!”. So I watered down some black paint so that the grain will still show through and gave them a wash. I love how they turned out.
The other thing we did was make pumpkin planters! I showed on Instastories how I did this but it was so simple. You take a planter and fill it with something tall – like a bucket or a old paint can. Then I filled in the top with this garland I got at Hobby Lobby. It was Christmas garland I got a couple years ago. It is probably on sale right now as they are getting ready for Easter 🙂
On top of that I put a little spanish moss and then top with some faux pumpkins! It’s a pumpkin planter! SOoooo simple and fast and super cute!
You may also note that I filled the lanterns with spanish moss and candles….they are just battery operated candles from Amazon. Super cheap but great for this kind of application.
Overall I love the look. The mums and the pumpkins and the wreaths all play so nicely together and I couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out.
I think that the real star of the show is the front doors though. This is officially our first holiday season with the new front doors and I love how different everything looks with them. It really is a case of one little thing can make all the difference!
You may also note we switched the lights back to the old ones. The ones we got from Home Depot were so pretty (and these have sockets that don’t work which is why we replaced them!) but after living with the brass ones – we really felt like they should be black. So now we are hunting Home Depot’s website for black lights (2′ tall with clean lines and at least 3 lights in each!).
Ella showing off her posing abilities 🙂
Only to be beat by Bear. He always wins 🙂 Little model with the best Blue Steel.
So that is our fall front porch! Stay tuned for when I make the door mat for Halloween 🙂
