It’s that time again.
Fantasy Football Season.
Not just football season…oh no, no, no. That would imply that the males are only interested in seeing their favorite teams play…and that would be a misconception to the greatest degree. Since it is fantasy football season, the boys are literally counting down the milliseconds until the first official NFL game of the season kicks off. And then they will proceed to park their patootie in front of the tube until February….watching every single game in real time on high def televisions with their laptops on hand and their thumbs warmed up and stretched for the trash-talking text messages that are soon to be unleashed.
My boyfriend lives for this.
I think he would trade our firstborn for fantasy football. Especially since we don’t have one yet.
If Fantasy Football were a person, he would definitely jump in front of a moving bus to save it.
So it comes as no surprise that the boys were amped for the little soiree that would mark the entrance into what they believe is football heaven. They had the chart:
The laptops:
The food:
And about 18 hours to discuss, review, and decide what their future six months would hold as they pretend they are important National Football general managers…which, of course, is their new title.
If only they knew the truth. It would break their hearts. Shatter their dreams. Ruin their escape from real life where they work as credit data collectors & cellphone tower managers & corporate lawyers. They would probably loose all sense of conciousness. And then they would hit you. And I don’t want to encourage domestic violence.
SoI do what any normal domestic-dispute-hatin gal does. I just sit back and do whatever floats my boat as I wait.
It’s not my fault he might find me cuddling with two other women. A girl could get lonely.
This year the boyfriend knew how to make it up to me though.
I’m now looking forward to next year’s party 🙂
Lookin for a little Fantasy Football 101? Need to brush up on what you can do to love this upcoming season as much as the hubs does? Here is a little post that will give you some fun tips! Have a fantastic football season, ya’ll!

It is definitely that time of year again!! My BF has had these weekend blocked off for as long as I can remember thanks to the fantasy draft. And until baseball season ends he will have TWO fantasy sports teams to “manage”. I wish there was some sort of fantasy thing us ladies could partake in, because my goodness! guys just can’t seem to get enough!!

Looks like you had a fun party (dogs and all)! I do love football season even if it means I lose my hubby to the televsion every Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday! Looke like you are going to need a female companion for those days…maybe one that likes to like and drool???

Wow, my brothers are the same way, but they don’t have the fancy chart! I think they would be jealous if they saw this. Thankfully my husband stays away from fantasy football because he wants to be able to REALLY root for his team.

Oh, I’m not ready for the drafts to start. B’s first one is tonight. Who needs 3 fantasy football leagues?!

I stumbled upon your blog a few months ago and while I can relate to a lot of your posts this one really hit home as my husband and I are not only from the Atlanta area but he too is OBSESSED with fantasy football. He has even started a blog, I don’t even have words to explain how that made me feel. http://www.gridirongurusfootball.blogspot.com/

Ugh, I loathe these fantasy seasons! My BF is doing fantasy baseball right now, only it’s like nightmare baseball to me- can’t stand the amount of time it takes to check stats, update teams, etc, etc, etc… Whoever invented “fantasy” should be offed!

and I thought my hubby loved fantasy football…

I’m all about the kind of draft that involves puppies! ; )
Somehow I got lucky this year and my husband skipped the manfest to stay home and cook dinner while he told me who to pick on the laptop? I know, Twilight Zone. I think only because the party was 45 min away and I had been out of town all weekend but STILL…!! That and he is in a total of 3 leagues I think. Ha.

So funny! My husband does the same thing. This year he added a video draft system, which simulates the real draft. This, of course, majorly increased the anticipation for draft day. I could hardly contain myself…. 🙂

Yep, Mr. FC joins 2 FF leagues every year. And the draft parties for them are a hoot. B/c it allows me to blog in piece and quiet. =]
Aww those pooches are darling!

I decided to join in on the fantasy football this year… its going to be funny when i win! 🙂

LOL! My husband actually did two mock/practice drafts, just so he could try different combinations! He participates in online drafts, do I’d hear him yelling with excitement every so often during the two drafts he had on Monday night. Yep, you read that right — he did two in one night. He’s got one more scheduled for tomorrow night. This will be in addition to the couple of fantasy baseball teams he “manages”. Hey — all this fantasy drafting means I can watch my Top Chef and Project Runway episodes on the living room TV — not complaining at all!
Thinking of all of you wives/girlfriends who will be ignored this weekend!

You had me at bacon wrapped grilled chicken. My bf is in 3 fantasy football leagues (1 of which we co-own). I try to get into it but mostly just can’t help wondering if there is a reality TV marathon going on while we watch 4 consecutive football games on Sunday afternoons.

I have to admit, I love fantasy football too. It makes every game way more interesting.
