Over the summer a bunch of my church friends get together at a pool with all the kids. It’s beautiful chaos.
Will loves it.
His favorite thing is to hang out with the big kids and beg snacks off everyone. I can see that not changing in the next 18 years.
But the main attraction…the reason we come…the big event if you will is this guy:
This is Dominic. Dominic is Will’s good buddy. He was born on Will’s due date and ever since finding that out, I always say they have a cosmic bond. Like they were just meant to be friends. He was adopted by our friends soon after and they are REALLY good together.
If Dominic thinks something is cool – like sitting in a chair, Will is gonna do it too. Will is so impressed by him. He wants to be just like Dominic. It’s baby love.
And right about now is when I say GIVE KISSES!
There he goes! This is how Will kisses everyone by the way – wide open mouth aimed at the nose. It made for a very stressful cold and flu season.
Little lover boy…and to answer your questions – yes, I do make Will kiss all of his baby friends. I figure it helps the immune system 🙂
SMOOCHES! Of course, I shoved Will outta the way shortly thereafter to give the little catch kisses of my own. Who could possibly resist those curls?!
Seriously though…they really are the best of buds…and there is nothing cuter in the world than the innocence of those sweet baby tummies.
Okay okay…chubby fingers and wrinkled toes are a close second 🙂
Can’t wait for next year. Camp Big Enough (the name of the swim pool party) is such fun…and such a quintessential summer event for us that I definitely needed to remember it.
Do you guys have something you do that is pure summer fun? Maybe it is a sprinkler park or a swimming pool or a beach that you always visit each year? I’d love to hear it…nothing beats dreaming about warm days splashing around….well, bacon might….maybe 🙂

Awesome! Those kids are great! I love how there is a whole language and market to kids with their snacks.

First, baby kisses are always adorable.
Now that that’s out of the way – we used to always go to Rehoboth Beach (in Delaware) but haven’t gotten a chance to with wedding planning and all. We actually prefer beach towns during the Winter, which is weird. For Summer, we try to spend as much time outdoors. It doesn’t really matter what we do as long as it’s outside!

Sadly I have not done anything this summer. Not one day trip, not one outing, no adventures, no days off work even. We usually visit family in Martha’s Vineyard once during the summer for a long weekend but that was a no go this year. That is our only vacation all year so I really look forward to it, hopefully next year then.

The summer trip we must take is to my Grandma’s. She lives on a lake and my uncle stoers his boat there. We try to go a few times each summer so our son can get his boat rides in, and my uncle lets him “drive” the boat. Such a fun thing for a toddler. Can’t wait for our daughter to get a little older so she can “drive” too. For now, it’s enough just to take her on the boat ride!

So sweet! What a fun time!
I have a question for you: my husband and I are looking to relocate to Atlanta and are looking for good (affordable) neighborhoods with good school systems. I remember you saying you live there (or near anyway). Do you have any suggestions?

Cute baby pictures! I love their little bellies sticking out! So sweet.
We don’t have many summer swimming traditions anymore because in the NW I don’t feel like it gets hot enough for swimming very often. But one year my sister was visiting and we were having a heat wave; so we set up the sprinkler and ran through it in the front yard just like we did as kids. It was glorious!

That 2nd picture of will sitting down waiting for a snack is just too cute! Love his face in that picture!

I know it might sound cheesy, but we love the State Fair (Ohio). The minute we hit the gates, the smells, sounds, sights, etc. bring me back to my girlhood visiting with my family year after year. In fact that’s where I saw NKOTB for the first time (not that last though!). 🙂 I love sharing this little summer tradition with my own children.

Oh, I miss when my boys were that little and squishy! Now that they are 5 and 7, they are really into wave jumping and my 7 year old is getting pretty good with the boogy board. We have spent a lot of time at the Jersey Shore this summer! I can’t believe summer is almost over!

When we lived in Idaho we would visit Silver Creek Plunge in Garden Valley, Idaho. It is a natural hot springs and they built an Olympic sized pool around the spring (so the floor of the pool is natural sand and stuff, except for the area for toddlers. It has been a summer tradition since I was a baby, and my mom went with her family before me. We have made new memories going to the NC coast and NJ coast with my husband’s family – but those memories of a natural hot spring pool to swim in at night, fire-pit roasting marshmallows with pine trees bordering the big night sky – there is just nothing else like it ~ must go back soon.

I grew up outside of Atlanta in Cobb County. And Cobb County has great schools, ranked highest in the state I believe. It is a great area. I grew up in East Cobb, which can be more expensive, but West Cobb is really growing and is probably more affordable but still really great. I love Cobb County.

Thank you so much Meagan! Moving to larger city with so many different areas is proving a bit daunting so I really appreciate the help!

Hi Katie, I have a question about for you about the caption on one of your wonderful pics. What font did you use on the Dominic picture (red font with polka dots?). I get overwhelmed by font choices. Thanks.
Katie says
Budmo Jiggler 🙂
Don’t remember where I snagged it though – good luck!

Summer = Cousin Camping. It’s a big deal. It’s an over-21 camping trip with all the cousins across many convoluted family ties (my family, my cousins, their cousins, etc etc) and we, er, go camping! So much fun, with music, food, people deciding to stay up most of the night or to sleep in a meadow… oh, and this gets to be easily 20-30 people. LOVE IT!
KRG says
thanks

Beth,
I really appreciate the help! It sounds like Georgia has a lot more to offer than where I live now! Hahahaha
