Oh Clare-bear, I know I am not your mother.
And I know that you are just my neice.
My sweet little three years old neice.
Still new to this world. Still silly and innocent.
Still fresh with that new kid smell.
But I have something important to say.
very important. vitally important.
And I hope that you remember it for the rest of your life.
You are a child of God.
The very offspring of Beauty.
You were handmade.
carefully. distinctly. tediously.
Your Father is the Creator of joy.
and love.
and funny fun things.
like boogers. and pooting noises. and wiggly bunny noses.
The blood pulsing through your veins comes from the same place as mercy.
Your bones were made side-by-side with generousity.
Your smile was born next to peace. and sunshine. and comfort.
Your Father is watching you.
Preparing for you.
Loving you.
And your Aunt is here whenever you need her.
And if she wasn’t scared of being struck down with lightening, she would say that she loves you more.
oh, what the heck. I love you just as much as He does.
XO – Katie

That was possibly the sweetest note ever. I have a neice and a nephew and I feel the exact same way about them. Thanks for sharing 🙂 I hope you’re having a happy Friday!

Thank you, Katie! How special to read. I was an aunt before I was ever married or thought I’d have children, so my eldest nephew (the first and only for most of four years) holds a special place in my heart. He just turned 7, and is growing up WAY too fast!!!

What a great post and what a cutie your neice is!

Oh Katie! Clara is gorgeous.
I just got a phone call that my brother and sister in law got very bad news at their “big” sonogram today, and I might not get to meet my first niece or nephew.
I am so looking forward to being an aunt, and as the tears flow, I know that our God is a BIG BIG God! Those doctors are not God, and our God is a God of miracles.
Please pray for a miracle for my family!

Lynette – I am sooo sorry to hear that….I know your heart is breaking for your family right now. I will definitely pray for them too.

Hi Erica –
Awwwgollygee…you got me blushin. Yepp, I sure did take those pics. And no, I went to school for biology. And I will share a little secret….I actually really stink at photographering. I am however adept at photoshop…so that is why the pics look half-decent. Plus I covertly stalk photography blogs 🙂

Hi Jessica,
I read Pioneer Woman which is great for photography tips and Jen on my blogroll is also a photog and one bloggie buddy who loves decor. Also, there are dozens on my reader that do it for a living. I use a Canon Rebel XSi. It is my first non-point and click camera and I LOOOOOVE it.

beautiful KB and what a way to speak into your little niece at such a young age…i’m sure just the same way you’re praying over and speaking blessings over that babe in the womb 😉
ps: from my last ultrasound it’s looking like I’m having a girl…so…when should we get our kids together since, of course, they’ll be betrothed and all?! Good, loving, christian home over here…. 😉

That was a beautiful note! You will make a wonderful mother.

What a beautiful encouragement for a beautiful little girl, from a beautiful aunt! How precious to speak a blessing over her. I especially like these lines:
“You are a child of God.
The very offspring of Beauty.
The blood pulsing through your veins comes from the same place as mercy.”
