I scored more maternity clothing thanks to a sale at Gap. No need for me to buy more Christmas clothes.
So what did I get? Oh two dresses – one in that olive color that is really flattering on the model and on me it looks a little more ‘filled out’…and the purple one was actually Jeremy’s choice. I think he likes it cause it shows more leg. Not that you would want to see my legs. Or should I call them thankles (think cankles…now go above the knee). Yup. I am victim to the pregnancy swell.
It doesn’t really bother me much…I have been dealing with a swollen left ankle for two years now (due to what my orthopeadic doctor calls post-surgery scar tissue buildup in my bad knee…ya know, the one that needs a new ACL). So what’s one more ankle with elephantitis?! And no matter what anyone says – edema can be very fun for freaking out small children.
Back to the clothing – the ruffle sweater is pretty and the one button cardigan has come in handy but really the best buys were those maternity tshirts. Not only are they comfortable enough to sleep in but they are thin – perfect for layering under regular non-preggo sweaters.

Isn’t maternity clothes shopping [not] fun? 🙂 I actually found a jeans company that makes juniors slacks/jeans with a roll waist that looks and fits like the maternity bands, but the rest of the pant fits the lower half of me that isn’t expanding as much. The brand is called Jolt.
Also, if you want to avoid swelling (it’s hard if you sit at a desk all day) I recommend aquatics. It helps reduce it at least and research shows that this low impact exercise correlates with more productive deliveries. Our local fitness center has one just for pregnant mommies and it is like my pregnancy support group. 🙂 I get to have sympathizers, and hear advice and brand info, etc.

Ok, so not related to this post at all, but have you gotten any other complaints that almost all the photos on your posts are showing up as black boxes? It’s not every single one, and if I refresh the page enough, I get a couple more to show up, but I hate that I’m missing out on your cute pics!

Slowly but surely I am inching my way towards maternity clothes. This past week I have suddenly lost my waist and my belly is growing. Needless to say, I am thankful for your blogs about this topic because whenever I look at those clothes at the store I just feel overwhelmed and overweight. I think your hubby picked a cute dress. It will look great layered with the grey cardigan.

I LOVE my gap tee shirts. I have two – one with blue stripes, and one plain light blue one. They’re the same as the one in the pic you posted. Mine both have pilling all over the belly from being rubbed all the time!

Okay, so I stumbled across your blog lastnight and your humor and wonderful decor ideas have kept me reading ever since!! I had to comment on this post because I know exactly what you mean about the scar tissue buildup and the swelling. I still have swelling and my ACL surgery was in ’04! It’s not quite “elephantitis”..is that what I have to look forward to when I get pregnant? LOL
Looking forward to reading more. Best of luck with the little one 🙂
