About a month ago a AT HOME store opened up near us. Yup. Now I am broke. We are planning just to do a month-long fast just so that we can fully support my shopping addiction. Get ready for the water-diet Weston! It’s gonna be awesome.
Ok ok not really but seriously we have very few shops near us and a previously-known-as-Garden-Ridge store within twenty minutes is something to celebrate. Also coming soon….a Home Goods. I KNOW. I am thinking about breaking out the happy dance here in a minute which is really saying a lot considering I am currently nursing a baby 🙂
Which leads me to my next post….I got this picture frame at the far-away AT HOME about four months ago. It was in the clearance section and marked down 75%! Watch me Nae-nae!
The shape was so cute and I knew that it would be perfect for my laundry room but unfortunately the chevron had to go.
I started the mini makeover by coating the entire frame with white paint and broke out my supplies…
I decided to cover the front with fabric to give it some pattern and texture. I could have used paper but it would have been harder to make sure that the paper didn’t get a crease so fabric it is. First thing I did was cut a square large enough for the entire front of the frame.
Then I flipped it over and started to cut the square out for the center.
Since my frame had a smaller center frame inside it, it was very helpful to pull the fabric taut and then crease the edges around that center frame with a sharp object….then I could just carefully cut that line.
Once it was all cut and smooth – it looked like this…
The Mod Podge is PERFECT for projects like this – I just put some of that glue down and smoothed the fabric back in place.
It’s REALLY important to get it VERY smooth and remove any air bubbles.
Then I just trimmed the edges off to get that fun shape back.
Doesn’t it look so super cute? Then I just popped a picture in the frame and called it a day!
The best part about the project is that I had everything already on hand! SO easy and fast and immediately gratifying!
Here is the pin for you to add to your boards. Don’t forget because this little project will save you time and money while you make your home more beautiful! Also – you can see that full laundry room reveal by clicking here. And if this project was your cup of sweet tea – then check out this old post where I added fabric to a mirror….and here is a picture frame makeover from yesteryear that is just as helpful 🙂 Happy weekending y’all!

I love how it turned out! I definitely don’t craft with fabric (or Mod Podge!) nearly enough. I absolutely love your entire laundry room…I’m so jealous. Want to come do mine?

I love your blog! (Grammar note:, I believe it should read “an AT HOME store”.). Have a wonderful weekend.

Katie, love your blog and your photos are the best. The only problem is the photos looked squeezed in next to the text. Yours is the only blog that has this happen. I read on my IPhone, within Feedly. Would love to see the photos more clearly when I read. Thanks!

Thanks Amy….that’s a tough name to write because it feels so weird in sentences!
