First – let’s get a collective “aww” for little Lydia.
123…AWWW….
Her gorgeous mama brought her over for a newborn shoot and I think it’s pretty obvious where little Miss Supermodel gets her good looks.
Also – just a little business FYI….if you have scheduled a newborn shoot but not yet paid your deposit, please do so as soon as possible to lock in your rate because my newborn prices are going to be adjusted soon.
Lastly – if you are expecting and would like to schedule a shoot…please do not wait till after the baby is born to contact me. I know that life is crazy busy after having a little one but I don’t want you to miss the opportunity to capture your baby when they are so fresh and new to this world because of availability issues. Since I can only handle a couple shoots a week, I need to account for the time it takes to edit and make sure each image you receive is just like your little one – beautiful! That being said – it’s better to contact me ahead of time and we will work out the time and date after the baby is born.
Whew! Baby cuteness overload. I seriously am craving arm wrinkles and snuggly sleepy baby noses right now. Thank goodness Jeremy is locked in his office because seriously….he would be in trouble. Nothing says ‘sexy’ like “I WANT TO BE GIANT WITH PREGNANCY AND SWOLLEN WITH A BABY GIRL IN MY TUMMY!” which would probably be my opening line.
p.s. hopefully later I will be able to share some house/moving/packing/cleaning news and give a proper thank you to my sponsors….

Hahahaha…Jeremy’s going to have to put armed guards at his door 🙂

Let me just say that I’ve seen friends/people try their hand at (baby) photography and it’s always just okay. Especially at the begining of their diy careers. But your photos are superb! Looks like you’ve been doing this for years!

soooo cute! my hubby is in trouble too! its the arm and leg wrinkles/rolls that get me every time!

Haha I agree with Sarah!
And also? Too much baby cuteness! It’s a good thing my husband isn’t finished with college yet, or I might borrow your opening line.

Katie, you’re so funny!! Wish you lived closer because you know how to take some fabulous pics!

Katie,
your photography updates makes me so MAD!!! 🙂 I live in NH but have a 8 day old baby girl who would be a great model for you 🙂 WHY OH WHY cant I live in sunny GA so I could have you shoot her?! Are you SURE you dont have time jump a flight to NH for a quick photoshoot on a roly poly baby who smells like heaven? Air Trans has goooodd deallls 🙂
Keep up the great work!

So I know I am being totally nosy, buuut, what does Jeremy do for a living? You guys seem to be doin darn good in the $$ department. LoL
Katie says
Elisa,
Jeremy works for Equifax…and he is in sales which means that part of his income is commission based. That can be really scary but he works really hard all the time to provide and I am very thankful that he has such a good job. It also helps to have a wife that will nag the poo outta him over every little expenditure. Afterall…it’s not how much you make, it’s how much you spend, right?

Okay, I am commenting here for the first time. I found your blog ages ago through YHL and have added you to my blogroll. I love your blog and your sense of humour and Will is oh-so-cute.
Now, I have an important question. I am Indian and back home, babies are always made to sleep on their back till they can hold their head. I see that a lot of new born photoshoots have the babies’ head perched on their hands or lifted while they are on their tummy. How is this possible ??

That pose! Love it! So cute. 🙂
jenn says
so have you moved out yet?
have you moved in?
didya take any pix of the empty house?!

Hi Katie,
I just stumbled across this website from YHL. I’m a recent homeowner up in Mass and you and Sherry make me green with envy and constantly wanting to DIY (and I’m not a DIYer haha). I just wanted to say that you’re so talented and the photos of baby Lydia are beautiful. I think my favorite thing about the site though is that opening quote/picture of Cole. What font did you use for that?
Wishing you all the best and I hope the new house is treating you well.

Hi Rhiannon,
I see what you mean – but that is exactly what I was going for…the very ethereal mama/baby moment that feels like the sun is exploding with love. The color version is much more defined…but I wanted a lovely black & white in this post so this is what I picked 🙂

Hi Prashanti,
Yup – same thing here….babies on their back always…but tummy time is recommended and if a parent is right there, you can manipulate a baby to make them on their front while they sleep. For photography of newborns, we wait till the baby is in that deep sleep stage and then we can move them about for the pictures.

Katie says
yup, yes and heck yeah 🙂

You conquered “The Pose!” I remember a previous post by you of a baby where you couldn’t quite get it right (it was an adorable pic anyway). So, please do share, what did you do differently this time to nail it?? I’m doing my second newborn shoot in July, and I’m anxious for a second shot at The Pose, since my first attempt failed miserably.

thank-you sooo much katie! you made the process so easy, and we now have pictures that we will treasure forever!
