It’s single digits until Christmas y’all! Can you practically smell the excitement in the air?!
I can smell Christmas and I am TICKLED RED, GREEN & GOLD to be sharing this post today. So you guys know that we are what you call tool enthusiasts. Tool junkies is a self-proclaimed title and we LOVE heading out into our workshop (aka the garage) to grab our favorites and get to DIYing, crafting or improving our life in some form or fashion. And honestly, we think that the right tool is the best kind of gift. It keeps giving all year long! I’m also a huge fan of collecting themed items and creating gift baskets. Every year I make one for someone and I know that something in there will strike a cord with my family member or friend. So what happens when you combine our love for tools with a really good theme?
(don don DAH!)
CHRISTMAS CRATES! Cue the orchestra!
Not just any gift basket will do so we created gift collections with some of our favorite tools in these sturdy and very versatile crates for everyone in your family! Here you will find FOUR really great ideas when it comes to making a tool gift basket that we are sure will thrill and excite your loved ones. Seriously – my Dad always says that he would rather be building a computer than building a table – and I’m sure even HE would love some of these amazing tools from Ryobi.
Here is what we are working with today….
Basically I went through the entire Ryobi tool lineup and picked all the items that I wanted in these gift baskets. It felt very Santa-esque. I am basically playing the role of Elf right now….and yeah…smiling is my favorite 🙂 Then I came up with a list of other little things I would include in each basket to flesh out the theme. GUYS. This was SO FUN. You can see all the items in the photos below and I will be explaining some of the tools for the people that are new to the tool game.
You have to go to Home Depot and create these crates for yourself…err…for your dad, sister, husband or whatever….because I know that they will LOVE it. Make sure you grab a big ready-made-crate from Crates & Pallet and then fill it with joy 🙂
FOR THE CRAFTER
The first crate idea is for the Crafter! Everyone knows you don’t mess with a crafters craft night or you might have an angry sticker-obsessed glitter maniac on your hands. Oh wait…maybe that is just Jeremy 🙂 Either way, if your loved one is Pinterest obsessed, this crate will add to the ease and ability to get their creative juices flowing!
Heard of the term craftermath? It’s the mess of glitter, paper clippings, etc left from doing the most recent craft! Clean up will be a breeze with this 18 volt hand vac kit! I even want it for cleaning up after meals….I mean…it’s cordless!
And this little 18 volt bluetooth radio is a FAVORITE of ours. We tune into Pandora on our phones and let this little guy spread the cheer. Now your favorite crafter will have some tunes to keep them motivated through scrapbook page #38753.
This guy is new and I can’t WAIT to get my hands on it. It’s the 18 volt hot glue gun by Ryobi! That’s right! Hot glue is no longer bound by cords and won’t leave that small pile of glue poo on your counter because this bad boy stands up!
I just got one of these LED workbench lights and honest to goodness…so helpful and convenient. I told my mom that even she could see if she had this with her all the time! ha! (love you mom. even if you are blind.) Plus, it works as a dance light….my Instagram friends know what I’m talking about 🙂
I filled the rest of the crate with some of my favorites – a drop cloth for messes, a short handled paint brush and some painting accessories so that all of that DIY home decor you crafted is easily finished. And there you have it! So if you have a crafter on your list – consider getting them one or all of these great tools, popping them in a crate and BOOM! You will get a hand-crafted thank you note in the mail….I promise 🙂
FOR THE SPORTS FAN
Whether you are a participant or an avid fan, sports gift boxes are SO fun. I picked out some of my favorite items to go in this crate and I know that none of them will disappoint!
First and foremost – if you have any balls in your house….we have plenty here (is that a play on words? you’ll never know.) We have so many basketballs, footballs or soccer balls….you need this inflator in your life. Then you will realize that EVERYONE needs this inflator in their life. We use it constantly. Trust me. It’s the perfect gift.
Every sports fan needs their energy jam! Enter the 18V Dual power stereo! It’s actually what Jeremy is getting under the tree this year! He’s been eyeing it for a while and I am a-ok with that because now I can charge my phone with it 🙂 Plus, now he can listen to Vols games while camping or while in the workshop!
We have this portable fan and we bring it to all our kids baseball games….and everyone there asks us all about it. And then we basically host a Home Shopping Network show about this fan. It’s really perfect for anyone that needs a little air flow during the summer months or needs a battery operated fan! And it hooks onto fences….just saying 🙂
And of course, you may have noticed that our ‘crate’ for this gift basket got a little twist. A true sports fan really needs a good cooler and this one from Arctic Cove is affordably priced and has all the bells and whistles. We love the size and that it is great tote-size.
Isn’t this a great idea for the sports fan in your life? I would throw in maybe some Big League chew, sunscreen and an Arctic Cove cooling towel and say it’s ready for any camping trip, ball field visit or tailgating fan!
FOR MR or MRS FIX-IT
Everyone knows someone who is the resident handyman! They are the ones that fix just about anything and everything around the house. I come from a long line of handy-people and they are constantly needing basics for home improvement. This crate would make all those jobs – big & small – so much easier and faster!
First – the drywall repair kit. Pesky holes in the wall happen…and this repair kit comes with the most clever (and EASY) way to make your wall look new again! If you have been thinking of hiring a drywall repair man to help….don’t! You can do it just by following the steps in this kit!
My favorite DIY sentiment is “Do your best and caulk the rest!” and it’s oh-so-true. Caulk is every fix-it’s friend. We just got this caulk and adhesive gun (we used it in this post!) and we can vouch for how easy it makes those pesky tubes of adhesive and caulk.
I don’t have this stud detector yet but it’s on my list! I hope Jeremy knows I need this in my stocking! hint hint wink wink! I know where five studs are in the Bower house…but the rest will be easy to find with this bad boy!
My mom probably hopes to get this multi-tool. We aren’t allowed to give her large saws (my dad said she is too excitable for safety! ha!) but this interchangeable system could be the best of both worlds….small enough for her to focus and with enough options to tackle any job! I bet if she had this, she wouldn’t be asking my dad to do quite so many things on the honey-do list 🙂
And the real star of this crate is the new 18 volt brushless hammer drill/driver. What is a hammer drill/driver you ask? It’s like a drill but also like a hammer. It drives in a screw with a turning motion and then gives little bursts of thrust like a hammer to make screws and bolts go in faster and easier! And what is the big deal about ‘brushless’? It’s brand-spankin-new and it means that your drill/driver will have more torque (twists faster) and lasts longer for each battery charge. This is a big deal guys! Any handyman will definitely appreciate this gift!
I would fill the rest with a few smaller elements – some new work gloves, some WD-40 (because that’s always needed) and a magazine all about fixing stuff up and you have a very sweet crate for any handyman or handy woman.
FOR THE DIYer
Last but certainly not least is the crate for the DIYer. This crate is for the building enthusiast who likes tackling DIY furniture and home improvement projects to make their home more Pinterest-worthy. You know the type. They generally have made something out of pallets or can brag about refinishing their coffee table or building the floating shelves in their living room. And guys….if there was a crate that I would want….it would be this one!
Let’s just get right to the beautiful star of this show….the Ryobi 18V Airstrike Brad Nailer. I know that this sweetheart is on a lot of Christmas lists this year! It is one of the best tools for getting started in DIY projects like custom picture frames, table top decor and the like! We use ours all the time on projects like this one, this one and that one…and the fact that you don’t ever need to mess with an air compressor again? priceless.
How many times have I hung things and needed this Laser cube? Probably a thousand. That’s not even an exaggeration. It can make hanging pictures a BREEZE. Diy frames need to be hung level to be admired by the masses 🙂
One of my absolute necessities is the sheet sander. This one has loads of power and can strip that poly off Goodwill furniture in a heartbeat! As much as everyone hates sanding…this guy will make that job easier and faster 🙂
And again – the hammer drill/driver is back in this crate as well. It was just too good to include only once. DIY furniture builders and home improvers will understand and appreciate that because they need this tool too! It can help them with all their bigger pieces of furniture and even help them drill into concrete! And because it’s fresh-off-the-presses-new, nobody has it yet! That makes it a great present!
I would fill in this crate with a decorating magazine or book and some finishing supplies, wood glue and a square to make your loved one feel like they got the first bite of the cheesecake! You know what I mean….it’s that moment where you get to open a new tool and you feel capable of just about anything. That’s what this crate will do 🙂
Aren’t those four Christmas crates just the bee’s knees? I know you probably already picked the one that you are wanting in your own life and probably thought of a couple loved ones in your life that could use a last minute gift! All of these tools are available at Home Depot and we Bowers HIGHLY recommend them. Seriously….we wouldn’t tell you to buy something that we aren’t willing to try out ourselves!
So go order these today or visit your local HD to create your own crates! Trust me….you will get the award for best Christmas gift giver if you do! Or you could beg them to regift it to you….but yeah….#fatchance.
And the best news is – we can’t possibly feel like Santa’s elves without actually giving away some gifts this season! That is RIGHT! (is your heart palpitating right now? because mine is!) This weekend we are celebrating with our family and we want to share the joy by giving IT ALL AWAY! Starting NOW! And make sure you come back because all weekend long, we are going to be giving away all four of these prizes. That way, you can give order one for your loved ones and keep one for yourself 🙂

Is there anyway possible that you could post an update letting all your subscribers know that the giveaway winners of the roybi crate contest have been picked and that they were contacted directly. I have been going around in circles looking everywhere. I finally read the comments and I’m sure I’m not the only one going crazy looking for the name of the winners.
Thanks.

I have come across these amazing crates. I have seen my neighbor having one. It is indeed a very useful gift for someone who is independent with hands and tools.
